Yep. I love Ubuntu. I currently have it, Windows 7, and Windows Vista on my computer.

I'm a Mac user, which is close since both linux and Mac are based off of the Unix architecture. also I've been messing around with Jaunty Jackalope as of recently. it' pretty nice, but not nice enough to make me switch from leopard (or snow leopard for that matter.)

I've always wanted a Mac. Too bad they're too expensive. They've always looked awesome to me. I know I'd still probably need Windows, but Macs have always seemed interesting. A lot of times, I'll go to the tech store here on campus to play with the Macs.

tell me about it, before I got my first one last march, I could sen hours in a best buy store messing around on their macs before I realized that they were closing. XD

Wow, that's...funny. XD I've never had enough time to actually play with them much, unfortunately. I have no idea why I like them so much, but I do. I had to help one of my instructors with her Mac once, and I had barely even used one before. XD It was surprisingly easy, though. (Google searches FTW!)

mac are so easy, in fact I'm getting a second mac next month for free. My brother recently upgraded from his old powerbook and got a new macbook so he's giving me his old powerbook to tinker with.

Wow, that's awesome. At least I can get a small taste of Mac's awesomeness by using Linux (mainly, the Unix-like stuff). If I didn't have to save up for a tablet, I'd be able to get a Mac soon.

it's almost awesome. My brother's powerbook has a failed hard drive that will need replacing before anyone can use it. (yay for iFixit guides!) so that will be a challenge. Saving up for a tablet, eh? what kind you planning to get? Intuos, Graphire?

Wow...failed hard drives are fun. XD
Right now, I have no idea. I'm only getting one because the engineering school requires one. However, after seeing tablets in action, I'm starting to like them more and more (I used to hate them).

I've got a 6x8" Wacom Intuos tablet, I love it to death and it makes photoshop so much more fun

I completely suck at graphics...I hate it. Though, that tablet will come in handy for taking notes on.
I forget exactly why we need it.

I'm curious. How much did that set you back?

well seeing as I got the Anniversary edition, mm I'd say it was either $250 or $300. but most of that was saved birthday and christmas money so I think I only spent around $50 of my own for it.

the only tablets I know of that go over $1,000 are the larger size Cintiq models, and those are actually touchscreen models.

ouch, tablet PCs are quickly becoming old news.
hmm. there may be 2 ways around that though

1. grab a copy of the Windows 7 beta, its just like Vista except that it's not as annoying!
2. save up for a Modbook, look here for more info, and bootcamp it. for the program you use.

I have Windows 7 right now. It's awesome. (My sound driver doesn't work properly, though...and no other driver is wanting to instal.)
That Modbook seems more expensive than the other tablets...unless I missed something. For some reason, they are recommending an HP tablet. No way I'm going with that recommendation! I've had too many issues with HP in the past.

HPs used to be great, I've still got an HP from 7 years ago that's still working great with XP, but it seems lately that HPs rep is going down while Dell, which I used to loathe, is getting better.
