Welcome home, Doctor! :D

Sometimes I include titles, kind of as a brief description for people who aren't able to read the full post. Most of the time though I just think of a funny phrase that I couldn't worm into the actual post :<.

With the amount of NPCs Skymin and I write as, it's good to state whom exactly we are writing as. Also date and location are there as visual aides for the reader so they have a general idea of where and when the post is taking place.

EDIT: What's up with the triple modship? We can't be that unruly that we need three mods looking after us XD

Yeah I've picked that habit up from you, I believe, haha. I prefer to state the name of the main character of the post on top, and perhaps a chapter number to clarify where and when I am atm.

And, um, don't worry about that <.< we're just trying to make a very vivid RP summer :3 no harm, right?

Well, definitely superpowers 8D RPs where you get to be a little supernatural and do some magic. Atlantis, GH and now Fragmented all tickle my tastebuds. Unfortunately I don't think I can join more RPs for now ;; I wish you good luck with Fragmented though, it looks spectacular.
 
That feeling when you've spend ridiculous amounts of time writing an SU for yet another RP that doesn't even get off the ground.

And on the RP idea note. How about a Metro role play? That has an interesting universe, and you could have some interesting RP mechanics! I'd do it but I don't think I've got what it takes to be a GM.

Thus why I don't ever spend more than an hour and a half at most on any of my sign-ups LMFAO

I spend waaay too long on SUs. More thinking than actually writing, and picking at it trying to refine it :(.
 
I sometimes spend way too little time on SUs and end up with sort of incomplete characters :p Aberdeen in Crossroads now is such an example! The RP became more dramatic (and better) than I had expected and now I'm stuck with a character who doesn't get angry or offended and that's annoying me xD But I can't change who he is much at this point because he's alive in my head now.

so if I do something weird, blame Aberdeen in my head
 
But I think that's all apart of developing the character in the RP you know? Like at first maybe they don't get angry or offended, but as their circumstances change that good naturedness might go away...

It does depend on what actually happens though, of course.

I agree with Loki, as circumstances change characters should develop in order to fit those circumstances. So it makes sense that a very reserved and level headed character may grow to become more outgoing or to be so fed-up with a situation or person that they can't keep quiet any more.

My character in yokai academy has certainly changed a lot from his original SU. He went from despising almost everyone to being all about protecting people.

Which brings me to officially pose this as a question
What are some interesting or surprising ways in which some of your characters have developed?
 
Of course characters change with the events of the story. But not completely, at least not if you have a way of seeing them in your mind already. I don't really decide what my characters do in RPs (well obv I do, I'm not crazy), rather I just write what they are most likely to do in a situation.

My character James Hazen in Atlantis went from a relatively laid back guy who disliked the norm to legitimately crazy. The only real changed that occurred is that he was given power. I think it might be a representation of how much altered or different someone might be when put into such a position where your deepest desires can be enacted without having to face any sort of moral or societal repercussions.

I think changes like these are more often possible with characters introduced into a climate or scenario drastically different than the life they lived before. I don't think it applies to that situation every time though.
 
Hello everyone. I'm new around these parts and I won't derail the discussion as to create a bad first impression. I just wanted to say that there are some truly phenomenal writers around here and I was pleasantly surprised to see such a vivid writing community within PC. The RP corner is the primary reason I decided to create an account. I hope to RP with you all soon.

I'll be on the look out for a RP to jump into shortly. Hopefully one will catch my eye. :)

I don't believe I've ever had really surprising developments with any of my characters. I will say that as time goes on, I like to treat them like living people and see them mature and develop distinct quirks and idiosyncrasies.

If I were to mimic the comments of SV before me. There is a case, in particular that I wrote, of a brother who caused the death of his sister in a car accident. Where his character was once a stable and level headed individual, he quickly lost his way and degenerated from there. His final state bringing him into borderline madness.
 
First and foremost, welcome to the RPC, Beacon! Now, if only I had something witty to say, uh... lighthouses are... good? YAAY. I speak words.

Anyhow, question time has caught my interest.

A lot of my characters haven't yet gone through particularly strong development, though I'm certainly sure some of them will at some point. My longest running character, so far, isn't going to be up to it, though. I don't think so, anyway. Turnip, by his very nature, is somewhat crippled in his ability to develop in any way as a sapient entity. And I wouldn't have it any other bloody way :P he can look character development straight in the eye, tell it to piss off and give it a good old kick in the face. Personally, I can't help but think that a character refusing, even fighting against their own character development is kind of interesting in itself. Hell, he might even trip up development for a few others, if he feels like it.
 
No opinion on a Metro based RP then? I thought it'd be fun!

As to the question, I think I've only been in one rp that lasted long enough (and finished) to further develop a character, and that was War between Pokemon and Humans with mah character Mark Vargas.

I'm not sure though if it was the character changing, or just me learning to better write (as that was the first RP I've ever been in/read/known existed). I guess he grew a bit more noble and angry at the same time. Was a long time ago.

Wish there were RPs with guns again. It's what I'm best at.
