I can't help, but feel as though Cresselia should of been retyped as fairy. This being because of it's association with the moon and being the "light" side of the Lunar duo. (Darkrai + Cresselia)

Not to mention I always found it kind of strange that Cresselia's lunar wing was the cure to Darkrai's nightmares and yet Cresselia is a psychic type and Darkrai is a dark type. Darkrai is completely immune to Cresselia's typing. Everything that Cresselia is associated with just points to fairy not to mention the overall way it looks. Was it not retyped just because it was a legendary? Do you think Cresselia should of been retyped or am I just seeing things?

I always thought that Cresselia should've been re-typed to Fairy too. That and Jirachi and Celebi. Thoes 3 make far more sense being Fairy type than like....fucking Snubull or something.

Snuball is a fairy because there is no typing for pansy.

Snubbull has always been in the Fairy egg group for whatever reason.

I agree about Cresselia too. Though now it reminds me of Xerneas and Yveltal because they're light and darkness or in this case fairy and dark.

Snubbull made sense to me since it's in the fairy egg group. I think it kinda looks like a fairy troll if you know what I mean.

Cresselia is painfully obvious though it's truly a shame if it was looked over because it was a legendary. The only other two Pokemon that really scream fairy to me are Blissey (though I get why it didn't happen) and Delcatty.

Not only that, but it's the Fairy Pokémon as said in its Pokédex entry. (Did nobody else here remember that?)

But as others have mentioned, Cresselia does fit the mold of being a Fairy-type since it's the Lunar Pokémon (for that matter, it learns Moonblast in Generation VI).

That's the question of the day though: why is it in the Fairy egg group and is the "Fairy Pokemon" in the first place?

    Origin
Snubbull is based on a bulldog. Its species name and type may reference the Cù Sìth, a mythological creature in Celtic mythology whose name literally translates to "dog fairy".

It would make better sense if Cresselia was re-typed to fairy, definitely. It's already got access to a couple of fairy-type moves (Moonblast, for one), and all they would have to do (well, perhaps not have to, but if they wish, as it could generally make the Pokémon better due to STAB) is give Cresselia a few extra fairy attacks, and it should be set, hopefully. Same goes for others such as Jirachi and Celebi (as we have stated in some of our posts on here).

I agree with the other two also. It almost seems like psychic was just used as a hold over for a lot of legendary Pokemon. I mean even the lake trio has fairy like qualities.

Haha, Snubbul. Even without remembering its species name, I wasn't really surprised at its type change (not least because it's a pink ugly-cute thing used by female NPCs and looks like it wears a dress) and assumed Game Freak had their reason in whatever they based it on. As for Cresselia, given Fairy moves' association with the Moon, and Cresselia being the quintessential Moon Pokemon, I agree it should be Fairy-type. Maybe the same could be said of Lunatone, in that case, but I feel Psychic remains more appropriate for Lunatone.
