Feature your art, stories, and challenge runs on Daily!

We're opening up new types of pages on PokéCommunity Daily - art galleries, story repositories, and challenge runs. In short - if you have your own art gallery thread on PC, a completed challenge run/travel journal thread, or a completed fanfiction (or several!) or roleplay thread on Pokémon, then you can also have it hosted on a Daily article page. We'll even help you have it set up!

    Art galleries

If you have a thread for your artwork in the Art Studio forum section, you can ask for an article to be be made to mirror it. (This does not replace your existing thread - think of it as an alternate way to showcase your work). You'll have a choice of gallery displays to use from (even multiple if you want). Here are some examples (still screenshots of it in action):

    Spoiler:

Or you can have a big slideshow that you can click between. It doesn't handle l o n g images too well but otherwise works well.
    Spoiler:

And we have another layout which will resize multiple images and arrange them neatly, which we have used before - see https://daily.pokecommunity.com/202...prigatito-floragato-and-meowscarada-fanworks/ for a live article version. They are clickable in this url so you can see it in action! Still screenshot below:

    Spoiler:

You can update the galleries separately if using the Modula galleries, or else by editing the article. Images will need to be rehosted on Daily to be used.

    Stories

If you have a completed story or roleplay thread, you can request an article version of it as well. (We can make exceptions for in-progress stories, but we would rather focus on completed stories for now). Stories can be one-shots or chaptered fics, with the latter making use of multiple pages within one article.

    Challenge runs

If you have a completed challenge run (either documented in the Challenges or Travel Journal forum section), you can request an article version of it as well. (We can make exceptions for in-progress challenges, but we would rather focus on completed game runs for now). They can be in different formats e.g. full blown screenshot runs are doable - but these will naturally take longer to put together.

    How fancy can I get?

If you prefer things to be quickly made, that is straightforward to do. However, we can break out some fancier formatting, such as using pull quotes and images in stories, or even CSS to really highlight your art or story. For examples, check out pages from Rivvon's Black and White Analysis articles, or this article on the plot of the Kanto games. The catch is that these require more work to set up, and if you want something different to what we've created before, we'd appreciate some input from you on the CSS side!

    Spoiler:

    What else?

    • At this stage, we want to feature Pokémon content. Fakemon is an exception. If you have fanworks featuring Pokemon and other franchises/OC, that is fine.
    • We (Daily staff members) will help. But you can also do it all yourself if you'd like, of course.
    • For these pages, we intend for ads to be turned off (but do let us know if this has been overlooked) so that they look better.
    • We are not looking to showcase ROM hacks at this time. Entirely original fangames however are possible.
    • We'll only consider shelling out for e.g. premium Modula galleres if there's a large interest in those options and displays.
    • If you have a very long submission (e.g. 10+ fic chapters), you can opt to either have it go live only when everything is ready, or after a first part is done, with the rest silently updated afterwards.
    • Interested in helping us port such things to Daily or designing CSS for fancier articles? Consider applying for Daily staff or otherwise PM me!

    How do I sign up?

Please post in this thread. You can also PM/DM myself on the forums and Discord. Please include a link to your content and any further details, and we'll go from there. We'll also set you up with a Daily account so you can make changes as needed.

Thanks to PoryKid575 and Arcaneum for CSS. Some example images from awkwardzombie.com, others from existing Daily articles.

I have a story that's 4 chapters away from completion, is that not allowed to be submitted for this?

As in the OP, preference is for finished fics, and given we just launched this idea I'd rather start off by showing completed fics.

I should also say we have some preference for Pokemon content, given Daily is by and large about Pokemon things. We have had exceptions with non-Pokemon articles, but building up this new feature I think it makes sense for us to stick to the main focus of the site, and in the exception cases they were still about video games.

Do the stories have to be recent? I have a oneshot that might be interested in getting showcased since it was calendar-relevant a few weeks ago, but it *is* from around 2010. Elsewise I wouldn't mind submitting one of my SWC entries.

Hmm, well, one of my stories (I work on three fics at the same time on certain days of the week) is about creature bonding in the style of a video game with dungeon and dragons rolling a d24 like elements. And a common Pokemon Nuzlocke thing called a soul-link. But, instead of Pokemon, it's Sanrio characters... if that doesn't fit with Pokecommunity Daily, that's fine. I just thought I'd ask since it does have similar elements to Pokemon, in some aspects. (Bonding with a creature partner and stuff).

They do not, and one-shots are certainly fine.

I'm afraid that does differ to what PC Daily has. Maybe something we'll consider later, but I suppose that's a detail for me to add to these OPs - Pokemon focused work, given this is for PokeCommunity Daily.

So, finally getting around to this after promising it like, three weeks ago? lol

Not including my monster 55-chapter story since (a) it's only posted in its entirety elsewhere and (b) I added some things to it because of popular trends at the time and not because I wanted to add them, which I'm not exactly proud of.

With that in mind, here are three short chaptered stories I'd rather include, along with a selected collection of one-shots.

    A Coordinated Investigation

When a Contest judge is murdered mid-competition, two friends find themselves reunited unexpectedly - one a seasoned Contest Coordinator who was a witness to the crime, and the other a skilled Special Agent with the League's investigative branch. Together, they must investigate the murder and unravel the conspiracy and motives surrounding it - all while trying to avoid becoming victims themselves.

The Kanto Conspiracy: From the Case Files of Lisa Northwood

Kanto's Champion confronts the one who usurped her position - but instead of getting answers from him, she uncovers one of his many dark secrets. She partners with expert investigator Lisa Northwood to bring the perpetrators to justice. But their powerful adversaries have a wide reach, with street thugs, paramilitary mercenaries, and professional assassins alike working to thwart the pair of intrepid investigators. The two young ladies must outwit, outmaneuver, and overpower each of them to survive - and to shut down a sprawling criminal enterprise once and for all. All of Lisa's driving, firearm, and martial arts skills will be put to the test against these cunning, ruthless foes.

The Kalos Cult: From the Case Files of Lisa Northwood

The latest craze sweeping through the Kalos region is a rapidly-expanding megachurch. But when the church begins hawking a trinket with promises that seem too good to be true, it attracts the attention of the region's newest Champion, Serena, who made it her mission to root out crime in her region. She calls on established Special Agent Lisa Northwood to help her dig deeper into the church and its secrets. Along the way, they'll unearth the skeletons in the church's closet, and Serena will have to confront some adversaries she'd hoped she'd never have to deal with again. She'll have to acquaint herself with Lisa's "guns, gadgets, and cars" style of taking care of business, because the church doesn't play by traditional Pokemon rules, either.

    And now, for the one-shots!

    The Po-Ke Cen-Ter!

They're ready and waiting for you to enjoy. You can get to know a Nurse Joy.

    Final 'Memory'

It's no secret that the 'rivals' in Pokemon X and Y are annoying beyond belief and can cause even the most mild-mannered trainer to lose their cool. But why? Is it just a misguided attempt to make new friends, or do they have some ulterior motive?

An Open Letter to the President of Silph Company.

What exactly is Silph Company's enigmatic Tiksi Branch? What goes on at this isolated division in the middle of Siberia's frozen wasteland? And how are employees selected to be transferred there? This letter, written by an employee who found himself sent there, holds some answers - but creates even more questions.

So You Want to Be a Team Leader

Ever dream of being the boss of your own evil Pokemon team? Learn from the mistakes made by other teams, and gain valuable advice to help keep your team from failing because of some punk kid and their interference.

No worries, I've been busy too.

My suggestion would be one article each for the chaptered stories, and one article for the one-shots together (where one page is used per one-shot in the latter case, and one page per chapter for the chaptered stories).

Is there a particular one you'd like to be ported first?

Oof, I've been busy, and things probably won't get better for a bit.

I'll probably post the one-shots first, and I'll try to write it up little by little when I have time. Probably won't be till early May before I have the whole post ready to be published, though.

Okay. If no changes are planned for the one shots, I can see if during the Easter long weekend I can mess around and make a mock article (or the beginnings of one) with those.

In the meantime please PM me an email address and desired username so you can preview how they look and make changes!
