Do you like to debate? Why or why not? Are there any special topics which you're particularly good at debating?

Not particularly, I am too lazy to get involved in these sorts of things. Unless I am really passionate about something, in which case I could go as far as fighting to the theoretical death to defend my point of view.

I think debates are a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge waste of time. I'll debate a little while, but after a while I just get in the mindset that it's completely pointless to debate whatever I'm debating and wasting time, and that I don't really care enough about the other person's opinions on the matter anyway and don't care enough of changing them or challenging them and then I'm just like okay then, if you say so...

Hypocritically, I don't have a problem with arguing, especially since I'm right and they're wrong. :P

I don't like debating because I suck at it. I never have enough proof to back up anything. Also I'm just a pushover. And I don't have practice at it. So yeah I just don't debate at all. :(

I don't do much debating because I don't like having too much information to support my side of the argument. It also needs a lot of insight and I'm bad at that.

I like debating scientific issues and I'm pretty good at it, but with most other things I don't tend to care enough to keep up the argument and just hand it to them. So yeah, debating is alright if you have a decent topic :3

I love watching debates because they are entertaining and educational..but i just watch..i'm not good at performing infront of people

Depends on the topic of the debate and the format. I would never go for a live debate, though I've had to in school a few times and I think I did fairly well, but that was against people who didn't care to come up with very strong arguments.

Having strong opinions on a lot of things like I do and having read a lot of stuff pertaining to politics, society, and so on makes me more aware of when people are saying things that are either just plain wrong ("Obama was born in Kenya") or stem from a certain kind of worldview that bases itself around something faulty/troubling at its core ("Women shouldn't be in the military"). I often feel like I need to say something to either correct something factually incorrect or to get a person to think about the assumptions they are making when they make broad statements. This'll sometimes turn into an impromptu mini-debate.

Any kind of debate pertaining to gender and sexuality is one where I'll be all over that.

It usually depends on the topic and whether or not I think debating the topic is a huge waste of time.

For example, I don't get into abortion debates because it's the kind of debate where it doesn't really matter what your stance is; you won't convince most people to go over to your position and both sides do nothing but piss the other side off; in other words, a gigantic waste of time. Politics are another thing I don't usually debate on simply because I just couldn't care less.

I also don't bother debating about something I know nothing about and I think it would do the world wonders if more people followed this philosophy.

I hate debating because I'm always right but I have trouble adequately explaining to the other people why they're wrong. Then since my opponents are invariably good at articulating themselves, they make well reasoned and thought-out arguments and it ends up making it look like they're right when they're not.

Debatings not my thing but if someones debating something and are completely wrong I'll join in and set them straight (wooooo)
Besides that I tend to steer clear of that drama. Debaters usually know what they are talking to and will just rip me to shreds if Im only half inform and I dont enjoy that..

No; I seek to avoid adversity in life. I have occasionally joined such matters as a learning experience, but never come out better for it.

Obviously, I only like debating subjects that I am really interested in and know a lot about; never saw the point in debating over something you know so little about.

I like debating when the person I'm debating with actually follows proper protocol. For instance, if the topic is the Wii U and I bring up the first point, the person on the opposing end should cover my points and then provide his own...not simply ignore my point and then speak his opinion like a childish git. Also, I respect people that actually debate...properly, even. It shows they're willing to fight for what they believe in as opposed to rolling over and dying.

I can argue and debate about films and TV until the cows come home. With other stuff that I'm interested in and/or have a lot of knowledge about, I can also try my hand in a lil' debate. Everything else, however, I try not to get involved in. What annoys me more than anything else are people debating issues that they have no idea about, so whenever I do enter into one, I make sure to know as many facts and details as possible.

Debating, naaaaaah. Never interested, it's boring and usually a waste of time because most of the topics I argue about are opinionated and depends about how each person thinks.

I enjoy debating/arguing a lot. I can go and look up a ton of sources, find proof for my claims, refute the points that the other person has made, and have fun while doing it. Sometimes I get frustrated though, because the ways in which the other person is stumbling in their reasoning are so obvious to me but I can usually never manage to get them to see why that point is wrong. Especially if the conclusion they take from it is really far fetched and opposite of my own, generally they never see my side.

I hate debating. I like having input, but I don't like coming back to a thread to argue or debate with someone. I might if I feel like they're completely wrong and/or out of line, but it's rare. I just don't like having people put down my opinions or make me sound like an idiot. And debates on serious topics tend to make me mad, and I don't want to feel mad.
