The foreign mystic who had journeyed so far to take place in the festivities held this night smiled to each in attendance as he passed. He told jokes and gave trinkets and charms as gifts as his own. The man seemed full of joy, and from his eyes each other person there also seemed as joyous as he. However, the darkness hidden beneath plotted and readied to make their moves. When the moon began its descent marking the final hours of night, Vereryl rose from the shadows which he had hid from after picking up the headdress and his new partner. The mystic watched wide-eyed as the man rushed up behind The Soothesayer. A knife ripped through Kaneki's chest as he was on his way to greet the man whose powers he had won with the auction. Kaneki clenched his barren chest, desperately trying to stop the bleeding but without having the mind to figure it out. The soothesayer dropped to his knees in front of his prize, and the mystic followed suit in dropping to his knees to catch the near-lifeless body of his master for the night. Kaneki reached out his hand to the man holding his head and then fell unconscious.
A few minutes passed as a cold wind swept across the party grounds. Vereryl chuckled ominously and then retreated into the darkness. Once the demon had left, the mystic placed both of his hands over the wound in Kaneki's chest and brought him back to life, barely expending any energy. Unfortunately the soothesayer had used up his one revival, however the mystic agreed to help in another way. Rising to his feet, the mystic went in the direction that the demon Vereryl had disappeared to.
The demon and mystic were now face to face, their hands clasped together as an agreement was formed. Ullion had killed the mystic's previous buyer, and as such the next highest bid belonged to he and his new ally. Unbeknownst to the demon, the debt had already been paid and the revival taken place for his previous contract. The mystic led the demon to a secluded cave on the southern tip of Jeimas where he said the revival of a fallen ally was to take place. Due to the dark nature of the demon however, it would be easier on the mystic's body to open a door through Ullion's power in order to bring out those with a similar aura.
Jumping at the thought of bringing back not only one, but multiple allies at once excited the demon and he agreed all too happily. The demon carved a table out of the stone around him in mere seconds, set it on the ground and then laid himself atop it. The mystic pulled a knife from his pocket and began to speak utter nonsense as he lifted the blade into the air, readying to slam it through the demon's chest and kill him.
But the new ally had known better than to trust the man. Golgari shoved his hand through the mystic's chest, ripping out his heart in the process. In a fit of rage, Ullion tore the arms from his new ally's body. The demon screamed at him in several different tongues as Golgari fell limp against the cave walls. Ullion lifted the mystic into the air and stuck his hand into the man's open chest, hoping to breath life back into by creating a new heart out of solid darkness. However before he could accomplish these things, the betrayer and his allies rushed into the room.
Nimsy the pure and silver tongued executioner; Kaneki the soothesayer thought to be dead by the demon's own hand; Nakuzami the wandering huntsman, finding a permanent alignment by the betrayer's side; Collector Elwood, a child savage who studied the shaman from the shadows until the moment of his death; and Absol who was only talked into joining their ranks during that very night all fell in behind jdthebud. The betrayer looked over to Golgari who had once been a follower of his own, but now lay dying after his own betrayal. The group of men and women circled around Vereryl and the stone table, knowing full well that to succeed in killing this monster would mean that most of them would die in the process.
Ullion smiled slightly and let out a sigh. He shrugged his shoulders and lifted his hands into the air before sitting back down on the stone table. He realized only a little too late that coming here had always been part of their plan to take him out. Hell, even if he hadn't attempted to kill the soothesayer the result would have likely been the same. If he had managed to win all three items though he wondered, how would things have turned out? Those actions had passed however, and he had given up. Resistance was pointless now. He was outnumbered and had just brought his only other ally to the brink of death only moments before.
The demon laid himself out on the stone table and began to laugh violently as the circle closed around him. Nimsy pulled out her divine blade and swiftly slammed it into the demon's chest, causing his laughter to falter but only for a moment. Blood began to run from the corners of the man's mouth as his laughter continued. Strands of darkness crept up the sides of the pure white blade as hundreds of screams filled and reverberated throughout the tiny cave. Golgari still in his slouched position began to mutter the names of all their fallen brothers and sisters. All those who had been killed during the reign and hunt of Vereryl. The blade in the demon's chest turned a pitch black and then his laughter stopped.
With his final breath, the demon cast a spell. An inscription appeared on the stone which used symbols that these natives had never seen before. The betrayer however, still being partially linked with the demon could roughly make it out.
"I have given you peace through my death, but it shall not be forever. For so long as I shall be sealed away from this world you shall make a sacrifice, forever remembering the power which I hold over you all. From now until the end of time, every year one person from a bloodline descending from one of those in attendace shall be forced onto this table and ran through with the blade in my chest as a sacrifice. Their blood should be drained into the hole within my chest, and their screams should fill the room and drown out the echoes of my eternal laughter. So long as you continue this sin, I shall keep my own at bay. But should you ever forget..."
That was it. The inscription stopped before it ever had finished as the life left the eyes of the demon and his body turned to stone, fusing together with the statue. It was over. The demon had been slain and all was back as it should be. Putting aside the ominous inscription, the betrayers began to rejoice knowing that peace would return once more to Jeimas. However Golgari still lived, making his escape while the others were distracted.
Nimsy followed the man out into the desert until the sun had risen. Nakuzami had given her a knife that night, knowing that even if he was a former ally he had to be put down due to his connection with the demon. Eventually Golgari fell in the harsh heat and intense sand. The man looked up to the sky and yelled as loud as he could. Nimsy put her hand on the man's shoulder and squeezed lightly. Golgari lowered his head knowingly and waited for the deed to be done. However, as the pure one went to put her blade into the man's back a voice rang through her head. It seemed it was not yet his time. Nimsy placed her foot on the man's back and kicked him over before spitting on him and leaving him to whatever destiny he had yet to fulfill.
