I wonder whether I should start another small forum. Small forums sometimes make me feel really comfortable when things go right.

I wonder whether I should use a preexisting forum software... and if then, ASP.NET or PHP... I'm better at the former, but seeing as things are automated...

Or should I write my own software? ;) That's a pipe dream, right? XD

Seeing as you have your own webspace already, I think you have that covered.

I doubt server-side scripting of any kind is enabled there, and I can't access any administrator control panels directly. (Or I don't know the URL for it)

I can only upload via FTP and do editing to files that are accessible from it.

Ah. That's kinda a letter-downer. You should try getting yourself a panel when you get the chance. They're rather useful.

Still, I should be able to fool around with my local computer's servers and WebMatrix. I wonder what's a good forum software to start with? ;)

I think I'm a bit determined to try what works best with me.

Is it just me or is the supporter section of one forum a weird place to discuss starting a new, similar forum? You're all crazy

Come to think of it... yeah, it seems to be one of these out-of-place thingies...

You all let down PC, you should be ashamed. You're trying to support it, not take from it ;__;

(don't be offended lool)

Same here. Smaller forums can be alright, but more times than not, the members & staff are rude. I love it here. I've never really had problems with anyone, as far as I can remember.

I find smaller forums have trouble gaining momentum. The good part about PC is that it was started in like 2003 when forums were a bigger deal in general, so it allowed it go grow big and happy :)

Smaller forums trying to gain momentum in recent times... I think I'd be hard-pressed to find a good example that's really successful, but there are success stories, all right, and there are also these that stay active, if only because it's mostly related to one another, the members, that is. Or some real dedication.

haha, I think we all know that PC's going nowhere. It's just a bit of a power trip to be a big fish in a small pond. But it all comes rolling in and you realise there's no point being in the small pond in the first place. Honestly, though - that's all it is. There's nothing a smaller forum can offer that PC can't do better. There are no niches left that aren't already covered by the big four: PC, Smogon, Serebii & BulbaGarden.

Hehe. I thought you might say that, huh?

It probably doesn't hurt if, you know, you run a forum that you know that, although there won't be many members, you can be assured that all of them, or at least most of them, will be regulars.

I thought the big four would be PC, Smogon, Serebii and Bulbagarden lol

Yeah, probably. I didn't realise how big Bulbagarden was. My bad, lol.

Haha! Marriland? I was like, what? This might sound more right, and I doubt I'd call Smogon something big on general community.
I was saying that all four of those cover almost possible niches. In the case of Smogon, it's competitive battling.
