Favorite Gym Leader?

[Harmonious Fusion]

Mine is Wulfric. The actual battle with him is kind of a letdown, because ice is such an easy type to beat, but I just love his personality. He's confident in his own strength, but he recognizes you as a skilled opponent, and he's sincerely proud of you and your Pokemon when you win. Plus, the way he cares about not only his own Pokemon, but also the ones in the village, is pretty heartwarming.

What about you? Which gym leader(s) really stood out to you?

 

[Rosehip]

Candice. I loved her personality, how she's "the opposite of how an Ice-type Gym Leader should behave". She's warm and friendly, and oh so huggable. <3

I think I went through a fangirling phase about Candice. She's so cute, her name's really..well, realistic, and her Pokemon of choice (particularly Platinum) are centred around brute force. Not that much status at all with her.

 

[Hiatus]

I have a lot, with Whitney being one of them. She does have a childish personality, but when facing her, she gives you an extremely tough challenge. With her Milktank, she could go through your team pretty easily, regardless of what Pokémon you have. Last time I faced her in SoulSilver, it took me about six to seven tries to finally get her beaten. That's a lot, isn't it? ;o; Been playing Pokémon for a long time, so for me, I'd say it is. If I were new, then that would have been perfectly understandable. Aside from her, I also like Claire, as she's also quite hard to get through. Few of my other favorites include Juan, Wallace, Giovanni, Blue, Sabrina, Winona, and Tate and Liz.

 

[Sonata]

I really like Blue and Whitney. Those are the only two times a gym has actually challenged me. Whitney for an obvious reason, dat miltank, and Blue because he just has a bunch of different pretty strong pokemon.

 

[Meganium]

Most Grass-type leaders like Erika and Gardenia are my favorites. I adore their sweet and kind personalities towards grass-types and such. <3

But my most favorite is Elesa. She's so sassy and so awesome. She owns two gyms and a theme park. SHE'S ALSO A MODEL. :33

 

[Ace Dynamo]

Elesa for me, ohh especially in Black and White 2. That Fashion Runway was really awesome, got me pumped to battle too.

probably Elesa, she is beautiful, intelligent and very powerful. she's a model too, a sort of dream profession for me. Cx

yeah, i'm going to have to go with her, she's so beautiful. :p

 

[Clemstar]

Cheren and Blue. I guess it's just because of the whole nostalgia with them being in previous games and then returning as bigger and greater characters.

 

[Kikaito plush]

I really like Jasmine because she is really sweet and strong as well.

I forgot about Jasmine! Now that you mention her, though, I remember really liking her back in the day.

I also love Valerie's character design and Pokemon team, but her personality doesn't really do much for me.

It's gotta be Janine.

On top of being simply adorable, she's a ninja that has mastered my all-time favorite type and forces her male underlings to crossdress whenever the player is challenging the gym because she can. >:P

 

[Pendraflare]

One personal favorite of mine as of recent is Clemont from XY. He's an inventor, and he's all about how THE FUTURE IS NOW! I like how he powers up Lumiose Tower after you save the Power Plant, and battling him was actually kinda interesting, unlike every other Kalos Gym Leader first time.

Other than that, I also really like Clay from Unova, and Crasher Wake from Sinnoh. Clay for being a businessman with a rowdy attitude, and his southern accent. I usually find him to be a good challenge with that Excadrill. Then there's Crasher Wake, with his EPIC THEME SONG AND BEING A PRO WRESTLER! Not to mention you see him in cameos in both HGSS and BW2.

Whitney gave me the most challenge. I was actually watching a friend play Silver recently. He kept losing to Whitney, went in the wild to train, and found Raikou. Lucky punk. -.-

Clemont give me a giggling feeling when he talk to his sister
Mort always my favorite gym leader because how calm he was
You question how many ELDERLY gym leaders out there, and I like Pyrce because he is old and so does the Kalso Grass-gym leader, Elderly gym leader needs love too

Falkner: he's cool and energetic attitude
Wake: because he is a mucha libre anyway
and Candice because most ice-type gym doesn't have that "warm" feeling

I agree with your sentiment about elderly gym leaders, but the Kanto Grass gym leader, Erika, is quite youthful tbqh. :P

Kind of a toss up between Erika and Jasmine. They're the gym leaders of my top two favorite types and they come off to me as quiet, yet they still just do their own thing which is generally how I see myself I guess.

My two favorite Gym Leaders have always been Koga and Jasmine

Something about Koga being a ninja and a Pokemon trainer really caught my attention as a kid, and I thought it was the coolest that he was added to the Elite Four later on. As for Jasmine, I've always loved that she has a quiet, caring demeanor, yet trains Steel type Pokemon, which are seemingly the exact opposite of her personality.

I think this discussion could branch out a lot more in Pokemon Voting Polls, since that will be inclusive of the anime, manga, TCG (Gym Challenge set anyone?), etc. :) Off it goes!

Well there are plenty of memorable gym leaders for me, some being Whitney, Jasmine, Iris, Blue, Morty, Maylene. But my personable favourite is easily Janine, she's tough and spunky and I love poison types, I like how she's not similar to the other soulsilver and heartgold gym leaders I had already faced, and she was really tough to beat. The BEST gym leader for me easily!
