You won't need to use it often, you can use tinderboxes or light that is already around. You'll find plenty more tinderboxes and lanterns on your journey, but you'll soon realise that it's best to use them when really needed. You have to manually fill the lantern though, by clicking the canisters first (in the menu).

I like Amnesia.
It reminded me of Silent Hill 2 in the sense where you are left to your own devices in the 'horror' element.

It's supposed to add to the element. Though it might be a little difficult to move from game to real life. Like lets say if you were in that situation, I'm not 100% sure you'd want to keep looking.
But on the other hand, looking at the monster has a greater chance in it seeing you (you sort of find out why later).

Makes me wonder where the demo cuts off to. In the beginning for me, it was just random open doors and also that hideaway portion. As well, the first encounter with one of them, it was just a dissolving appirition I guess, like that it was about to grab me but I saw it and disappeared (where in there after they are not afraid of you) XD
I'm thinking they just want to keep you scared anywya.

Yeah so.. between the last time I posted on this thread and now, I was reading walkthroughs and watching gameplay videos of Amnesia (no volume tho). Holy hell. Now I'm curious about some of the torture scenes I missed out on.
In all admiration - the sanity meter, and how if affects the environment & gameplay? - that's great. The portrait was a nice touch. /shudder
