thanks. And this is partially why I mute my opponent in every chess game. My least favorite thing is being told "hurry up". When I hurry up, I mess up. Besides, the timer will make me lose anyways if I take too long. It's even a rule in most actual chess tournaments not to speak during the match.

Squritlenator?

If you're playing to a clock, it's your business how you use your time anyway Zeo. That's part of the game! :)

Nator maybe?

yup

Ash next?

Reminds me of something I'd do when I played the Pokemon TCG more seriously years ago. I had a friend I'd always practice and test decks with, and we'd talk pretty often every night we played together. But when we were playing actual test matches we were dead silent unless we (usually me) had to ask "is this the right play" or something. It was really neat to me to have a good friend who I could just be completely silent with and sometimes a simple tap of a card could tell him exactly what I was doing without saying anything.

Hmmm... Nator?

I actually didn't show up! There was some confusion over my schedule and it turns out I was supposed to show up today, and I wasn't aware. A proper schedule hadn't been made until earlier today, and I only heard mention that I might have to work Wednesday. Since I didn't hear anything by the time my shift was supposed to start, I just thought I was off and they didn't need me in. Misunderstanding's been cleared up and thank god I've got a proper schedule and have the people I need to contact if necessary.
Besides that, I took the day off to head out with my parents and it was a pretty nice morning/afternoon out. I finally got around to upgrading my train card to an adult card instead of a kids one and... it's pretty small, but it's kinda neat knowing I have it now because I'm the proper age for it. Being out of "teenager" age fills me with mixed feelings, haha.

How you doing, Nator?

I'm okay. I'm glad that that misunderstanding was cleared up and that it didn't cost you the job. That would have sucked. Is the schedule favorable/manageable? When's your next shift?

That's great that you were able to spend the day with your parents. Never take that time for granted.

Setsuna's a big girl now 😉🤣 Growing up. Your on to the next step in life.

Setsuna?

The schedule's pretty manageable. I have 2 shifts a week, Sunday and Monday cause I was just hired for part-time so I'll ease myself into it (because of how exhausted I felt before) and just request more if I feel like I want them. I'm told weekdays are way faster than weekends so having a few days off after Monday sounds like a great way to get myself some relaxation time and destress if it hits me too hard. I'll settle in okay now that I kinda... know the basics and when I need to be there.

Definitely, I'm really thankful for all the time I get to spend with them, and I really enjoy the days where I just get to have a day out with them or if we travel together.

Growing up is ridiculous. Half of me is thinking people my age are having jobs, in college and moving out of their parent's places to live on their own, and the other half feels like I'm still 14 and don't know how to do anything. I constantly feel like I'm both being treated like a child who isn't trusted to do anything, and an adult who's supposed to know how to do everything. It's this weird limbo I'm stuck in and it's anything but comfortable.

Nator?

That's sounds reasonable. You can do that, request more shifts if you want them? That's nice to have. That gives you a lot of flexibility which is always a plus. You'll get there, you're a bright woman. it just takes time. So go easy on yourself. Don't expect yourself to know how to do everything. It's new, It will take some time but, before you know it you'll be doing everything as if it were second nature. I'm glad that everything is worked out and straight forward for you now. It definitely helps having structure and routine.

That's great to hear you say that.

That's what growing up is like but, I'm confident that you'll figure it out. Your a smart woman.

Setsuna?

Well, it seems like I can do that anyways. It seems like they're pretty flexible and judging by the fact there wasn't a schedule until today, I've got confidence.
I'm alright with taking things slow and learning something new. I'm just a little worried everyone around me won't, and I'll be having difficulty keeping up. I can kinda already feel a papercut on my hands just thinking about it, god...
The one co-worker I've been talking to more often has been super kind and understanding. In my first hour or two in my shift I had to ask where things were about 5 times, but even now he told me today to ask him if I needed more info or if I was confused, and said not to get too frustrated over it. It was nice and definitely at least somewhat helped a lot of the feelings I've had about the shifts.
Having that structure is really big for me. I want to know what I need to do and when I need to do it ahead of time, I think being bound by a schedule helps me a lot to stay in it.

In terms of growing up... I think I just have to come to terms with the things I don't know and accept that it's fine to just pick up that knowledge along the way and learn it as I go on. It's not like I'll flip a switch when I hit a certain age and suddenly I know how to do my taxes or whatever.

Nator?

Honestly, I still consider myself a bad player, but I'm climbing quickly because I can see obvious mistakes. Like half of my opponents aren't positioning the queen safely, most of the time they let me freeze them in check, giving me a free queen. It happens over and over.
noice stat climb my guy. pretty much everyone's still learning this game and i don't think that'll ever stop heh. it's good to see you learning from your mistakes, and now i'm scared that you'll easily beat me with theory when we eventually have a go.
Bobby Fischer was an absolute #@$% but he is easily my chess hero!
oh my goodness, i didn't think he was that bad until i listened to an interview where he stated his opinion on women. wow men back then were savages...
I'm defensive. I learned to "overprotect" from a few videos, so I usually don't like making plays that break my structure. But when I get up in material, I like forcing trades. Because I've noticed even 1+ pawn ahead usually lets me overtake in end game.

I've watched interviews with Fischer. At my level, I do try to stay simplistic. (Meaning I only watch videos on fundamentals). But I might branch out a bit. I tried Gotham Chess, but even found he was getting a bit too complex for where I'm focusing.
oh you know how to play endgames well Zeo? that's a really good edge when things start getting really simplified and all. it's super easy to fall into traps in that time for me.

also, i try to be on the offense as much as i can because i value dominating the positioning more than defending myself. i'm the one who tends to break open positions instead of set them up heh.

anyway, Setsuna still around?

Sexist, antisemitic, racist, homophobic, and an utter freak of nature behind a chess board.

R2K's second album?

Just me!

Though apparently Squirtlenator sees everything so maybe he'll be next!
