The last game I ever played was White 2 on a DSi. I've missed so much, like the Hoenn remakes, X and Y, and even more, right? Now there's Sun and Moon. All of this is on the 3DS, though, and it sounds expensive. Should I invest in the 3DS and every game, or the 3DS and some of them? Please offer me your thoughts.

I missed out from Emerald and then picked up Moon... which is amazing. I've invested in Y and Alpha Sapphire- the latter being more enjoyable for me as its familiar yet feels a new journey... Y I've just picked up my 6th badge and it feels slow and not as enjoyable as the others.

which games do you think I should play between gen 3 and 3ds gens? Basically all DS titles? I was 100% going with Heart Gold/ Soul Silver, but do you recommend any others?

X&Y are so worth playing. It gives you a fresh new look on Pokemon as well as features that weren't on the previous games. It even puts you closer to friends when it comes to battling, as well as it makes shiny hunting even easier. It's gonna be a huge transition between the DS Pokemon games and the 3DS Pokemon games but it's a great transition...3d Pokemon and 3d battles!

Start off with X&Y, then slowly move on to Hoenn remakes if you want to relive the experience of 3rd gen. I'd hold off on Sun & Moon because Sun & Moon is an entirely different game from all of Pokemon.

Now is probably a good time to catch up while the game front is quiet. With Sun & Moon being fairly new, there probably isn't going to be news of a new game for quite some time and then there will be an even longer wait for a release. Go in chronological order of release if you do want to try all three, especially since the addition of Mega Evolution.

I mean I suppose that it can be quite pricey to catch up, I would definitely get Sun or Moon though, then maybe purchase XY or ORAS if you have the money, they're really worth playing!

If you feel like revisiting Hoenn, get Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. Otherwise, go get Sun/Moon, as they're the most recent, so more people are playing with and talking about those.

Platinum is certainly worth getting in addition to HG/SS (skip Diamond/Pearl, they are inferior to Platinum). I personally like Gen 5 a lot, but opinion on that one in the community is rather split; you may like it, or you may hate it. It's better to play one of each pair in Gen V though, as I feel that the two parts together make a greater whole.

Yeah, I think you should just buy all the post-BW2 games. They are all really good. XY has an interesting variety of mons and I've personally found it fun to play as well. ORAS is also great. So yeah.

And whatever you do please don't buy Rumble World, it's stupid and lousy and just horrible and it sucks like hell ew
