When you cut an onion, you're also breaking apart the cells. An onion cell has two sections; one contains enzymes, and the other contains chemicals called sulfides. When the cells break apart, the enzymes break down the sulfides and produce an acid, which decomposes into a gas that dissipates through the air and eventually into the eyes, where it forms a mild solution of sulfuric acid upon contact; the acid irritates the eye's nerve endings, and tears are formed in response in order to dilute and remove the acid.

Hey, somebody here asked why onions make people cry. I'm just answering.

o.o and.. onions make you cry because of the natural chemicals released into the air when you cut them open
only some people cry when cutting onions (I know I don't)
._. it's kinda like.. why some people sneeze when they smell pollen or whatever I guess ._.

*shrugs* at least that's what I think anyways..

And if you don't think it's a sad thing, then the odor that the onion releases when you chop it up will just make you tear anyways. =D

There are literally no other threads on PC for me to post in besides this one.

Edit: If you merged my accounts together, I'd have more posts than any of you, not including the ones that don't affect my postcount. And even with this account alone, I have more posts than most of you, yet I don't see why you make a big deal out of it. O_o

The only threads I'd be able to make are polls, and they'd entertain me for a couple of minutes at the most. Plus there's that stupid one per day rule.

Well, most people use it for happy things as far as I know.

Nah let the onions die...they don't feel anything..unlike broccolli(I forgot howta smell it XD).
