    I hate this question

Do you find yourself asking this a lot? Or being ASKED this a lot? It's ridiculous what can happen if this is asked within a crowd of people you know. o_o

It was mostly back in high school, and I usually had gum, so I usually ended up giving most of it away. :'(

To be honest I've never heard of anyone say it before xD I mean instead of people asking me, if I had gum it became "Do you want some?" instead. Not just me but more people I know just ask if people want gum rather to ask if they have gum.

On the rare occasion that I pull out gum in public, I'm usually inundated by the hordes of people who seem to pop out of nowhere whenever someone pulls out gum. I give a piece to a couple of people if I'm feeling generous, but otherwise I try keep what I can to myself. It's selfish, but I hate when people ask me for gum expecting I'll make it rain thousands of pieces onto their hands, ugh.

I haven't heard it mentioned since I graduated high school and I haven't had a piece of gum in over 2 years myself. However, I did meet one of my best friends this way in high school :) She always had a pack of gum on her in class so I would ask for a piece and after a few times of that happening, VOILA GOING ON 7 OR SO YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP.

I don't chew gum often, so I never find myself asking other people for gum. I haven't heard of any people ask for gum at a random time.

I only chew gum in the car, oddly so I don't ask - I just check the center console and get my own gum. As far as being asked about it, I recall that I was asked most often about between 6th and 10th grades, and it did annoy me a bit, but not as much as when those same kids asked me to do their homework for them.

I remember getting asked this a lot in my classes and when you actually do have gum, everyone automatically becomes your new best friend. >B/

In grade school and middle school, yes. Now, not really. Now it's more on the lines of "Do you have a cigarette?" lol.

I've not been asked this since high school. I've only chewed gum a few times since high school, so I wouldn't have it anyway.

My answer has always been and will always be No.
Unless they are a pretty girl then its yes!

I do always ask people and expect them to give it to me though, is that selfish?

Also the best trick in the book "Last piece." or if that fails "Got it off someone else." Thats how you get out of this question without giving them anything!
