It is a complaint, so merged with the complaints thread.

I kinda disagree - I see little wrong with it if anything (maybe even better than D/P/Pt's dialogue? Too close to call though I suppose...), and it seems both loyal enough, but not a direct copy all the time to the GSC dialogue to remain interesting I feel. (After all this is a GSC remake so a lot of the dialogue comes from ten years ago).

My only real complaint is that the Kimono Girls are completely obnoxious. They wanted me to go to Whirl Islands and because of this Cal stopped me from surfing to Kanto. I have to go and see them first. Obnoxious morons... I disliked them through the whole game.

I liked them, it was better then just getting the item to summon ho-oh/lugia. i'm not sure why people said they were hard either i beat most of them with just dragonair.

When I got to Kanto I encounted a Lv. 7 Noctowl, Lv. 9 Fearow, WHAT! It makes no sense. Why is the wild pokemon at Lv.2 when the trainer in the grass is at Lv. 50. Why do yougsters and bug catchers have pokemon that can beat the elite four? (grant it, while their level is high enough to beat the elite four, many of the trainers in Kanto have retarded movesets.)

I have been satisfied with all of the gyms, however.

LOL yes, today I caught a lv. 6 Furret outside Pallet Town! The Pokemon in Kanto are on steroids

Hmm this is pretty ambiguous, but I wish that they'd stuck with how GSC was, as far as some little things go...

I dunno, I like my hg so far. :D

I'm sad that they didn't add a Contest Hall in the games...

That was the fun part of DPPt...

Yeah, I know how you feel.
/sadfaise.

It's not all a loss... Just transfer your current Heart Gold/Soul Silver Pokemon back into your Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum and use the contest hall there! It's a pity and a bit of an inconvenience for some but at least you can still get your fix and your Pokemon ribbons or medals there. Cheer up pals, it's still an awesome game! *Face-five*

Someone forgot that there's no Contest Hall in the original GSC.

There isn't a Safari Zone either, yet they added that. Why? Because it makes the game slightly better as do contests.

I'm suprised they didn't add contests. Especially since (I know the games and anime are not mutually supportive) May goes to contests all around Johto. D: I thought it'd make sense to add them.

Oh well~

I am completely overjoyed that there is no contest hall. I found them to be annoying and tedious, and never bothered with them. Always felt that they were a waste of space. But, I may feel the same way about the Pokéathlon, too, though. Not sure yet, still haven't tried it.

I wish the contest halls were more like, the contest in the anime, where you battle for points and yada, but i didn't like them that much anyway

Merged your thread on the missing Pokémon Contest Hall in the Complaints Thread.

Anyway, it is depressing that it couldn't make it into HG/SS as it was a fun aspect of the game for me. Though, if anything I'll just trade my Pokémon to DPPt if I want to enter any contests. For the meantime, I guess the Pokéathlon should keep me busy.

The three flaws (or perhaps more...) that irritates me in particular are the changed system of PC and Items, having to manually go to dowsing machine and marking map, as well as the fact that the bicycles can't shift gears and is at default a slower-version of the fast gear from DPPt.

Really enjoying the new graphics and the GB Sounds though

P.S - Moar Shinnoh legendaries plox. ):

OK, the removal of Slot Machines and replaced. Granted, I'm eager to try out Voltorb Flip, but did they really have to remove all the Slot Machines from the Game Corner for the 'Everyone' rating? With basilisks from another world, guillotining crabs, whales bringing Sheer Cold, horrendous crime syndicates, and electric mice feeling the hurt from elephants, dinosaurs, and the like (as well as foes withstanding nearly 100,000 volts of electricity from said mice), the person resonsible for this change has much more to worry about than little kids 'gambling' with fake money. I'm surprised at times that games like Platinum still managed to earn an 'Everyone' rating, especially with that awesome basilisk on the cover that could frighten little kids (I said could).

I've wondered myself why there wasn't a 'gambling' descriptor on the boxes when the Slot Machines can be seen as an allusion to such an activity. I still don't agree that a deletion of the machines was warranted, though; a simple descriptor would have sufficed, and the Game Corner doesn't even make up 5% of the game to have it cause a rating problem like this. I do not and do not plan to gamble at casinos and the like in real life, but having this harmless and entertaining diversion was a minor feature that I liked, since Pokemon is the closest I will get to 'playing the Slot Machines'. Luckily, I still have Emerald and FireRed, where the real slots can be played.

IMO, HG/SS would have been more awesome if they had kept the Slot Machines and added Voltorb Flip, similar to how RSE incorporates the Slot Machines and Roulette. 2 different diversions could've been a minor perk from all that battling.

I dislike the omission of Contests, especially when they are in Johto in the anime (yes, anime =/= games, but still...) IMO, Contests are a minor but still entertaining diversion from repetitive battling, and could have even complemented the addition of the Pokeathlon.

And last but not least: Bell Tower. Seriously, what was wrong with Tin Tower (as it was in Generation II and mentioned in DPPt)? Alliteration and a concise name! And it furthered the Lugia-Ho-oh counterpart factor! Moreover, the golden brass and silvery tin makes much more sense... Finally, even the Brass Tower had bells at one point, so Bell Tower 1 and Bell Tower 2 would be in order, I suppose.

Arrgh...oddly enough, I lost 10-15 minutes of sleep the day I found this renaming thing out. I know the translation and pun of Suzu no To can be either Bell or Tin, but come on! A perfectly established name, ruined! One of the major low (and really annoying) points of HG/SS, IMO.

These games had so much potential, though! I know naming conventions should not be a major factor in a game's worth, but…Proton, Aprijuice, Mystri Stage, Jade Orb (Green Orb goes better with Red and Blue, and Rayquaza is from Emerald Version, not Jade Version)… Sheesh! You tend to get annoyed when names get screwed up…and this is glaringly obvious in parts of Generation IV. They may not be much, but names still mean something, and are sometimes integral to the presentation of a person, place, or thing. A positive point: HeartGold and SoulSilver are awesome names, better than even the rumored DawnGold and DuskSilver

Finally, the really annoying point is that I have to see Bell Tower every time I go to Ho-oh's summary page, every time I go to 'Bell' (Tin) Tower itself, and every time some Trainer goes on sputtering about some 'Bell Tower' crap (and every time I go to research on Bulbapedia). :( In my mind, Bell Tower was, is, and always will be Tin Tower! :) (this is exactly like the Sears Tower incident in real life, with the strange renaming to Willis Tower. I respect the affiliation of the 'Willis' company as of now, but Sears Tower will always be Sears Tower!Sounds way cooler, too.)

Even one slot machine would count as gambling references which would get it a higher rating. And 'scary themes' tend to not up the rating. So yeah, even if they had one slot machine, that would be too much.

As for the Bell Tower, it's probably a more accurate translation. Since in Japanese the other tower is like called Metal Tower. Tin is a metal, so the counterpart doesn't work too well.
