HG/SS Help Thread

I'm goin' on a pokemon catching spree, 'cos I just finished my solo run and now I'm lost for what to do!

I'm trying to get Blue's number for a rematch in SS, I've visited his sister for the last three days to get my Typhlosion massaged but today all she's saying is "I always have tea around this time. Come join me" without any massage or phone number? Anyone know what to do here or had this problem either?
To get the phone number from Daisy you have to show her a Pokémon of full happiness after she has massaged it five times. Once she sees this, then she'll give you the number. You can schedule the rematch with Blue on Sunday Night.

Um...I don't get what you're asking? o_O;

If you're trying to catch and fill up your PokéDex, then maybe the 4th Generation PokéDex might help on getting their location. Other than that, there are many things to do such as the Battle Frontier, Going through Kanto if you haven't already, catching all the available legendaries, etc.

Why is Cleanse Tag not doing anything anymore? I mean I entered Cerulean Cave and it worked, but slowly it's effectiveness has ben fading away...

According to Bulbapedia, the exact description of the Cleanse Tag is "Prevents Pokémon with a lower level than the holder from appearing if the holder is first member in the player's party."

Going by this rule, the only logical answer I can think of to your problem is that your lead Pokémon is a lower level than the wild Pokémon in Cerulean Cave.

Nope, that's not the case. My Pokemons 30 levels higher :|

Ah... wait...

On Bulbapedia, despite it saying that Pokémon are prevented from appearing, all the separate game descriptions have it as "helping keep Pokémon away".

In this case, the Cleanse Tag is helping keep some away but clearly not all.

May I suggest some Repels?

Repels are your best bet but keep in mind they fail sometimes (very rarely)....but only if the wild pokemon are high levels.

Thanks i gots my mudkipz.... now to make it a breeding slave }=P>

Cleanse tag is a misnomer since it just decreases the chance of getting into a battle you will still seem to be getting in the same amount of battles because it doesnt eliminate the chances all to gether

Is there a way to make sure a Pokémon has reached maximum EVs, like the lady who gives the effort ribbon in Sinnoh?

Ok, I have been trying to get Beyond The Sea for the Pokewalker. I have registered my location, and traded with people in the UK. I have yet to unlock the route. Can anyone tell me why that is?

No, it's an AR!!! OMG!!!!!1111!!!!11shift
jk
It's just the way things are there. It may be absurd, but it happends :\

Now, where to train my Pokemon to atleast Lv55?

Well if you have all 16 badges, you can take on the elite 4, they'll be around lv 58-64
(except for Lance who will be lv 68-75), or maybe take on the gym leaders again.

According to Bulbapedia, you have to use the GTS to trade for a foreign Pokémon. I assume that means you probably have to do a trade over GTS and receive a Pokémon from a game that is in a different language. Try that maybe?

Thanks Falcons and Flare. The only problem is that everyone wants either Legendaries or lvl 100s for almost everything, Magikarp included.

That's one of the many unfortunate downsides to the GTS. Perseverance is the key . . . eventually you'll get a chance.

There's a similar lady in Blackthorn City that gives the same Effort Ribbon to a Pokémon with max EVs. If you aren't there yet, you can check yourself by using a vitamin on the Pokémon you're checking. Obviously, use a vitamin that gives EVs that you aren't already giving it (like if you're training the Pokémon in Attack and Speed, give it an Iron for Defense). If the vitamin works, it still had more room for EVs. Make sure to save before doing this so you can reset, otherwise you're stuck with unnecessary EVs. x_x

Maybe you should set up a trade and hope for the best? That's how I managed to get my Japanese Lickitung and unlock Beyond the Sea.

Either that or keep searching until you find a trade that isn't stupid and over-ambitious.

I dunno about you, but is Mantine really the best Pokémon to handle Jasmine? I mean, I dunno how good an idea it is to build one specialised fighter against Steelix. =|

Well considering I'm doing a Flying monotype challenge, that's the best bet I can think of. Yeah maybe it is a waste of time to train it just to beat Steelix, but I also want it as a helpful part of my team.

And to those who suggested Routes 47 and 48, you have to beat Jasmine before you can access those, if I'm not mistaken.
