What if Professor Oak was the true final boss of the Kanto games?
 
Then Delphox would be fire/fighting instead and would be the subject of gamer's rage instead of Emboar.

What if gen 8 takes place in space?
 
Then it would have an easy mode and a harder mode which is just higher leveled teams, not smarter AI

What if Dunsparce was a starter pokemon?
 
It would become the mascot of "Pokémon: Special Dunsparce Edition," a game where Dunsparce is the only available starter Pokémon!

What if Team Magma succeeded in their goal of expanding the world's landmass?
 
As Shakespeare wrote: "What's in a name?" I don't think that'd have much impact at all, besides maybe people confusing the game character and anime character just a little more than they already do.

What if shinies and regularly colored Pok?mon were equally common?
