I've been cooking for myself for the last week. It's quite rewarding to eat the food you've cooked yourself.

Anyway...creative cooking can be fun, but only with the proper ingredients. As in, trying to create new recipes is not quite as enjoyable with a limited amount of food available, nor is it very fun to need to go to the store every time one wants to use a specific ingredient yet it is nowhere to be found.
