[Completed] Fortune Cup

I'll claim Meloetta then

A Leap of Faith

Sometimes, you just have to take the plunge and hope for the best. That's what chance and luck are all about. Maybe your efforts will earn you something good, maybe they'll let you down. Even helping someone out can be a gamble.

This Fortune Event is simple; you choose to opt in to the event by posting here in this thread. Otherwise, you are assumed not to be participating. Those who opt-in will be added to a list in the order that they joined the event

After you opt in, choose one Pokemon from your roster of available Pokemon. That Pokemon will then be given to the person below you on the list to use. For you, it's gone forever. Even if you RNG it again, it will just be re-rolled away. If you give up something good, you might get rewarded for your generosity with additional coins. However, you risk weakening your chances of winning battles.

How much do you trust the other competitors? How generous are you willing to be? How much of a gamble are you willing to take?

You have 24 hours to decide to opt in or not.

Nothing Like a Classic

When it comes to games of chance, sometimes it's good to go back to your roots. For those of us who have played in the Fortune Cup before, or perhaps other events, we're all familiar with being presented with a bunch of chests or boxes. Here we are yet again.

There are three chests in front of you. One is made of wood, one is made of plastic and one is made of metal. You have 24 hours to choose one of them. Inside each is a different reward. Each participant in the Fortune Cup is allowed to pick a box once.

Results

The results are in!

Third Place: Aquacorde from Aecor with 345 coins
Second Place: 5qwerty from Aecor with 385 coins
First Place: Cubeth from Aecor with 515 coins!

Congratulations guys!

As for the team scores, they look like this:

Caelum: 200
Aecor: 750
Solum: 250

Thank you all for participating this year. I always had a lot of fun when Shawn (Dragon) ran these events over the years and it was just as fun, if not more so, to host my own version.

An Announcement

What? Did you think we were done here?

For those of you who enjoy this unique battle format and who don't want to wait for next year's Get-Together for more, I have good news for you. A longform version of the Fortune Cup with its own prize will be coming soon to the Competitive Battling section. You'll be able to find out more about that, and more about exciting things we have planned on the horizon, soon.

So, keep an eye out for the Fortune Championship in early August. I'll try to get a ping out to everyone who participated in this event.

Some amusing happenings courtesy of the RNG:

- qwerty telling Cube how desperately he wanted Dracovish, then RNGing it.
- Anna RNGing Nidorina and Nidoran Female in succession.
- Antemortem RNGing the three Kanto starter lines in his very first RNG.
- Janna RNGing Pidgey and Pidgeotto in her first RNG.
- Shawn ending up with two Altaria. Shawn is on team Caelum.
