I haven't been playing X and Y for a couple of months now, but after looking around Smogon for a while I decided to pick up the game again and do some breeding/horde ev training. At one point during my training I headed back to the Pokemon Center and as I was talking to the Nurse I was surprised by her talking about my Golden Trainer Card (which at this point I didn't even know I had xD).

There are basically three points that influence the color:
    - beating the E4+champ
    - getting the Kalos Dex complete
    - getting a 50 battle winning streak in the Battle Maison

Now, which color does your Trainer Card have; did you bother getting the gold one?

I do have the Gold trainer card, I met all three of those requirements. However, it is disappointing that it only has three requirements to obtain, while past ones had a lot more work for you to put in. I first saw the same thing (the nurse noticing my gold trainer card) in White 2, so this wasn't new to me here.

Funny thing is that I also obtained the Gold Card a while back and didn't even know it until I went to heal my Pokemon. I was surprised to learn that Gold is the max level and that it's not so hard to get your card to the max level. I kinda wonder why they did that in X/Y.

Like above, I didn't know about this, either. Personally, I don't exactly worry about things like this; they're only trainer cards, and I just rarely look at them. One requirement of getting yourself gold is to complete Kalos PokéDex, which I haven't done yet. Would start doing it, but unfortunately, I don't seem to have any motivation. Well, at least for now.

I have defeated the Elite 4 and Champion, and currently on my way to completing the Kalos Pokedex... Not sure if I'm going to get a 50 battle winning streak in the Battle Maison though, although I might try.

What is a Golden Trainer Card, and what can you do with it?

I think mine's blue at the moment or maybe silver, I dunno if I've completed the Kalos 'dex yet (although you'd think I would have with all the GTS trades I've done lol) xD It's something I tend to forget about but now that it's on my mind, I'm definitely going to go for gold :) I like that this generation it's challenging but not completely out of reach, which is how I've felt about previous trainer cards haha :)

This is news to me. I didn't know there was a gold member card. Very cool.

I would have thought being a Grand Duke/Duchess in the Battle Chateau would be related to it, but what do I know?

I, too, was really surprised when I got my gold card. I had been using the PC for healing my pokemon for several hundreds of hours of playing, if at all.

There's actually a huge benefit of the gold card: whenever you talk to Nurse Joy, you get a new "you want the usual?" message that means you need to mash the 'A' button one less time! ;)

My Trainer Cards in both versions are black. I haven't bothered completing the Kalos Dex yet; I still have a long way to go.
