the heat isnt the best thing tbh. but i dont like it when its too cold either lol.

cold usually doesn't bother me at all. just dress up warmer and done.
the heat on the other hand forces me to bring a boatload of water that I need to get through the day 😂

472.

I used to love the cold and hate the heat... now I'm the other way round!

but, but.... you can't store ketchup in the heat without it going bad =o

Sadly, can't post here anymore during work. So now I have to find a different way to cope. Been thinking of adding some "features" to our source code. But that's gonna be difficult when my boss is obsessively reading basically every line of code that he comes across...

No, I don't have issues! You have them! D:

Your job sounds very ill suited for you D=
Not sure that's the right word actually, but having trouble coming up with an alternative one atm.

If you can bring stuff to work that won't be checked or can be hidden: you could for example try doodling in a sketch or notebook if you like drawing.
I always did this in school when I was bored =p
Basically just bringing something small that can be pulled out at any time and be put away at any time, might make it more bearable.
Wouldn't recommend bringing a handheld and going gaming though =p

First of all: adding "features" isn't going to happen obviously. Even silly little things that don't do anything can at beast cause a lot of trouble for me and at worst might even end in a lawsuit for all I know. It's just the nature of the economy where people really want to protect what's theirs. Fun fact: as a mere developer you don't actually own the source code you produce. It belongs to the company you work for.

The problem with ill suited is that in contrast to that I actually don't know what even suits me. Been asking that question for decades...tbh. I still wonder if I'm the problem here. Is it because I don't fit into the system they work under? They are really nice people and all, but the entire work ethic is based off of logic. This obviously makes sense for software development (and makes me question if I'm just not a logic person). But even the way how people interact is very logic driven, my boss being pretty much the prime example of that.
Now, the scary thing about that is that this might even be normal in the economy, so even if I were to change jobs chances are, things would be the same, probably even worse.
The answer of me being the problem is kinda obvious as it seems to me. ^^"

Doing something else is also fairly hard considering that my office is the one my boss likes to enter quite frequently. I'm the only dev who actually has to share the room with another one. And that one really likes doing his own things which my boss hates and which usually results in them discussing for hours.
Also, me being very quiet, my boss also really loves checking what I'm doing; especially if I haven't delivered for a day or two. ^^"

Don't recall mentioning adding anything to source code, but ok. Wouldn't recommend tempering with work you produce for a company no.
Edit: nvm that was in the post I quoted lol.

Figuring out what suits you/what you actually wanna do is something a lot of people probably struggle with. A lot of people have a job just to be able to pay the bills rather than doing it because they like that job too.
I've never really had any dreams or aspirations. Not even ridiculous childhood ones like 'I wanna be a cowboy or astronaut'. After a couple tries I found a job I actually liked doing. Is this something I've always wanted to do? Nope, never even expected I'd like doing this. The pay is rubbish (scraping by really), but I go to work happy everyday and the hours usually fly by. (Though I can be cranky afterward if it was a long hard day and I can feel my back in pain xD)

On a side note; it's probably a bad idea to do any job switching at all atm. Covid measures killed off a lot of businesses here.

Sounds like your 'roommate' is a hinder for any kind of personal relaxation/escapism yea. Do you get along with that person at least?
Not really sure what else to add. I feel like there's something I want to add, but I can't seem to get my thoughts straight.

I do hope you can find something to make things more bearable though =)

Yeah, I just felt the need to mention that I don't wanna do something stupid, of course.

My main "find a job" issue is that I always went along with what others said. Back then I did it because I wanted people to stop pestering me about it. Nowadays they believe I do them because I want to do them. xD
We'll see how life goes, I guess...

He's old and very much set in his way. When he sees a problem, he reacts first and tries to solve it and then my boss tells him that this was completely unnecessary. They then spend a couple hours reversing a lot of stuff he did. xD
I guess he's fine. He isn't really doing anything to me. He's just there.

This is me on so many levels. I feel like, for the longest time, I only ever did things because of peer pressure (mainly from family). Work included, even though my anxiety made working really difficult for me for the longest while. It took me a while to be more confident in making choices for myself. x_X

Finding yourself is hard for some. I have been trying for 30+ years so I know what I'm saying. xD

Another appointment by a psychologist today. Told me that they couldn't help until the other psychologist figured out what's wrong with me. So, same thing as per usual. Well, I'll probably get stuff against depression but the next time I see them is in like ten weeks. (one of them is responsible for the figuring out part and the other for the "what to do now").

Welp...

So basically a plant. That gets talked to by the boss. Could be worse =p

Peer pressure is the worst, just bee yourself ladies 🐝

This, but it's not so easily done for everyone.
Idk what else to say here, since I've never given in to it. I was always 'the quiet kid' who minded his own business.
Never had any real friends either.

Holy heck that just sounds lazy to me lol
Doesn't really sound like any of them actually want to help you either, the way things are being split up =(
Could also just be because of rules, bureaucracy can be so flippin annoying.

Where they assigned to you or did you pick your psychologist yourself? Because if it's the latter I'd personally just go find another =p

Bit late to this conversation, but I agree with what everyone else says. Yes, it is a lot easier said than done, but you need to be true to yourself, not other's expectations.

I have learned this the (very) hard way, and I'm still struggling against it now, but life is too short to spend it trying to be what everyone else wants.

Also... HELLO!!!

So Tuesday is next right? Only 4 more workdays to go then =D you and your 8 day workweeks 😉
