Just a touch of feedback on the whole trial forum thing... I really do like the idea of trial forums and love that it's been opened up for the community to help create the forums they want. However, I think the whole 'post your idea and like the post' thing was a bit stupid to be honest. I think that a poll should have been created with all the ideas able to be voted on. I'm not being detrimental to anyone's ideas but I think the 'liking a post' thing really did leave things open to a popularity contest rather than voting for the best idea.

EG: Klippy posted about the Space forum (which is a good idea to some, I understand) and it got lots of likes, but I genuinely believe that if a member with 100 posts had posted that it would not have got as many votes as it did.

Please note that I'm not trying to be detrimental about Klippy or anyone else, rather I am just offering some feedback for a good idea that I think could be done better. A possible idea would be to PM all ideas to an Admin and then be voted on so no one would know who's ideas are who's. Please don't take this post as throwing my toys out the pram because I don't agree with which forum won, it's just honest feedback.

Next time could be more of a poll suggested by the users, and discussed by themselves. That way, people will feel compelled to actually contribute and suggest how it might possible or what sections has the better odds to be active/interesting.
I actually said that already haha

'I think that a poll should have been created with all the ideas able to be voted on.'

Hstaff has already discussed how to best handle the next nomination and voting stages. We did see some issues with the way this first time around was handled. I think (if I can find the discussion about it) that we might do a poll thread instead of having a nomination post be liked.

Thanks for the feedback! We'll keep it in mind when Forum Frontier makes a return.

    lol dave

Also the fact that the first posts got the most likes; Space and Lifestyle. People who just visit the thread once and vote and then consider their business there over might easily have missed the later suggestions. Next time poll or something, I too think that sounds good.

    edit: hi astyninja

Yeah, we know it was a rough start. We saw immediately that we needed a bit more structure for the next set of nominations. Appreciate the feedback all the same. :)

a poll does not really destroy the whole ''it is about popularity'' if you ask me
the only way not to have that at all i think is your last idea, anom sending in the idea through pm to staff and then an anom poll, so nobody knows who idea is from who

I don't think that popularity is such a big issue on PC that we need to start submitting our ideas anonymously. It's nice for the person who came up with the idea to be able to receive the credit for it, too. Imo just having a poll instead of liking posts (for the reasons given, and also because I don't think people would actually bother to read the whole thread for all of the options) would be enough.

I don't think popularity influenced the decision that much, but I do think we'd be better off doing our prep weeks like so:

Discussion/Nomination Week - we had this as just discussion this time, but putting the two together and then Hstaff can compile all the nominated ideas for a poll.
Voting Week - Aforementioned poll; proceeds for a week like the voting did this time, but certainly more structured by virtue of the poll.

That would also lessen any "popularity influence" by not having the person's name directly next to their idea.
