Well, it's because the staff is so on-task!

I find that PC is the perfect balance between big and friendly. Small forums are nice, but meeting and greeting members gets slow and not having new faces around gets boring, and huuuuuuge forums like Reddit just are disorganized and nobody can get a personal relationship unless you know them irl and everyone can be rude because the post will be lost in the mod's workflow.

If a forum is so loose that an icy cold comment can be made and my jacket won't protect me against it, I walk away. Vice versa, if I forum is so strict I can't breathe, I'll likely just leave. u_u

MODERATORS ARE THE JACKETS OF POKECOMMUNITY THEN? :3

I've been to a variety of forums, and really this is the only place where I've stuck around. I've had my times where I've had a break for a month of two, but I never really left. I think it's mainly due the fact that it was the very first forum I joined, haha. I'll probably be saying this on a different Pokemon Forum if PC wasn't the first result that popped up in google after I typed in "Pokemon Forums". Haha.

Omg Curious we joined in the same way. Google mods unite!

I think I was RH one day and I was like "f this a PC account it is".

For about a year I was too afraid of posting on here because I thought I was gonna get banned for being a noob x]

thank you pc for helping my irl life :)

I remember my first time posting here... I was such a noobcake back then

My first post was something like finding help in Snakewood.... loool

I was such a noob too x] I think I pissed off a member once and then I quit PC for about a couple days.

in my defense he was kinda mean but I'm over it rly. I have all you guys to have fun with :3

Oh god, the noob days. I can't stand remembering them; doing so just causes an overwhelming amount of embarrassment to flood over me and I can't stand it. D; One time I said something was against the rules and "locked" a thread but I couldn't figure out how so someone had to tell me that's staff's job not a member's. :I

Another time, I kept asking in someone's hack thread to make signatures or avatars. XD

I'm going to sound like I'm advertising the forum but I'm not, that's just my bad wording, so bear with me here!

Gotta disagree with this. There are a lot of people who've, once they've joined EGC, they've actually fit right in, and that's actually one of(if not the primarily) goals of the forum. I mean, I think I know what you're coming from--it's a new forum after all, and joining any new forum would be intimidating at first--but it takes some getting used to, and after conversing with some of the forum's regulars and whatnot, it seems to really give that "home"-y feeling.

Just wanted to clear things up ^^; my two cents while I was there, I guess. xD
EGC was meant to be friendly from the start. The admins made a job out of trying to keep the place fun and welcoming, and warm. I have to agree with this.
It's a forum that I(and another friend of mine) started in mid December 2011, and it's been going on ever since.
O.....O
Derk? I mean, seriously, y u no identify yourself? :/ I have to learn this is your PC account by seeing this post? Oh God...
In reply to the quote above this one, I was talking to Machu Pichu the other day (The other founder Winter's Dew speaks of), and I asked for advice on running a successful forum. The first thing he said was: "Make it warm and welcoming", which is what he and Winter's Dew did with EGC.
I dunno. The Trivia box or whatever, when I went in there and tried to start a conversation like we have to do here in OT, they were all like "dude no gtfo".
OMG looooooool.
Lmfao for real right now, so well worded bro. xD, I give you that :p
I find that the right atmosphere is a place you can insult someone and everyone has a good laugh about it.
Agreed. You should see TPB, like, insults flying all over the place, you can't go by one post without laughing. Of course that place is small, which makes it perfectly fine. If that were to happen here (I mean like everyone making fun of other people), omg! Like, GAH! So many people here, so many insults, my screen would go on fire xD

Rofl. Same here O,O
The first month I joined I was soooooo freaked, I wouldn't dare post before reading what I'd written like ten times >_>
I was a noobsauce myself a long time ago. And my first thread/post really shows that lol.

I've definitely matured as a member though.
GAH! No one wants to see my n00000000b days xD
i..... used to type..... like this............for some weird...... reason that I.... am yet to understand..... till this day...... :/

OMG Lol. The mods of the time must have had a pretty damn good laugh at that xDDD

I remember when I was a noob :3 I won an arguement against Vrai (This was in my old account, which I have long forgotten :3) and I quit because that took every single joule of energy in my body :) THENNNN, after a year, I rejoined (i made a new account because I forgot my old email associated with my old account, thus, i couldn't press the "Forgot your Password?" link), and had the worst sig of all time! :D ah. good times.

I still am a noob( or I feel like I am) here. Ive just kind of left for a long time and came back and actually started posting in a couple places. I found out about this place through Bulbagarden, so I looked around one day because they'd been talking about this forum and decided to make an account cause why not?So now Im here. I was here mainly to talk to people I knew over here, but I post somewhat now and am more active.

It still feels weird to not have ads on the top, but it's always refreshing to not see Romney-Bain-Whatever-the-crap ads every time I go onto PC :P

I didnt pay attention to the ads even before I was a supporter, I tend to just be able to ignore those.

I haven't seen an ad on PC in so long that I tend to forget they exist to certain tiers, or regular members. I have an account that's not a supporter that sees them, buuut if / when I use that one, I tend to block them out. v v I figure most people now days use ad blockers, too.

I never really saw the purpose of ads(in general I mean, not PC using ads). Anyone can use adblocker, and even when I didn't, I never actually payed attention to ads, except when they annoyed the hell out of me :l
