I read the prologue and gave up on it... It's really more a fad than anything else, like a certain other journey fic on Sppf right now...

Yeah, Psychic, instead of us all creating topics to ask questions that are simply answered, we can just ask them here and not clutter up the forum. It's also just a place for authors to ask for reviews, talk about their fics, and basically relax.

Okay, I've read the first chapter of Saber's first fic and wondered why everyone loved it so much. There wasn't anything truly spectacular about it. Maybe towards the end it got better, but if I don't like the beginning of a fic, I won't hang around until the end.

Heh, my review of Saber's prologue is mostly me going all grammar-Nazi- mostly the whole "comma, quotation, and capitalization" thing, but also the affect/effect homonym mix-up.

On that subject, with Hanako-chan's permission, I would like to copy/paste my Grammar Advice from Sppf onto the grammar lesson thread here. I cover quite a few homonyms not on here yet, and also a section on commas/semicolons. It is in a different format, mind you...

Well, the first chapters weren't that great, but it gets so much better it's not funny. What am I saying, the first chaps weren't very good at all. But it's one of the rare journey fics that are actually completed and are actually good.

Seriously, I recommend everyone to at least look at PR:O. In one hour, through the lag, theres already been 7 reviews. O_O

Yeah, in agreement with duncan here. The first chapters started out decent but then it gets good. I think I got interested in it after one of the scenes in the beginning that made me laugh so hard. XD

Seven reviews already? O.o I guess the members got their shopping done early! XD

And also, thank you, DarkPersian, and Psychic for the congrats! ^^ Saber's story and the awards now made me get my lazy butt out and edit Chapter Three of my fic! XD

(Goes do it now)

EDIT: Before I go, I really apperciate the review you gave me on my one-shot, Hanako. Really great advice there. :) Will do a more indepth reply tomorrow, probably. ^^
 
say, this question's been kinda bugging me for a while: do I seem a bit too out of place around here? For those that don't know me, I've pretty much rejected writing fanfiction altogether to focus more on doujinshi (for that matter, I'm not very big on literary media in the first place). In spite of that, I still see myself lurking around author forums and whatnot. I of course have my reasons, which I can explain should anyone ask. Maybe me sticking around can be viewed as justifiable since, whether written or drawn, I'm still dealing with fictional material regardless, but I'd still care to hear some of your thoughts on the matter.

You can be anywhere you wanna be, that's what I think. I don't really think your preferences in fanworks should stop you. Most doujins art or even game are said to be visual fanfics of sorts I hear.

Besides, lurking is all good and fun, especially if you there's not much you wanna say. No problem in "checking stuff out" right? My question is: since this question has been eating at you for some time, what would lead you to think of something like that?

It is true that her first chapter isn't anything special. And it does get better later. A lot of people really like it. I just never finished XD.. well, more like I read stuff here and there. She does write long, long chapters though that put even Sike and her 'fic to shame. o.0 Although she does double-double space a lot for a reason I can't quite comprehend. I guess it's just up to your tastes.

And congrats for your wins, Bay.

I really never seemed to notice anything out of place about you. XD A lot of people come to chat about writing in this forum, so I've always figured you were a reviewer or something. *shrug*

That makes two of us. I always figured that you were just in-between fics or something, Yamato-san. xD Anyways, you still have experience from the world of fanfic writing and you usually bring up a good point or two in discussion, so I wouldn't really call you out of place. Besides, a lot of the stuff discussed concerns the franchise rather than the written format, so it's really equally relevant for fanfics and Doujishins. ^^

Anyways, two reviews done and done, and royalprophecies; I'm not touching yours until you put those first chapters back up. Just lemme' know when that happens, okay?

Off to Shining Nightmare for me, then. :3

Okay, so far on my reviewing/fanfiction progress:

-Still need to do "Heart of the Magma"
-Got the review of Chapter One of "Season Champs" done. Two more to go!
-No progress on Griff's fic yet (will most likely not get to it until winter break, sorry! )
-Halfway done with editing the third chapter of my fic

So yeah Schythemaster, your review will come tonight and it will be either with the first two chapters or the first three chapters (the former is most likely). I just hope my internet won't crash O.o.
