Disregard that last post! I'm back!

Oh yeah, I've been reading through the past one hundred and sixty four pages and I have a question. Who was Omni Flygon?
 
See? I told you it wouldn't be permanent. ;D

Anyways, Oni Flygon used to mod this section, I believe. I wasn't really active around here at that time, so I don't know much about him, though.

Then it was Oni Pichu, then he got promoted and now it's Hanako, right?

As for the whole losing my connection thing - I thought that was it, so I ended up writing three pages worth of goodbyes to all my good friends here, though how I would've posted it is another question.

Ah, that reminds me - I promised ACC-M that I'd review his thief fanfic. Off I go.

Heh, glad your still here. :D That wasn't very long.

Anyway, I just posted Chapter Eight. Sorry I'm posting these so fast, but I'm nearly done with Legends of Sinnoh and I want to get caught up here. Yeah...
 
How much chapters is it going to have? I'm just trying to get an idea so I can divide the amount of chapters into two or three reviews...

Oh, urgent:

I need a girl's name that is both classy but ordinary... Any help?

Just Google search a website for baby names and have fun picking out a name. It's what I do.

As for the mods, there were other mods here other than oni flygon and Oni Pichu. There was also Lily, who was mod when I joined. Then she became a Super Moderator and the place was left modless for a while. Then someone else was stuck into here for a while before Oni Pichu (At the time, Careful With That Axe, Pichu) came here. I also do quite believe that Frostweaver was a mod, but I'm not sure about him, since that was way before my time.

Still not reviewing because I don't feel like it. :P
 
Hanako! You just got me the name! Hanako Tabris! Classy, origianal and has a hint of mystique...

Don't say I'm stealing - you took it off your brother.

Twelve chapters. Yeah, I'm pretty much done now. I've just got to fix up the last chapter and epilogue and I'll be done with LoS, which will be a relief.

Eh? You're stealing Hanakos' name? Heh, good luck with that. XD That's one way to get reviews from her. XD Just kidding.
 
'Stealing' is such a harsh word, Duncan... I would say that I'm borrowing it and never giving it back...

Of course I need her permission before I can use it, I hinted that in my last post, either that or my language skills are rapidly decreasing.

I think the first moderator was Nick (i.e., the creator of this thread) and then I think shadow was modded, then a long line of mods then Lily Oni Flygon, Oni Pichu and now HANAKO!

I'm going to slow down posting the chapters. A little bit. Maybe. I'll probably post chapter 9 on Sunday, so look for it then.
 
*dies of laughter* Yeah, right. I'm not lending this name out to anyone. The story that this name is taken from will be finished. My brother handed it all over to me.

Besides, even if you do "borrow" this name, I still hate the idea of lending out characters from one fanfiction to another, especially if they are original characters. It would be like me giving permission to someone else to write about...oh say, Shinrai Hamasaki, from my Digimon fic. No other fanfic author will get her character as correct as I could, since she's not a canon character and is not open to interpretation. It would just be wrong to see her in the hands of someone else. She's my brain child (though she would hate being called that).

It's better to come up with your own characters to fulfill their purpose rather than taking an idea. (Ugh. I'm trying to get this post to not sound like I'm dissing the entire idea of fanfiction.) See, with fanfiction, we're all taking some things from the original works. But really, as long as it's not for profit, the creators don't care, except for some of them.

It's the same with fanfiction writers. Some allow their characters to be used by others. Other fanfiction writers are snippy little beasts. I'm the latter, unfortunately.

This name has symbolic meaning for the story that it's used in. It's better to work at choosing your own name because then it's more special to you and isn't just something that you borrowed from someone else.
 
I was wondering for a long time how you would write a comeback to that one. You see, the only reason I borrow - alright, steal - names is out of respect. It's like, if I loved a very important piece of bread - would I steal it? Probably, to show my undying loyalty to it.

That probably sounds amazingly weird and everything but if you're as deep as I am it'd make sense.

Stupid names, the only good girl's name for what I'm writing at the moment is 'Ceceily' but I need three names. So, that's one. Nathaniel is another, I'm seriously thinking of putting down Phoenix.

Now, I've been told I'd be an amazing politic because I will always argue and I will always find a loophole. You haven't seen that yet because I haven't argued with you guys - yet. The problem is, I hate politics. They're corrupt and pathetic. They don't do anything for the world and when they do it's too late.

People abandon Countries because of politics as easy as they ban PC because of the ones here.

Democracy isn't politics.

Domocracy is choice.

Choice isn't polictics.

I can totally see this turning into a heated argument, I'm waiting for replies.

Funny you should mention respect. For me, it's the direct opposite of the sentiment. Usually, the more I like the character the more reluctant I am to play it or pick it apart for my own purposes. Why? Because I like that character to stay in character, and to do that said character has to stay firmly in the creator's hands. (Because really: no matter how much you study a character, only its original creator really knows precisely how it will act) I also like my favorite character to be unique, so to me plagiarizing (partially or completely) or controlling the character just feels...wrong. :<

Seriously, it's like Hanako says: if you want a truly awesome character you'll have to work out each and every bit of it on your own. Sure, you might like your copycat character, but at the same time it will never be more than a pale reflection of the original and I guarantee you, when you look back, the parts you didn't make yourself will stick out like a sore thumb. A lot of my characters may have their flaws (not speaking in terms of personality but in terms of my writing for them) but they are still special to me precisely because they are mine. Not something I stole from an anime or whose name I ripped from elsewhere but the concoctions of my own, depraved mind.

Yeah, in case somebody didn't figure it out yet, I'm definitely the snippy little beast type. Touch any of my RP characters and I will bite.

And probably smite you with a herring as well.

Or possibly even a stapler.

Bottom line is: don't do it. :<

Sure, prologues should be obscure and all, but if knowing some of the mission details would change the reader's perception of the fic (in a direction you want to change it towards) then go for it. If not then don't. There's a lot to be said for keeping your readers in suspense about things throughout the fic and having them learn about the mission as your characters do so. (As I assume they will find out about it at some point?)

I was kinda thinking that since the prologue does take place during the middle of an exploration mission it'd only be natural to have some kind of details regarding the progress of its so far, it was just that little factoid that prologues should be considerably obscure that choked me up a little. But, then, its not exactly like there's an immediate follow up involving those characters right away anyways, so I'll go with some details.

Anyways, I'm almost ready to repost it...hopefully this version will go over really well. Thanks for the info, Alter Ego.
