Have you ever been a specific type of trainer?

Like have you ever used a team where all pokemon had a common type or something else in common?

Once I used a team of exclusively Ice-types, through careful breeding and TM's I managed to have (almost) all attack types represented including Dragon (bread Lapras to learn Dragon Pulse) but I couldn't get an Ice-type that knew a fire move.

I'm currently contemplating using a party of only Eevee evolutions.

I've made several Poison/Ghost/Dark tri-type teams due to the fact that they're my favorite three types. :P

When I start a new challenge and select my team (if I'm allowed to anyway), I usually end up going with some sort of trainer theme after I've picked them out. When I update, I used whatever trainer class I fit as my title and post a sprite in my update. For example, if my team ends up really varied and balanced, I use a Cool/Ace Trainer. In my Fairy monotype in Y, I'm using ummm not a Furisode Girl (cause I used one for another playthrough) but like a countess or something idk. I did the Gym Leader challenge as Jasmine and used her sprite for my updates as well, haha.

Dragons! I use Dragon-type or Dragon-like Pokemon in my teams all the time. :3 There was one team I made where every Pokemon had a Dragon-type move too, which included Pidgeot knowing Twister. I love Dragons a lot! <3

I've done a lot of mono-type runs. I did a team full of Grass types in Kanto, and then Water types in Hoenn. I don't really go by a trainer, but you could attribute the Grass monotype run to being, say, an Aroma Lady, and the Water type run to being a Swimmer. Usually, in regular runs, I think of my character as an Ace Trainer, packed with powerful and balanced Pokemon.

I've never been much of a specific kind of trainer, uh...

But when I was young and playing Yellow, I decided to catch an entire team of Growlithe to train, having been inspired by that one episode of the anime with the police and Growlithe. Other than that I think the only other thing I've ever done was have everyone be specific natures that were appropriate to their species. Haven't done it since, as I love my Pokemon having random natures that instead end up showing their personality to me. uvu

However, I'll probably do a monotype challenge sometime just to see how it is. Specifically, Psychic or Fire types.

lol yes I love doing mono-type runs!! I think it's so much fun, can sometimes make the game a little more challenging, and really helps you learn that types advantages/weaknesses. It helps out a lot when you decide later to make a varied team.

I remember when I was younger I tried making a combined dragon team of Lance and Clair so not all types were actually dragon but yeah lol. I also once made an all fire team back then because I LOVED fire types. Other type runs I've done are water, bug, rock, and flying (bird themed). Rock was by far the most fun and came out the best. I also love green/blue/leaf (I usually refer to her as blue) from the manga so once I made a team with nearly all her Pokemon. Had to make a few adjustments because I didn't like how many normal types she had. I've also done an all female team that had Pokemon that were clearly feminine or you can only get as female.

You mean, have we ever had a mono-type team? I did try one out once while competitive battling, which consisted of Ninetales, Charizard, Heatran, Chandelure, Arcanine, and Rapidash, and it worked quite well for me. Ninetales was the lead and would set up sunlight for other team members, and take out one's of the opponent's Pokémon or two. If it were lucky enough, sometimes, it would take down three. Heatran was the wall, and its job was to endure hits and stall foe for as long as it possibly can. As for the rest, they were all sweepers. :] Aside from that, I don't believe I've tried anything else.

I'm doing the NPC Trainer Challenge on Light Platinum right now. I chose Bug Catcher since there are a lot of good Bug-types in that game. Also I get to use my favorite dragon since it's in the Bug egg group. :]

I used to hang around with a small group of friends before and we made our own little "Elite 4" for the FireRed/LeafGreen games.

I ended up choosing Fire types, and my team consisted of Charizard, Ninetales, Arcanine, Magmar, Moltres and Rapidash.
How foolish I was back in those days :P

Haven't tried any specific teams for a normal run, but I've definitely tried monotype challenges before, such as a Normal Mono and Steel Mono. However, I haven't finished any XD I did, however, use an entire team of Eeveelutions in White--all seven, in fact--and managed to beat the game with them. I also love using Monotype teams in competitive battle, though lately I've been trying to avoid doing that.

Due to my heavy bias towards fire-types, in my early days of playing Silver I ended up favouring a team with Ninetales, Typhlosion, Houndoom, Rapidash, Magmar and I can't remember who else haha but that all changed once I started developing new favourites lol :)

Yes, It's something I'm actually doing, I have 3 teams going and one that I have not yet started. I enjoy doing these type of "Specific Type" only it forces me to think of a strategy especially with the type disadvantage.

2 with Normal types - one is my Early Normal Type team (with Raticate, Furret, Linoone, Bibarel (part water), Watchog, & Diggersby), and the other one is similar, but I wanted it to not have a second type (with Raticate, Furret, shiny Cinccino, Watchog, Kangaskhan, & Exploud)

1 that I'm playing with Water Type being the main first type, but also some have a secondary type (team consists of Slowking, Sharpedo, Palipitoad, Qwilfish, Samurott, Blastoise)

the last one I have not yet started but plan on doing is a Fighting Type team

I'm typically a trainer oriented towards mammalian Pokemon, if that counts. Especially canines. I once created a team that was exclusively caninesque Pokemon, and it actually made for a bit of a challenge because there were many moves that were unavailable to me on such a team. (There aren't any, say, Rock or Ground-type canine Pokemon and not many of these types of Pokemon learn these moves other than Lucario and Granbull off the top of my head) It also made the Flying-type and levitation unavailable, and as I usually have at least one flyer on my team, meant I was vulnerable to Ground.

Other than that, no. I don't like monotyping because I enjoy variety and relish the new. After a while, I get bored of following a set pattern and sometimes pick things I'd never be expected to use.
