I guess it was a coincidence? But next year we also have the upcoming Winter Olympics in Russia, and funnily enough Russia got the hosting rights for the 2018 World Cup.

But oh god I remember how embarrassing it was to see Qatar winning the 2022 World Cup hosting rights. Especially when Australia worked so hard to try and win the ballot, but ended up with a measly one vote. Seriously, what were they thinking? Qatar is such a hot place they'd be sure to flop with hosting a major sporting event.

And also, I finally got to see pics of Fuleco, the 2014 World Cup mascot and apparently he's an armadillo? Don't know what the species has to do with Brazil though.

Germany stomps us easily. Ghana has a lot of physical power and the US are no pushovers. It will be tough, but let's hope that Ronaldo and Moutinho are at their top, else our offensive power will turn into a big zero.

The group of death is E, no one can guess who will pass that group. France's group is a joke. Belgium will go far, they have some really nice players. Brazil's team is really good, and they will be playing home. Spain and Holland will be fun to watch. And that's about it.

Qatar hosting a World Cup is an even bigger joke than France's group. Blatter (another joke) keeps telling everyone that 2022 will be played during Winter, but you'd have to change the dates on most competitions in the world which would likely have to be played over Summer.
The joint Portugal/Spain bidding was said to be amazing and matched only by England's, but both got kicked almost right at the start. I wonder what the criteria of selection is...

I do have to agree France got handed a very easy group, same with Argentina. But it's Group H that has the interesting ones, I've heard that Belgium is getting talked a lot as the likely one to win in that group, but you know there might always be a surprise every now and then.

And lol I was browsing World Cup-related posts and you should have seen all the American, English and Australians' reactions to their chosen groups. Some of the American posts are really showing them being mad that they were drawn with the likes of Germany and Portugal.

Oh god, that is just as bad as the heat. I'd imagine what would happen if their hosting of the World Cup is a huge flop. At least Russia getting the hosting rights for 2018 is way more sensible.

If the United States were to ever host the World Cup again, I'd probably be interested in attending a large event, depending on which cities are hosting it. Then again, I know literally nothing about soccer.

I wish that my country able to host it sometime. I remember when my country attempted to bid for the future World Cup (of 2018 or 2022 if I recall right) with no avail, but at least, if my country qualifies as the contestants of World Cup again, I'll gladly support it.

Group H is sorta the most interesting one because the outcome will be pretty unpredictable compared to the others. Belgium is the one getting tipped by most to win this group but second place could pretty well go to any of the other three.
