Fix a game

Pick a game you didn't like, or one that you thought was a little disappointing. If you could change one thing about it to make it better, what would it be?

In my opinion, almost everything aside from story and dialogues in The Witcher 3 is average or below average. But if I had to pick one thing to change, it would be loot, items and their levels.

There are countless of ? marks on the map, but there is almost no reason to go to them. They are nameless locations without any touch of lore and loot there is worthless most of the time. If you go there early, you get junk items that can be only sold at merchants. When you go there in the mid or end-game, you can get crafting items, that you most likely already have tons of. Sometimes, there are special items, but they are locked behind levels and there are quests that will take you straight to those items, so once again, there is no reason to get them early, since you can't use them.

Speaking of levels on the items, why are there levels on the items? That's just so stupid mechanic. Do you want to tell me that two identical swords are not identical? If there are stronger versions of the same sword, why doesn't everyone have this stronger version? How can anyone even tell the difference?

I would change it to similar systems like in Gothic or Kingdom Come: Deliverance, where exploring actually mattered and could drastically change the difficulty of the game. You could get the best weapon in both games super early and you could even use it, if you have good enough stats, but both games were still challenging and fun to finish.

    In before Sword/Shield fixes.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Design more combat mechanics for party members besides Shulk. Describes everyone else as active auto-attacking. Pushes whatever pops up (barring Break, Topple, and Stun) for them, largely.

    Miitopia
Spoiler: Spoilered due to being re-released

Robs the player of progress three times. Never do this. Essentially plays the beginning of the game four times. Masks the lack of depth.

Cannot imagine pitching the idea to someone. "Kidnap the player's party. Take away the player's levels, gear, and class. Then do it again. And again. Ought to be a super fun mechanic, right?"

Returns that progress at the end of the game. Hardly matters then.

Bravely Default: Signal what you get from a class better. Never knew what might be a good class to combine with [X]. Demands a lot of time to grind up a class. Learned a bit through asterisk battles. Only scratches the surface.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn: Remembers too little of the game to fix story/mechanics. Remembers the graphics being worse than the originals, however. Felt like a jump back to the N64.

I think the graphics are only worse in the aspect of the first two games being high level 2D graphics; whereas DD was just a slightly above average 3D game. The graphics still look pretty good, especially comparing them with, let's say, current gen Pokemon.

But there are definitely things I'd want to fix:
    - Make Himi join the party earlier
You get her just before the endgame starts and apart from giving you a much needed ability, she doesn't really do much. Most of the main plot that involves her is dedicated to getting her into your party (for which she doesn't even do anything) but even afterwards she rarely even contributes in the main story.
Compare that to Sveta who not only gets a considerable size of the main story dedicated to her as her character arc. But she also stays relevant afterwards for pretty much the remainder of the game.
    - Make Mercury adepts relevant
This is more of a general Golden Sun problem. Mercury adepts always feel very underwhelming in those games. This gets even worse when you get the option to reclass the characters. There are so many characters who can do the healing way better while still staying relevent on the offensive.

LET'S TALK ABOUT FFXIV: A REALM REBORN!

The execution of the story is incredibly dull. It doesn't get interesting until the last handful of quests. Before that it is just endlessly walking around an enormous world talking to a bunch of largely uninteresting characters and sometimes there's a dungeon that isn't that interesting either. The game would be much more enjoyable if it was streamlined a lot. Also fuck the cheese quest especially.

I'm told it gets a lot better in Heavensward but I have to slog through the patch quests before I can find out if I agree with that.
