Suggestion: block function

Hello everyone, is there a block function, or has anything like that ever been brought up? I know you can 'ignore' someone, but all it does is hide their posts from you (if I recall) and it doesn't really seem effective in avoiding someone. Let me know if this exists or there's already a thread about it somewhere, I've not been in here in a while lol.

We technically don't have a block function that literally makes it impossible for someone to interact with you at all, but you can sort of replicate the effect but using the ignore function and then also setting it in your options so you can only receive VMs and PMs from Contacts and Staff. That should make it impossible for that person to....basically exist to you at all on the forum.

Though if you want to get and respond to VMs and PMs normally with other people too, this is a slight issue. Implementing a real block function is something up to higher staff and not me though.

honestly tho the ignore function just straight up hiding posts is pretty ineffective too? because i have the option to open it, and out of morbid curiosity i do, and... it's saving me from nothing lmao. i would also like a block function to essentially put those users in a different group for me? like one that straight up can't see my profile or anything

It's...not really the Ignore feature to blame if you don't have self-control not to open their posts. :P

I'm not sure we have the ability to outright hide other accounts or hide yours (except what was suggested above along with setting your features to Contacts and Staff Only). That effectively eliminates their ability to contact you and yourself from seeing their content. Just don't open the posts. Haha.

That said: our development team certainly could take a crack at looking into it if they feel it's feasible. They'd no doubt MacGyver something. :)

i know but the TEMPTATION :( i'd just rather not see it at all and pretend whoever i have blocked doesnt exist bc i dont need the reminder even lol

& basically I just hate restricting myself to contacts&staff only because i like talking to people! just not. certain people sometimes lol. but yeah thanks for taking a peek at what y'all can do <3

Actually, it'd be better to set privacy to registered users, aha. (Because it makes it so people on your ignore list can't see stuff you set to "registered users".)

But anyway, yeah, I'd love a block function. The Ignore List barely does anything unless I set my privacy settings really high... it does block the user's friend requests and private messages, though, so that's one thing I wanted to mention when I saw this thread.

Edit, ah, yeah, here it is, I checked profile privacy:

"Note: Guests and users on your Ignore List will only be able to view the blocks on your page where you have selected 'Everyone'."
