4th Gen elemental punches?

Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, and Ice Punch were already brought back with a Move Tutor in Platinum, so no, I sincerely doubt it. Besides, no new TMs will be added due to compatibility issues, anyway.

Yeah the punches were not TMs recently, but move tutors. I'm sure they'll bring it back, but they won't be put in as TMs. For the mart, they'll probably put in some basic TMs, items, and such things. We'll see as more time goes by.

yea i wander if ash (red) will be featured because everytime i play through his guys are like 80 and mine are like 45-55. its so annoying i wish there was a little more to train my guys, but i also rush so....

so what will u be able to buy in the mart if it not them

Perhaps some other random TM, and perhaps nothing at all. There is no way to know for certain exactly what will be there, if anything.

I like the move tutor idea, but I dodn't wanna get a heart scale or big mushroom to learn a new move.

Does this mean headbutt is out? that move was awesome.

Compatibility issues? That's when you add new moves, pokemons or drastrically change the battling system, as in D/P. It's not in which way your pokemon has one move (level up, breeding...) its if it has or not the move.

I think they'll have them as Move Tutors, not TM's. There are other way more important moves to make TMs. D/P/Pt have already a great number of TMs and HMs.

I think the issues root from the ability to hold and trade TMs.

There are compatibility issues with changing the TMS though - as you know, they are tradeable items and so forth. Yet, DPPt have a set TM system already - changing what TMs are in Gold/Silver would result in having to add in limits so that one can't trade the TMs (which would be iffy and also means one can't trade TMs - hardly a fun outcome), or leave it as is - but trading a TM that doesn't match up with D/P/Pt's coding and all will cause problems.

It's why the first 50 TMs from RSE are the same in FR/LG and D/P/PT, and also why the 'Time Machine' in GSC was used to trade with RBY - so one couldn't trade Pokemon that simply didn't exist or had data in RBY.

(Note that HMs however can change, as they are not tradeable for obvious reasons).

I think it's possible that some Move Tutors may come about instead to teach people the TMs, even if some are already taken care of in Platinum - it's the only feasible way, really, for us to be able to get the old moves again.

Having a new move tutor would make sense, I mean they could always bring back that on move tutor from crystal that only appeared on certain days and took game corner coins as payment and change the moves they taught with the elemental punches.

I highly doubt it. I mean why would they re-do an entire TM set, when they could just carry over the current one? Maybe they'll add them in as TMs # 93-95.

They can't do that because TMs can be traded over between games. What would happen if someone tried to trade over a Pokemon holding one of those new TMs to D/P/Pt?

In the hypothetical situation: they would be declared as "illegal", and the player would be told that the Pokemon can not be traded unless the item was removed. That was how it was when trading between G/S/C and R/B/Y.

But I said "hypothetical" because it would seem likely that the punches would remain as a move tutor move, only so that HG/SS could be compatible with D/P/Pt. So no new TMs, or a switch of TMs, but still a way to get the moves so the Pokemon themselves can be traded.

No more TMs, please. ;-;

They would probably do that.

Move Tutor idea is fine , and keeping the the D/P/Pt TMs is fine too

just take the FR/LG Idea people...

Nah, like everyone has said, they couldn't fit the elemental punches as a TM because of compatibility issues.

However, I can see them being learned from hatched Pokémons or just by the basic Move-Tutors. ^^'
