Howdy!

My name is Véronique and I've been playing Pokémon since Pokémon Yellow version. Honestly, I've never been into it to the point where I've battled competitively nor have I ever completed the Pokédex once. Right now, I'm trying to complete the Kalos Pokédex and it's mostly complete. A little more breeding, a little trading and I'll be done and then, I'll start trying to breed for competitive battling. :)

Nice to meet you too Veronique! We have quite a few people dedicated to completing the Pokedex as well, so you are not on your own here.

The Trade Corner section is there for all the trading purposes you need as already mentioned, but I think you'll definitely enjoy Battling & Team Building section given the dedication you want to spend towards the competitive scene, and we have tons of regulars who can help with teambuilding and other things you need to know.

Good luck with all that, and hopefully you'll complete your Pokedex as well. I'll be sure to catch you around later!

Thanks. Yeah, I don't really want to purchase Omega Ruby, Pokémon Y and another 3DS just to complete the Pokédex, not while I'm 50 or 60 Pokémon away from completing the thing. :)

Hi, Veronique, im the same, i couldnt justify spending upwards or $300 just for some more pokes. Thats why I came here :) theres a great sense of community here, and we're all more than happy to help. If youd like, send me a message with what you are missing and im sure i can fill in a couple of blanks. Are you collecting every pokemon from Kalos? to have one of each species? or just completing the pokedex? Im on a journey to collect every single pokemon ever made, and So far have over 500 of the critters, its tedious work, but im looking forward to getting that Shiny Charm :p . Hope to hear from ya soon :)

Well, the immediate goals are to get the shiny charm, but I would like one of each if for no other reason, than to make it easier to complete the 'Dex once the next gen comes out... but I think I'd probably do some Masuda trading as well to make breeding shinies more likely. Right now, I'm 50 or 60 shy of completion of the national 'dex, I think I still need one or two Y-exclusive Pokémon to get a full Kalos dex, not to mention Squirtle (since I chose Charmander as my Kanto starter at the beginning of the game and I was able to bring over a Venusaur and breed two Bulbasaurs out of it, evolving one into an Ivysaur as well. I had to restart my game because I'm trying to finish up my collection of Sinnoh and Hoenn starter families and I know I can get Zekrom from Pokémon Alpha Sapphire after completing the game, and the last Sinnoh starter after beating the Elite 4 twice...

Yeah, it's mostly for the Oval and Shiny charms so I can start some serious competitive breeding, but it's also for the fact that I never did it before. Maybe it's because I'm a masochist, trying to get all 718 pokémon, but if I'm going to have a stockpile of well-trained Pokémon with awesome moves, it helps to have suitable parents in Pokémon Bank ready to breed. :)

2nd: Pokemon Obtained at some point
3rd: Pokemon we currently possess.
I believe that would make the Pokedex just a little bit better.

I know we can refine searches in the GTS to Pokemon we still have, but unless your Pokeboxes are set out like mine ([Box #1 1-3] [Box #2 31-60] etc etc) It is very difficult to keep accurate track of what you currently have.

Yeah, right now, I'm doing it in a spreadsheet in Numbers, especially since I'm keeping them in Pokémon Bank.

my collection takes up 7/8ths of my PC box. but thats the price i pay for wanting prompt access at all times though. it helps when you sort them though. A lot. haha took me 2 1/2 hours to sort 550 pokes out haha. shifting bunches here and there...

Yeah, I have them sorted by type in the Pokémon Bank, but does get a bit hairy with dual-types.

Welcome to PC, Véronique, awesome having you. c: aaa Yellow was one of the best Pokemon games, the sprite quality jumped compared to R/B and I was so happy being able to use all of the starters plus Pikachu on my team. Living Ash's life was the best as a kid, heh.

Awesome to hear you're finishing up with the Kalos dex! It isn't tough to complete the dex nowadays with the PSS/GTS and websites like these to help you out so you'll definitely get there. Though I'll admit the shiny charm seems like it's been giving me even worse luck.. I've barely gotten any shinies since I got mine. :'(

Yeah, I actually found Pokémon by watching the anime first... but to be honest, even though my first game was Yellow, my favourite was Gold and Crystal and when they released HeartGold/SoulSilver, it really made me fall in love with Johto all over again, not to mention the fact that they finally built out Kanto as well. Yeah, I mean I know that Kanto in G/S/C was probably more of an afterthought than anything else but still, it is nice to see even Kanto get that Gen IV touch.

Yeah, someone here has helped me immensely by giving me some of the starters that I would have had to reset my game to get (i.e. Squirtle and Fennekin) and I've used the GTS to get Yveltal and a couple of other Y-exclusives. I'm getting close to completing the Pokédex, though. :) As for the shinies, I think it's all about chance. About a couple of weeks ago, I got a shiny Tangela in Alpha Sapphire and a shiny Relicanth in Pokémon X not just on the same day but that morning!

Yeah, I don't like how I have to bring along a HM slave with Flash to complete the story in SoulSilver. I can only think of two places that require Flash in Johto/Kanto and they are not nearly as expansive as the Whirl Islands.

Hope you can fill that Pokedex soon! I never cared about it, I don't see the point, haha. And competitive battling is great, it' lots of fun sometime! I love it, and I hope you can have fun with it as well!

Well, I dunno, that always seemed like one of the goals of the games, one that I never achieved. Sure, I can see how it will be pointless, maybe less so than making my 'dex a living dex, which will be a bit tougher to achieve, but there are some definitive benefits to it, such as getting the oval charm and the shiny charm... which increase the likelihood of eggs appearing at the Day Care (which is helpful for Pokémon breeding) and getting a shiny respectively. So, there are benefits to it other than just being able to say that I've done it.

But yeah, now, I'm down to the last 10-20 to achieve the goal and I know what most of this will consist of: levelling up a couple of Pokémon that I don't have the evolution for, catching the legendaries I don't have registered (Landorus, Giratina and Zekrom), Frosslass and trading the Pokémon I do have that require a trade+item to evolve (i.e. Porygon-2... though, I do have Porygon-Z, Steelix and Dusclops... I think). Oh yeah, and the Sinnoh starter I'm working on getting (though, I can get it by beating the ORAS Elite 4 twice). So, I think I can get it done by the end of the week at worst. :)
