Alex "Hyena" Sherman

Alex seemed to break out of his trance and removed his index finger from the weapon. He still had it pointed to the creature in front of him. As the General began giving order left and right, Alex wondered what he should do. He looked over the green, red, and white creature in front of him.

"Lance Corporal, subdue the alien in front of me, makes sure it doesn't have any weapons, bind its arms, and blindfold it. I'll provide over watch I will not let it kill you,"

Alex nodded and began to approach the creature, but before he could, it dashed over to the other one fallen on the ground and protected it. Alex looked at the General before walking over to the creature. His heart was pounding, and through his suit, his palms were sweaty. Then, he hesitated. It didn't seem to want to fight, Alex thought. Of course, he could be wrong and this was simply how they initiated their 'weapons', but for some reason, Alex felt it was alright. Alex didn't know why, but he lowered his weapon at the alien, and reached out a hand. He stopped halfway, and hesitated again, before placing his hand on the being's shoulder. He didn't speak a single word, but hoped the alien would understand.

Then, Alex took out bindings and attempted to bind and blindfold the creature, carefully.
 
Daniel Calhoun

A loud boom echoed throughout the landscape with a flash of lightning accompanying it. Danny kept his aim on the being in front of him. His attention was divided into 2 places, the trigger, and his target.

Suddenly one of the aliens dropped like a sack of potatoes. He saw the medic had hit it with her taser.

"Capture it, don't kill it" The General said. Danny lowered his rifle as there was a big bang along with a flash in the corner of his eye. He stayed ducked down, still invisible, but only 17% of his suits battery remained, hopefully he wouldn't have to stay cloaked too much longer so his battery could recharge.

"What the… Gunny find out where that came from!" Gen. Grimm barked at him. Danny stood up and faded into sight.

"Yes sir." He said before running off, weapon ready, in the direction of the disturbance while making sure he didn't get attacked from behind.

OOC: 2 questions... Anyone have a better word to replace faded, doesn't really make sense with that use but i couldn't think of any other words.

Not a question.) Now that I used the sack of potatoes saying, my life is complete.
 
Alice McDowe​

Alice took in deep breaths as she saw the alien fall. The soldiers didn't waste anytime in making sure she was knocked out. "Sergeant McDowe how many… aliens do you think you can incapacitate?" Alice shook her head, "Sir, this tazer is for emergency use only. It'll take a good twenty minutes for it to recharge. I'm no use here now General, I'm going to tend to the wounded."

Alice checked her surroundings before she sprinted off the hill. Her helmet's GPS was already sending her directions to where Sims and Sparks were. She sprinted through the battlefield as fast as she could. Time was also of essence on the battlefield. She finally got to where Sims was and saw another soldier trying to desperately hold off the bleeding from the cuts that Sims had recieved on his left side. She wasted on time in getting her medical bag opened and searching for her disinfectants and needle, "Soldier, is this the only area Sims was hit in?"

The soldier nodded as Alice got out the necessary supplies. She picked up a green bottle and placed it against Sims' injuries and opened it. Disinfecting nanobot surged out and into the soldier's wounds. Sims cried out and jerked on the ground. Alice quickly held his body down as the nanobots performed their duty. "Soldier I need you to keep Sims awake. Get him talking about family, friends, anything that will keep him awake!"

The soldier took her advice and began to talk to Sims, albeit in a shaky voice. The nanobots finished up their work and returned to the can as Alice readied her needle and began to stitch up the wound. Sims cried out and Alice moved her body in front of the wound to prevent the soldier from seeing the damage, "Don't worry Sims. This wound is nothing. You should have seen when a man had his whole foot blown off."

"You're lying McDowe." Sims groaned weakly.

"No. I never lie to my patients. So anyway I had to close the wound and have my squad cover me for a good forty minutes while we waited for evac. He survived just like you will." During her speech Alice's dexteritous hands had closed the wound. "There, we need to evac him now." Reaching into her pack she pulled out a black cube and pressed its button. The cube unfolded and became a stretcher. "Get him on and let's move!" Two soldiers put Sims on the stretcher and Alice moved alongside them.

The soldiers were too busy to ask her why she hadn't gone to Sparks' location. They didn't see the words that her HUD displayed that fueled her with anger.

Sergeant Sparks: Status: Deceased.
 
The Gardevoir swallowed her fear and moved forward while most the humans were helping their medic or watching the other Pokemon. Kneeling down next to the human, who Sanya had attacked, she focused. Just then one of the soldiers noticed her and ran over to her and grabbed her hair and started to pull her away. The Gardevoir winced in pain but was still able to release a healing pulse and once she did the alien let go of her hair as it watched the human's badly torn face rapidly starting to heal. The soldier stepped away and looked up at their leader allowing the Gardevoir to continue healing the wounded human. A minute later the healed alien sat up touching her face with a shocked look on her face.

"What the?" said Grimm lowering his weapon for the first time as he watched one of the creatures heal the wounded Corporal. Just then the medivac Hellion along with a much larger Atlas drop ship that was 4 times the size of the Hellions could be seen landing close to the scar. When the massive ship landed the large rear doors opened and twenty marines rushed out, and behind them two Warhammer defense drones slowly marched out the back of the large craft. They stood 8 and half feet tall, and each of their arms was a massive particle projection rifle. Their heavy metal bodies slowly moved behind the marines, and they ended up stopping not far from the Atlas drop ship. The General watched the twenty marines move up and surrounded the natives.

The General wasn't sure what to do exactly now… one creature just helped them while others were trying to kill them. However most of the ones that attacked from what he had seen were animal looking beasts while this one that healed his troop looked more human. "Ok doesn't look like they are all hostile… treat the ones that have shown no aggression a bit more gentle. Especially the one that healed one of our troops, still get them aboard the Atlas, just try nicely at first," said Grimm over the radio. He was glad to see the situation possibly getting better.

After the Gardevoir finished healing the alien the one that had grabbed her hair before walked up next to her and motioned to the large metal flying device that had just landed. She just stared at the alien not sure what it wanted until it put its hand on her back and gave her a gentle push in the direction of the metal object. The Gardevoir slowly started to move toward the vessel with the alien escorting her from behind. She hoped she had done the right thing…

Meanwhile Sanya had her arms locked behind her with some metal device and she was being dragged toward the large ship while several Marines and one of the Hellions tried to "herd" the Metang without hurting it. It was clear they had no idea what to do with it, and they acted very scared of it. Despite Riley's "booming" entrance his small yellow body easily hid in the tall grass and so far none of the humans had spotted him.

After that several things had happened very quickly. When things got to the point where he could think clearly, he watched Sanya stir after the shock with the odd metal box thing. The others ran over to her, but Magnus stayed in his position in a staring contest with the flying machine. The thing that seemed to be their leader went over and grabbed gardevior by her hair and started to drag her. Suddenly, he stopped as a scar on its face began to heal. For a moment it seemed that gardeviors plan had worked, but after a brief nod of its head, he continued to lead the gardevior towards the ship, although much more gently. However, out of the ship came much larger aliens and many of them, as well as more flying machines.

At least they did not seem to be as violent as they were a minute earlier. Sanya and the lecario were herded after them. Riley had escaped into the tell grass, and Nathaniel was being approached by three aliens. Magnus realized that the first machine as well as several other vehicles (he could now see they were driven by aliens) were circling him obviously unsure how to handle him. He levitaded to the nearest one. When he came to the window, the aliens scrambled beck in their seats before regaining composure. They gestured with their arms towards the main ship. Not wanting to pick a fight with the machines, he obliged and started towards the ship. The vehicles continued to circle him as he wondered: What now?
 
Riley perked from in the grass. Could they not see him? Maybe... Maybe they couldn't, which was odd since he had a great barking guitar on his back.Hmm... he could work that to his advantage. He would have to part with his beloved guitar for a while. But that was okay. He would get it back... Riley knew he'd have to or he'd likely be in so much trouble. He carefully shrugged it off and scampered in the grass, hiding it by a tree.

Glancing around at the aliens, he paused. They were being really weird. Gardevoir had healed one but they hadn't let her go. Hmm... maybe he should try being nice to them, as strange as that sounded. He dropped to all fours and padded out quietly, pawing past the various aliens as they took his friends.Gah... he would yell about that later. This wasn't even worth fighting about he bet. HE let out a squeak of alarm as even that Metang followed them. He must seem very scary.

Riley padded on anxiously. Hmm... they were carrying a human away over there. Maybe there was one there who could make sense. He padded over to one, who he didn't know was a medic, for if he did he would have considered her a Gardevoir in disguise. He touched her leg and stared up, looking wide eyed. So this was an alien! How cool! Yet how weird. Did all aliens wear this big, cold stuff? It was also very saddening. If we had this stuff, I bet there could be more people left in Mirit...

"Hi?" he tried at the alien, staring at her. It came out as a soft squeak.
 
Alice McDowe​

"Ok doesn't look like they are all hostile… treat the ones that have shown no aggression a bit more gentle. Especially the one that healed one of our troops, still get them aboard the Atlas, just try nicely at first," Alice heard over her radio as her group managed to get up to the hill. "Alright get Sims on the medivac. Make sure to hold him down when it gets moving, we don't want him getting bruised up. I'll see you later in med center Sims."

The soldiers went and began loading Sims into the medivac while Alice sought out the General. "Sir, Sims is being loaded onto the medivac, but I do suggest getting him out of here quickly. My stitches are helping him from losing blood but I don't know if there anything out here that could cause an infection. All my nanobots can do is protect from diseases that it's programmed to search for. In this alien world there could be all kinds of stuff flying around that the bots wouldn't search for. Sparks... didn't make it sir. His body is still out there." Alice knew this statement was all the General needed. It was military tradition. Never leave a man behind.

A thought, however, still bothered Alice. She looked and saw the humanoid creature with the dress and the blue jackal being led into the ship. "Sir, are you sure we shouldn't restrain them? I saw what they did to Sims, they are threats not to be taken lightly. You saw how they called out that lightning earlier and you heard from the other squad how they even controlled fire. They-" Alice didn't get to finish as she felt something touch her leg. She looked down and noticed a wide-eyed yellow mouse with a red scarf around its neck looking straight up at her. "S**t!" She cried out as she quickly whipped out her tazer and pointed it at the creature. "Sir, what do I-" She stopped as she looked at the guitar on its back. "...Sir what do I do with this mouse?"

She continued pointing her tazer at the creature, waiting for it to jump up and attack her at a moment's notice.
 
Riley frowned. What was it pointing at him. It looked like it sparked... ookay. Well that was mean. He was a user of electricity after all. What was the point of that? Well this creature couldn't possibly know... it wasn't from here. Riley squeaked again. It seemed stunned. But Riley hadn't even done anything yet. Not that planning to was a smart idea. These things could probably kill him. At best he would be captured anyway, just like the others. Hah, beat that you dumb Gallade. Relying on emotions instead of brains didn't make you any better than anyone else.

He pawed the alien's leg again. "What are you doing?" He looked up at her with the biggest doe eyes he could. He adjusted his instrument with a wince, standing up to stare at her. "You need to stop this fight. Lots of us are dead already." He swept his paws over the landscape. "Can't you see people are scared?" He scratched one of his ears, still watching the alien. He didn't think anybody knew what he was saying but it never hurt to try anything.

Besides, maybe if he delayed long enough, there would be some way to figure out an escape plan. Or something. Because they had lost here. What about everybody in the forests and other villages? They were in a lot more trouble, especially the faraway ones.
 
Alice McDowe​

As Alice continued to point her gun at the mouse the alien began to frown. It reached out and grabbed her leg again causing Alice's grip on the tazer to tighten. The mouse didn't seem to get the memo as it began to speak in that strange language again. His eyes widened again and Alice got the impression that it was trying to look its cutest. She knew better than to trust appearances. As it talked it gestured to the battlefield and Alice looked. She looked upon the corpses and the smoke and the ruined landscape. The sight of death. The alien scratched his ear and was silent.

Alice looked back at the surrounding area and back down at the alien. They had attacked first, they had thrown fire, they had killed Sparks. But at the same time she could see the bodies of their own dead. She looked down at the tazer she held. She was a doctor, a healer, and yet here she was almost ready to cook the mouse with the setting she had it on. Was the mouse telling her to stop?

Alice sighed and slowly lowered her arms and strapped her tazer back on her leg. There was enough pain going around already. "Sir, sorry about. The little thing scared me." She turned back to the mouse. She took in a deep breath and picked it up and held it against her chest. "I'll put this guy with the others." She began walking to the medivac with the alien. Just don't shoot out fire and we'll be fine.
 
Riley squeaked in surprise as he was picked up. Well... this one must have gotten the message. He hoped that. It would be really awful if it hadn't. He squirmed a bit. At least it stopped pointing the sparking thing at him. And was holding him. How strange... then again he was the smallest one here, almost too small to be noticed and likely for their... machines? Yeah that sounded just about right. It was cold though.

Finally he relaxed, in a position where he could look past his own nose and not hit the alien with his instrument. His eyes narrowed sadly. Nobody won this. It didn't take a genius to know that. But there were dead and hurt all over the place and the best healer of their kind was being holed up in some place. His ears twitched and drooped. Riley didn't know what to do but he hoped the others were all right, wherever they were. Maybe this thing holding m knows how they got here. I doubt it can answer me though... I'll just wait. So he sat quietly, helpless and miserable and squeaking out a mournful prayer.

Then a strange thought occurred to him. What does this alien feel about losing its friends? Does it feel like we do? If it did... Riley wondered of the possibilities. And felt a slight dread for them as well.
 
Nathaniel Excifer​

He watched as one of the creatures extended their hands towards him, making him grow alert and tense up. He wanted to act...however, he didn't want to spoil Gardevoir's plan. The hand was placed on his shoulder, Nathaniel not knowing what to make out of the alien. Before he could try anything, he was being blindfolded. He let him. To gain their trust and get inside the ship...he had to behave. If he were attack back, the others might get hurt as well. Luckily, Sanya wasn't awake, or else she wouldn't go down without a fight.

All of a sudden, he heard Gardevoir in trouble, and moved a bit before he realized she managed to prove to them her healing abilities. Watching as she was let go, he glanced back at the alien in front of him and kneeled down, facing the ground. He bit his lip, trying not to resist what ever the alien would be doing. If Gardevoir can do it...then so can he. Magnus was puzzled, or to him it seemed like it. Luckily, he didn't fight back, and simply let them do as the aliens wish, which was a relief to Nathaniel.

Suddenly, he caught glimpse of that mouse, that Pikachu, from earlier. 'Him? I thought he had left to run off with his emotions,' he was surprised to see the mouse. A smile came out. 'Turns out he isn't such a cowardly mouse after all.'
 
Daniel Calhoun

Danny jogged down the hill and to what looked like the edge of town. He looked around for something, though he didn't really know for what he was searching. He looked around a bit more, but didn't find anything. Dan started walking back to everyone else.

"General," He said over the radio "I couldn't find whatever made the lightning. Maybe it was just atmospheric disturbance caused by our ship, or, a thunderstorm coming. Anyways I'm on my way back."

He walked back to the rest of the recon squad on guard, but relaxed at the same time.

It appeared that the creature had submitted, and allowed for Alex to place the bindings on it. Him...or Her, he corrected himself in his mind. He had to consider this creature alive, and with a gender. Unless, of course, these species were genderless. It wasn't impossible, after all. Alex began binding the hands of the creature, and then lastly, applied the blindfold.

"Ok doesn't look like they are all hostile… treat the ones that have shown no aggression a bit more gentle. Especially the one that healed one of our troops, still get them aboard the Atlas, just try nicely at first,"

Alex acknowledged the order by continuing the way he was. Activity occurred between another of the creatures, and the medic Alice, but Alex decided not to get involved. He lead the bound creature to the ship without another word to anyone else.
 
Atlas Heavy Transport

After all the Pokemon and their escorts entered the large drop ship the two warhammer assault drones walked inside and the ship's engines began to roar louder and louder until the large ship took to the air. All the humans were looking at their strange prisoners in a tense silence. Even General Grimm was a little tease despite his best efforts to look relaxed as he leaned back against the wall that separated the cargo hold from the flight deck of the ship.

Medivac Hellion

Meanwhile the wounded and dead humans were quickly loaded into a Hellion with a few hastily thrown in medical machines. "Angel, you what do you think about these creatures? I'm not sure if I agree with taking them prisoner… I mean look at the lieutenant. I think we should just blast them all and make them fear us," said a young medic as he carefully removed the dead lieutenant's dog tags from his charred boots. His tone was emotionless as he talked about killing these creatures. Like most humans he had learned how to compartmentalize his emotions which at times made him seem heartless. Years of war with hostile aliens didn't help his xenophobic views on the situation.

Respite

The large Atlas dropship arrived at the Respite and landed in a cleaned out docking bay. The two warhammer drones and several soldiers forced the Pokemon out of the ship into the quickly thrown together prison that encompassed the entire docking bay. As soon as all the Pokemon were a safe distance away from the large ship's four massive blocky engines they reignited and the dropship left through the massive open docking bay door that began to slowly shut. Several seconds later they closed with a loud clang sound that echoed through the vast cavern. The human soldiers carefully moved toward a smaller door and exited from it leaving the Pokemon in the vast metal cavern. There were several cots set up, a table, and what looked to be a quickly erected "wall" made of grey plastic like material. Behind this wall was a crude bathroom that was clearly thrown together in a few minutes. The pokemon were now alone other than the warhammer drones that stood guard close to the door the humans had exited through.

The vast metal room clearly had a different function as there was evidence lying around. From the roof hung several large cranes that used to move around the fighters that once filled this space. Also there numerous spots on the ground that were covered in grease, fuel, and other foul smelling liquids. In the middle of the bay were several scorch marks from the jet blasts of ships taking off. On one side of the hanger there was an emblem of a blue Lion rearing up on its hind legs with its claws out and mencing look in its eyes. On the other side there was an emblem of a pure black raven standing against the outline of the moon. Under these emblems were many names written in the human's language and under each name was a small passage, a reminder of the fallen pilots who had given their lives to defend the Respite. The doors themselves were painted with a massive 02. Once this docking bay had been home to ten fighters, and would normally be buzzing with activity as mechanics repaired and equipped the angels of death and the sounds of fighters returning and launching from their missions, but now it was silent. The fighters and their pilots were long gone… causalities in the war to survive.

The Gardevoir frowned and said out loud, "Um… I have bad news… they seem to have some sort of energy field around this metal creation. I can't reach my mind outside of it, and that means I will be unable to teleport us out." She then sat down on one of the cots frowning her plan to teleport everyone out wouldn't work. She glanced over at the drones and a chill went down her back. They moved around and seemed to be alive, but they had no feelings… no emotions. What were they she wondered as he looked at one from the place she was sitting.

General Grimm stepped out of the Altas dropship in docking bay 01 looking over his left shoulder he noticed the body of the one causality being rolled out on a gurney. Staring at the lifeless burnt body the General couldn't help but feel sorrow fill his heart. Shaking his head he walked off while forcing his emotions to the side and headed to the bridge to talk to the Captain. He only hoped taking these aliens prisoner would allow Hex to quickly decipher their language and begin to communicate with these natives. He continued to think about possible outcomes of a dialog with these things until he reached the bridge of the Respite. Walking in the busy room he told the marine at the door at ease so the room wouldn't be called to attention. "What's the status of the Respite?" asked Grimm as he walked up behind the Captain who was looking over the shoulder of a petty officer at one of the many stations with a glowing computer screen that controlled the ship.

The Captain turned and saluted Grimm which he quickly returned. She then spoke with a bit of irritation in her voice, "We have the shielding systems now online but the max strength we can get the shields at is 27%. If we want to fire our weapons that will further reduce the power to shields… that is not counting the beam cannon, which we are still repairing. So we have a few shields, and some of what's left of our firepower. So how did the ground mission go?"

"Not as well as I would have liked… these aliens don't seem to have a unified decision on how to deal with us. Some attacked, while others we had a standoff with and we were able a take captive for study. Also not sure which ones are intelligent and which are just animals. I'm hoping we didn't offend the intelligent ones if we stuck them in the "prison" with animals. I'm assuming the humanoid ones are the intelligent race while the others are animals since they look like animals, but that is a personal assumption I do not plan to act on… yet," replied Grimm with a mellow voice.

"Any losses?" asked the Captain as she looked at the screen again.
"One…" replied Grimm with disappointment in his voice.

"If we can't establish a peaceful dialog with these creatures then I suggest we show them the firepower this ship has. There is a small colony of them in range and I'm sure after we level it to the ground with our ship's cannons they will fear us and not cause us any trouble," said the Captain sternly.
"I would prefer not to start another war if we can help it, but your right if our attempts of peace talks fail our next best option is hope we can make them fear us to so they do not dare attack us. However that solution is only going to be temporary, and will later lead to a war," said Grimm taking note that the Captain seemed ready to give a display of power now rather than wait to talk.

The Scar

Jir the Linoone ran as fast as he could toward the gate. He was part of a scout party that had been making their standard rounds in The Scar to monitor any devourers who had strayed too close to The Gate and keep an eye on the mindless monster's movements. However today things were different, the devourers had ambushed their patrol. They were organized, clever, and worse yet seemed stronger and much deadlier than before. Jir had been lucky to escape the initial ambush but his allies were not so lucky. They had been quickly torn to shreds by the creatures. Fear ran through the Pokemon's mind as he thought over what had just happened. 'How did they suddenly become so organized?' he thought as he pushed himself to run faster… refusing to look behind as he made his way to the gate. Weaving around jagged rocks over the harsh sands he hoped this wasteland would not become his grave. He was supposed to be released in two weeks. After 15 long years here as a defender of The Gate for his crime of stealing he was about to be free once again, but now he wondered if he would survive for two more weeks. Running up to the massive wall he yelled at the gate keeper, "Open up I have urgent news for the warden!" the small door fit for one pokemon to enter and exit at a time lifted open and he charged inside the safety of the vast fortress. He didn't stop running as he ran up the stairs to the warden's office.

Alice McDowe​

Alice dumped the little mouse with the rest of the prisoners, "Don't piss anyone off." she muttered as she made her way to the Hellion. Simas was already being worked on by another medic and a quick look over him showed her that even with all the shaking he had endured on the stretcher his stitches still remained intact. What could she say? She was the best. There were a few other soldiers that she turned to. She needed something, anything, to keep her mind off of the body that had been loaded on. The doors closed and they were heading back home. Alice it found it odd. She had always made sure not to regard the Respite as her home. She wanted to call a place where real sunlight would hit her as her home. It seemed that dream would not be happening any time soon.

The wounded had a wide array of injuries. Some only had simple cuts and bruises, others sported trauma, and others had armor burned into their skin or broken bones. She worked as diligently as she could doing whatever she could to alleviate the pain for the soldiers. As she worked morphine into another patient she heard the other medic speak up, "Angel, you what do you think about these creatures? I'm not sure if I agree with taking them prisoner… I mean look at the lieutenant. I think we should just blast them all and make them fear us."

Alice paused momentarily, "I think you should focus on your patients. We don't want any more dead soldiers on our minds so stuff your thoughts into a closet and focus on the task at hand." Alice turned back to her work. In truth she was thinking the same thoughts, but she knew that once you turned your attention away from stitching a wound suddenly you make one mistake and a life would be lost. Neither of them could afford diversions. The pilots had already phoned the docking bay they were heading to and they apparently had a crowd of doctors rushing to the bay. It took only a few minutes for them to land in the bay and as soon as the doors opened the wounded were grabbed and placed on any available stretcher and rushed out of the bay.

Alice grabbed her stuff and followed after the crowd. As soon as she stepped into the med bay it was exactly as she pictured it, pure chaos. Doctors, who for the past few years treated only minor burns and small cuts, were going left and right, diagnosing patients, distributing medicine, and not even bothering to communicate with each other. Alice had a naturally loud voice and so after a few minutes of shouting out orders the flow of the room, while still not perfect, was much smoother. It took an hour to stabilize the patients and send off a few to surgery but in the end it all worked out.

Since her shift had now ended she made sure to leave the med bay in more capable hands and then retired to her room. She stripped off her armor and lied on her bed for a few minutes before she turned on her music player to a high volume and soon enough the music droned out all other noises from her room. Feeling that it was safe enough she grabbed her pillow and began to cry.

He let the beings walk him into the giant craft, which seems to give him a strange vibe. Entering, he could feel himself being lifted with the craft itself, meaning they were now moving. Later, they were put into a metal cavern. It was with Gardevoir's words that he scoffed and gave up, sitting down with his hands loosely hanging over his legs.

"They're going to treat us like we treated them....no doubt," he mumbled, glaring at the floor. Being in this place gave him a strange feeling. He wanted to escape, but like he must, he stayed put. Sanya was barely getting her mind back, the effects wearing off from the hit she got not too long ago. She seems to be silent, sitting in a corner as if she were deep in thought. He watched as the others stood or floated there, glancing at the room. He too stares around, a bit amazed at how these beings put this all together.
 
Riley listened to all of this with cocked ears, the yellow appendages twitching for faraway sound. "This place has echoes," he murmured. "I can't hear them." He snorted. "Not that it matters since I wouldn't know what they're saying." Riley closed his eyes and drew back. He looked at himself, realizing he wasn't bound like the others. "These bars are too small...even for me I think..."

Riley sat there, still listening. He sighed softly. "Territory exists to be conquered... we've gone and done it now..." To the outside world the thought wouldn't make sense. However, Riley didn't think he had to voice the full truth if he was talking to himself. When they themselves had been born to the world, his mother said, they had taken it over and made it their own. Now new creatures, ones that seemed quite smart, were here on what they likely saw as new territory. They would take it and due to things being the way they were with fighting and the destruction of Mirit, Riley was honestly hard-pressed to see a partnership. He curled his paws and twitched his fingers to the guitar. Then he moved away, looking irritated. People wouldn't want that.

"We'll have to wait and see then," Riley commented quietly. "If I tried getting out of here I'd get caught I bet." There was no doubt he would. He had no clue where he would go anyway.
 
Daniel Calhoun

Danny rejoined everyone at the Atlas dropship and piled in. He stood near the cargo bay doors for the whole flight, joining in the awkwardness by remaining quiet.

When the ship finally landed, Dan hurried out into the hangar. He stood there for a minute contemplating what to do next. After a lot of thought, he headed toward his cabin. Danny arrived at his room and striped out of his armor, putting on his normal clothing in place of the nanosuit. He laid on his bed and soon fell into a light sleep out of boredom. He hoped he wasn't supposed to be doing something instead of sleeping.
 
The Respite

It had been two weeks since they captured some of the natives, and Ezekiel had split his attention between watching the prisoners, overlooking the construction of two listening posts, and getting reports from Hellions sent out for long range recon at night. Ezekiel was currently looking over the tactical holodisplay in the middle of the bridge with the Captain standing behind him. He was watching the "activity" at the two forward listening posts outside the native's village. So far the natives had sent one of their kind, which looked like a dinosaur with a giant plant on its back, to the camps every day. The creature would stand there for several minutes to a hour making sounds at the closest camp then go to the second camp and do the same before returning to the village. Other than that the listening posts were rather silent other than the troops stationed there talking to each other. "That thing looks like its late today… usually it begins pestering the troops at the first listening post by now," commented the Captain looking over his shoulder.

Before the General could respond Hex's "form" that consisted of several shapes orbiting a middle sphere that pulsed as the AI "talked" appeared. "General Grimm I have finished deciphering the alien's language, and have begun uploading them remotely to all translation units still in operation. Also I have taken the liberty of sending two additional Warhammer drones to docking bay 2 to escort you inside," said the electronic voice. Before the AI was even done talking Grimm was walking out the door to establish communications with their prisoners.

"Keep an eye on them, captain… I'm sure the NCOs can handle themselves if that creature comes up to them," said Grimm has he ran out of the bridge. He reached the docking bay in no time and took the device that looked like a blue tooth from one the Marine guards on the outside of the makeshift prison. Quickly inspecting his green, brown, and black patterned forest camouflaged uniform and the silver star on each shoulder he closed his eyes as put on the translator device. "Here goes nothing," muttered the General to himself before locking his eyes forward and focusing his mind on the task ahead. "Open the door… and be prepared to rush in if anything goes wrong," ordered the General to the Marines, who replied with a yes sir. Just then the door swung open and the two additional Warhammer drones that stood in front of the General entered the room escorting the general inside.

The only time the door would usually open was when the humans would send in a drone that was carrying food for the Pokemon. The food was filling but very bland to the Pokemon and made their imprisonment that much worse. This time when the door opened two more of the large attack drones (there have always been two inside watching them at all times) came in followed by one of their captors, this was the first time since they had been brought here that one of their captors had entered their prison. The alien looked around at the Pokemon for a second, and they could see that he wasn't carrying one on their larger weapons, but he did have one of the smaller ones strapped to his hip. Suddenly the creature started to talk in his language, and this time a split second later an electronically amplified version of his voice began to speak in their language.

After making sure he had all the native's attention, General Grimm spoke in a calm and confident voice, "I am Brigadier General Ezekiel Grimm of the Galatical Terran Alliance Armed Forces, and commanding officer of all ground forces aboard the Respite. I had you brought here so we could study you and your language so we can communicate with your kind. I would like to start off by extending my deepest apologies for the village that was destroyed when we crashed here. We had very little control over this vessel once we entered your planet's atmosphere and did not realize the location of the village until after our ship had crashed into it. I assure you we are not here to start a war, and I hope we can find a way to peacefully coexist. I'm sure several of you have something you want to say so go ahead and speak… I can understand you now."

Listening Post Alpha

Meanwhile Alex Sherman, Daniel Calhoun, and Alice McDowe were sitting around at the listening post closest to the native's village. The General had assigned them there because of their calm heads during the first contact. Along with the three he had assigned a Private Jenkins, who seemed to make it his life goal to hear Alex talk and to see what his face looked like. So like every other day they were stuck there with Private Jenkins jabbering off to Lance Corporal Sherman about cars that he used to work on and the one he dreamed of having, while waiting for their daily visit from the green dinosaur thing with a plant on its back. Suddenly Jenkin's never ending string of words was cut off by an electronic voice that announced, "All marine forces in the field I am now uploading translator data to your helmet's built in translators. You will now be able to understand and talk with the natives, Hex out." A few seconds later each of them could hear "update complete" sound off in their helmets, just in time for the dinosaur to come lumbering up to their position.

This time they could understand the creature as he began to make noise, "Invaders I am Litir, chief of the village of Tranquility and chief care taker of this forest. I come to you once again to ask you to give us back our friends whom you have taken. If you are unwilling to release them I beg you to tell us of their fate so I can let their families and friends know what has become of them." The creature then paused and waited for a response….
 
Alice McDowe​

She had spent the first night back crying herself to sleep. It wasn't fair that they were in another war. It wasn't fair that they had been driven here only to meet another hostile force. It wasn't fair that soldiers had once again started dying around her. Alice really couldn't believe that they had come upon a planet so similar to Earth and yet be denied its bounty by being forced to stay in their own little area. Sometime during the first week the soldiers had gathered to pay their respects to their fallen comrades and Alice joined with them. As names had been called out she had flinched as every so often a very familiar one was called out. Still that first week had passed like a dream. She couldn't believe... want to believe that they were in another war. She had spent a majority of her time in the medbay looking over the wounded soldiers and making sure the other medics didn't accidentally kill them.

The news had spread quickly throughout the ship about the aliens that had been taken prisoner and once it reached the soldiers there weren't that many happy faces. The most common complaint she heard of was that they would break free and kill as many as they could. Some of the soldiers even joked to her that since she was the chief of medicine all she would have to do was tell the guards that she had to give the aliens several injections to keep them healthy and instead give them needles full of poison. Alice laughed along just to keep the soldiers in a good mood but deep down Alice truly didn't know how to view these aliens. On the one hand they had slaughtered her friends that day, but then again they had crashed into the village.

Alice sighed as her mind came back to the present. As always Sherman was quiet and Jenkins was jabbering off to Calhoun. Alice had little to no knowledge on the subjects Jenkins got into so she just kept her mouth shut and hoped she wouldn't be roped into a pointless conversation. Around this time a green, plant, dinosaur thingie would come and try to talk to them. Alice assumed the dino was saying the usual speel, This is our home. You need to leave now. You have X number of days to leave or we will be forced to attack you again. The poor dino was probably forced to say this message every day just to not feel guilty when the time came that both sides would clash once again.

"All marine forces in the field I am now uploading translator data to your helmet's built in translators. You will now be able to understand and talk with the natives, Hex out." Alice frowned as she heard a ding go off in her head and it seemed just in time too. The dino was back and making their way to them right now. This had better work Hex. Alice thought as the alien began to speak.

"Invaders I am Litir, chief of the village of Tranquility and chief care taker of this forest. I come to you once again to ask you to give us back our friends whom you have taken. If you are unwilling to release them I beg you to tell us of their fate so I can let their families and friends know what has become of them."

Alice blinked in surprise, she could actually understand the alien! She knew that Sherman wasn't a talking person, and she didn't know if Calhoun or Jenkins had any experience with negotiations but she had negotiated once or twice during the war. Most often it failed but maybe this time it would be different. Please let this work both ways Hex, she thought desperately. "Um… Litir, forgive us for not communicating with you earlier. We did not understand your language until now. It is true that we do have your friends as our guests, but unfortunately without the orders of our superiors we will be unable to release them to you. Know that they are in good physical and mental health but until my superior is notified on this new development there will be nothing we can do at the moment."

Alice sighed, "Okay guys. I'm going to radio the General. Maybe he can get a professional negotiator out here or something…" she muttered as she clicked on her radio, "General, that plant alien's name is Litir. He says he's a chief of a village and wants his friends freed. I'm assuming that's a high position on this planet so we're going to need a professional negotiator out here… if we have one."
