I think it's fun. I may not frequent often, but it's something nice to go to. Then again, I just think polls are awesome. :3

I like it a lot; this is a really fun place to hang out. PVP has been kind of inactive for the past few months though, but to fix that, perhaps you guys could host some posting events like the one Olli's doing over at Pokémon Clubs? Don't know how many people would actually be interested in them, but personally, I would. That's for sure. (:

I do enjoy PVP a lot, especially after the success of the Favorite Pokemon Tournament which ended with the Gengar fans reigning supreme so yeah I'm hoping we get more events like it to see if opinions change over time. And I think both Brendan and Rika do an amazing job together, keep up the good work you two!

I love PvP a lot haha. I myself haven't posted here as much as I would like lately but overall this is still one of my favorite sections here at PC that I would definitely always love to be a part of. Keep up the good work guys <3

Pokemon voting polls are a great part of the form that everyoe can have their say which I enjoy seeing.

I may not always vote on the available polls (I don't think there usually are many tbh), but I like contributing to the threads regardless. Sometimes there can be some really interesting thread ideas.

I like the polls, I don't always post in them but I always vote in them. It's fun to see a little competition between people's favorite Pokemon.

It's good to read over detailed posts from regulars in PvP for me. I can wager opinions together, and I sure enjoy knowing why and how they pick certain element instead of the rest. People like RHCP, Jamais, Nymphadora etc. always have posts that I look into. So it's great, though the interaction level here is little since there's no person agreeing/discussing views here, and there's minimum quoting other posts. I believe there should be some way to change things.

Good points! It's the nature of the forum, which is both comfortable but also a bit sad. If we tried to change it to be more like a game, it could be too similar to Pokémon Trivia. If we changed it to hold more discussion, it would be similar to PGen and thus sort of redundant.

... brainstorm idea here, but what if there were prefixes in PVP, called [Detailed] and [Casual]? For Casual threads, posting a line or two would be okay and the main goal would be to summarize the votes once the thread has gotten some, to see what the general opinion really was - much like now. With Detailed threads, you'd get the chance to write LOOOONG replies with loads of details :D not necessarily like in a discussion. But if you feel bored and just really want to write a lot about a rather simple choice, you could do so in Detailed threads.

The thing about PVP is that I often see threads that ask about favorites, which tend to be post-and-gos. The title 'Pokémon Voting Polls' leads me to believe that every thread should have a poll at the top of the page. Rather I see many threads that aren't as serious as the parent forum and sometimes the lack of a poll. I don't have a problem with it, it's just that it can be misleading, especially for newer members. Many threads in PVP are very basic and seem to be appropriate for the parent forum. One way to solve this would be changing the name of PVP to something even more general like 'Minor Pokémon Discussions,' 'General Pokémon Opinions,' or 'Pokémon Terminal.' Those are just examples, I'm sure someone else could come up with something better. Another idea is to enforce polls when creating threads, but that seems a little too limiting. I don't dislike PVP and I like how it's being maintained. I also understand its purpose as a fun place for more relaxed discussions and less time consuming posts. I'm just giving my thoughts.

Actually, we prefer if there's not really any discussion in here. It's difficult as it is to keep a border between PGen and PVP.

We've thought of other names, but mostly still including the term "poll". I like your suggestion with "General Pokémon Opinions, actually! It might reflect the section more than "Voting Polls" does, in its current state.

Enforcing a poll would restrict more than help, most likely, yeah. If someone asks "what is your favorite area in pokémon?", you can't exactly include every known area from every media there. Or even from all the games. Or even from one game! In a poll. But if you don't have a poll, just ask for the opinion, it works.

I guess the discussion factor was something that confused me. I was thinking that you wanted more discussion for PVP but now everything is clear. What about changing the name to something like 'Pokémon Polls and Opinions,' or 'Pokémon Opinions and Voting Polls?' Also I agree with your opinion on not enforcing polls. I was just offering an example for avoiding confusion with the name.

Polls and Opinions sounds good to me. It was mostly the "Voting" we wanted to get away from. I'm not sure about the "polls" still though. Ohai Jamais, u have opinions on that?

I forget about this section simply because it's a subsection. I enjoy voting, but I don't do it nearly enough! I agree, I like the sounds of "Polls and Opinions" more than simply voting. That seems to broaden the horizon s a little.

Since we try and keep discussions to a minimum here in PVP (not that they're discouraged, but that's what seperates it from Pokemon General), I think that Pokemon Opinions & Polls accurately describes the section better than the current title. I know that we've tossed around names like General Pokemon Polls, but that still implies that the main focus is to get members to vote in polls, when many current threads ('Generational Dream Team' and 'What Pokemon Would You Want IRL' come to mind) are where we're looking for your opinions, but not neccessarily a vote.

I think I'd prefer Pokemon Opinions & Polls more than General Pokemon Opinions or Pokemon Opinions and Voting Polls, simply because we'd just be dropping the 'Voting' part, and replacing it with 'Opinions &'. That, and I'm a stickler for alphabetical order when listing things, so I'd prefer it to be Opinions & Polls rather than Polls & Opinions, but that might just be me.

'Pokémon Polls and Opinions' rolls off the tongue better than 'Pokémon Opinions and Polls' IMO and you also form an alliteration. Any of the two sound fine to me but I'd like to go with something more creative. I was thinking of 'Pokémon Politics' but that endorses a sense of discussion.

Pokemon Polls and Opinions sounds better, gotta agree. Sorry Brendan! Still, I feel like I want to ponder an eventual name change a bit more first.
