Black and White Weekly Poll #3: Haxorus vs Hydreigon

This time we've got the axe dragon verse the dark dragon Drakow is obsessed with! 

Some quick stats about the two:
- Both have three-stage evolutionary line
- Both are OU Pokemon
- Hydreigon has the higher base stat total
- Both are technically event Pokemon, with the movie Hydreigon event, and anime egg event, in which Axew can evolve into Haxorus

Hydreigon rules!

Awesome typing, diverse movepool, three heads, fearsome look, pseudo-legendary, Levitate ability = One cool tough Pokemon!

It may take massive training but when mine evolved, it was worth the wait!

And I use one on my Black team - female, Lv72, Docile nature, Moves are: Crunch, Flamethrower, Dragon Pulse and Flash Cannon.

She can even rip through entire teams in the Battle Subway against opponents who are not prepared.

This was a tough choice, but in the end, I went with Hydreigon because of its good stats, incredibly cool design and one of the widest non-legendary movepools in history. Of course, Haxorus comes close because of its sheer power.

I had a lot of trouble with this. I use Hydreigon competitively, my boyfriend uses Haxorus competitively.

Pros for Hydreigon
I love Special Sweepers and he is one
Type combination is epic
I really love the names and their inspiration

Pros for Haxorus
Can take advantage of Outrage
Shiny sprite is amazing
Axe as fangs is also amazing

With all this in mind, gotta go with Hydreigon. It's just closer to my heart than Haxorus. Plus the name definitely doesn't do it for me, I spent quite a bit of time making fun of that before I learned about the Pokemon itself.

I never tried Haxorus before. But, setting aside biases, I am honest with this answer of mine. I'll choose Hydreigon because as the Pokemon evolves, its speed increase and its Ability also changes to Levitate which is an advantage to Ground Pokemons. Stats are getting higher and higher as the Pokemon evolves. So, yeah, I go for Hydreigon. :)

I'm going to have to go with Hydreigon for this one. I prefer a special attacker to a physical one for some reason. :P

I tried using Haxorus for battling, but it didn't fit well with me.

I don't know, but I love Haxorus. Haxorus is just more hug-friendly, and is pretty reliable when it comes to Mold Breaker - the opponent's ability might as well as not count when it comes to defending against attacks. And he's a nice guy, too! Bonus points for Axew, too. I also like the fact that there's only two weaknesses.

It might also have something to do with the random TV show and Haxorus backflipping.

Haxorus will be forever my favorite dragon. For me, Hydreigon is just too meh. Yes, it is really a good Pokemon, but a Special Dragon for me is just.... Nah. I'm too biased here since Haxorus had helped me a lot in the E4.

OH HELL YEAH! IT'S FIVE-HEADED DRAGON!!!

You know, I was playing some Yugioh with my broski yesterday and one particular duel, he explodes first with all of his X-Saber shenanigans. He uses Solemn Warning on my Tragoedia so I take the full onslaught of his monsters. He ends the turn with one back row card and a field of;

To my empty field. So I cannot play any Spells or cards which would destroy other cards. Which generally is the YGO version of him bending me over and anally raping me. But this time I am not too concerned because I have Dark Armed Dragon in hand with three Darks in the graveyard. Also since he has already used a Solemn Warning, odds are in my favour that his back row card won't be something to stop my Dark Armed Dragon. My intuition tells me that it's;

I mean he has the Boggart Knight on the field with plenty of protection on the board too. He plans on sealing the duel with it next turn but I'll thwart him. I draw for the turn and drop Dark Armed Dragon and successfully swing over Stardust Dragon. With it destroyed, I can now blow stuff up with DAD. I destroy his Naturia Beast which means I can now play spells again. I target Boggart Knight for destruction but as expected, he chains the Gottoms Emergency Call and brings back Emmersblade and Dark Soul. I blow up Emmersblade and I also summon Junk Synchron and synchro into a Hyper Librarian and play my Future Fusion on Five-Headed Dragon too, dumping plenty of fuel for Dark Armed Dragon. I blow up his emmersblade and admittedly I should have blown up his Dark Soul too but I left it on the board. Not a major misplay or anything but in the grand scheme of things, I should have taken it out.

My bro has a comeback to my comeback though. He draws, summons X-Saber Fullhelmknight and drops another Faultroll (it's what lets him make all these synchros and stuff). He synchros into Trishula Dragon of the Ice Barrier and banishes my DAD, a REDMD in the yard and my lol Trap Dustshoot which I picked up from Hyper Librarian. Next turn I drop Dark Hole and slowly take control of the duel with a REDMD and stuff.

If Haxorus had the Dark Dragon typing, I would have voted him over Hydreigon to be honest. It's just his sheer, raw destructive power entices my soul you know. I really like them both either way. Hydreigon is just a solid well rounded Pokemon. Excellent bulk, frightening offences, the speed is a bit lacking but it's not too bad either.

Even though Hydreigon has higher stats I prefer Haxorus, the design is better (IMO) and overall I think it's still strong with a great movepool.

WHY DOES HYDREIGON HAVE MORE VOTES THAN HAXORUS? WHAT IS THIS.

I cannot express my love for Haxorus with words. He is just one of my favourite Pokémon oh my god.

Hydreigon, it's design is awesome (way better than that....Dragon?), it's stats are good, and he's fun to use!

My vote was for Hydreigon because I've used both but Haxorus is just one speed point slower, and I wanted a Special Attack Dragon. Although Haxorus has an absolutely absurdly HUGE attack for a non-legendary, Hydreigon just can be both whenever he wants if you train him as such

I would definitely say Hydreigon. Its one of my favorites from the Unova Region. I have (or had/will have again) a Hydreigon named Sazandora (its Japanese name) and it pwns with Dragon Pulse, trust me XD. Saz pwned everyone so, I have to say Hydreigon in honor of Saz.

Well, I definitely like them both. They both have their pros. Haxorus can take advantage of Mold Breaker, or with Rivalry, it becomes nearly unstoppable against a Pokemon of the same gender. It also has the highest Attack of all non-legendary Pokemon.

Then there's Hydreigon. It has unique dual-typing, STAB from Dark Pulse (if you can get it), a wide movepool allowing it to be a very proficient special sweeper, and Levitate. I do also plan on using Hydreigon in a new team I'm building.

Overall, I gotta go with Hydreigon. However, if you were doing a Dragon monotype team, you couldn't go wrong with having them both on your team.

Do you know what that thing is! PURE EPICNESS, That's what a Dragon should be. It guarantees an amazing sweep. Regardless Total Stat, I believe Haxorus fits me more. It Looks sooooo Cool as well! That Devastating look, Man! Can't express it with words, so simply Haxorus for me, Tough, A beast, Sweeps, Unstoppable, Cool Design, and FOR ME, Strategic. Give Haxorus some Momentum people D:
