Okay. You're in a jail cell. You've just been convicted of murder. However, law enforcement has allowed you to choose your punishment. You are instructed to enter one of two rooms, Room A or Room B, and given descriptions of what will happen to you in each room.

In Room A, you will go to sleep that night and wake up and spend the rest of your life in a jail cell. You will be given a reasonable amount of food each day and unlimited clean water. You will have access to laundry and bathroom facilities. You will be given a shelf full of books and a television with three channels on it to keep you occupied. You will be healthy for the rest of your life.

The catch is that you can never leave, and you will never have conscious human contact again. Everything you need is in the room. You will be watched by a surveillance camera. If you are to have a medical examination or procedure, you will be required to self-administer anesthesia by a pill or injection before anyone enters to take you to the jail's medical center. The channels you receive on the television will not be stations that contain large amounts of current news.

You will also have no internet. You will not have a telephone. You cannot receive letters from loved ones. There are no windows. There is no way out for you. You can't pull the plug on your chosen lifestyle either. There will be no quick way for you to commit suicide, and if you are to attempt suicide slowly, you will not be permitted to do so. A completely concealed worker, saying nothing, will enter your room and bind your arms to your refrigerator so that all you will be able to do is eat. The same worker will come back 24 hours later to unbind you.

The positive side, though, is that you will live a comfortable life. You won't have to worry about money, relationships, etc. You will be able to relax. You'll be given plenty of paper and pencils to write down all of your thoughts. You'll always be lonely, but you'll be able to talk to yourself without fear of alienation.

Or you could enter Room B. In Room B, you would go to sleep that night. But you don't wake up the next day.

    Which would you choose?

I'd probably choose Room B. Although Room A would seem better, you would never have anything to aspire to. If you wrote something down, nobody would ever see it (apart from the people watching you on surveillance). Everything you do would be meaningless and that would be torture.

    Room B.
A life in room A is not even worth living. Might as well just realise my life is essentially already over, so put an end to it accordingly.

    B. CBB wasting my whole life in a cell. I would probably end up killing myself anyway from the loneliness and boredom.

I already do that in my own room anyway, so Room A. Also, I'm a pacifist. I'd kill myself before taking another life, so I wouldn't have murdered anyone to begin with. Thus, I don't have to choose either room. I win.

(Well, this sure was a lousy 1000th post...)

Room B. I start to get pretty anxious if I go without extended human contact for a day, so I can't imagine how I'd fare in permanent isolation.

Definitely Room B. I don't want to spend my entire life in jail, even though the bare necessities for life are there.

    Room A.
Solitude isn't as bad as it is made out to be. Besides, I'd rather be alive than dead for now... If I get old and ready to die, I can find the means.

Feels good knowing the maximum penalty for murder is 15 years around here, so if I should ever happen to murder someone and go to jail for it, things would be WAY better for me than these two options.
Well, I'd probably take B. There's no way hell can be worse than A.

Room B. I would much rather have a quick bullet shot into my head than to spend the rest of my life in Room A, no matter how comfortable it may be. The fact that I would be constantly watched, have no human contact, and not know what is going on in the world would very likely affect my mind to the point of insanity and I would much rather die with it fully intact and plus, I think that dying in my sleep would actually be the best possible death because I would not feel anything or even know until it happens.

Definitely room A. I mean, come on. I'd never have to worry about a job, never have to work, and I could read all I want and write all I want. I'd be set for life! Honestly, with the world as it is these days, I don't really care to keep up with current happenings anyway.

There is no point to this. I'm an artist and I draw because I experience things and I turn that into a visual representation for others to see. There is no point to writing or drawing unless you can actually LIVE a life. Alienation is not a comfortable life.

Honestly, Room B. 'Cause seriously, you'll be like a pet staying in a jail cell until you die of old age, since that's the only way you'll die. D:

Also sleeping and never waking up is a good choice since you'll have a painless death and you won't know when you're literally dying. (Hope that makes sense.)

lol gimmie A any day I never viewed being alone as a bad thing I could never see another person again and it probably wouldnt bother me...

    Room B.
Nothing is worth what Room A. give you, its just un-human.

Really? Then why are you posting here? I think solitary confinement is one of the worst tortures ever.
