Did you think that we were going to get a Hoenn game before it was announced? Or were you really convinced we wouldn't?

Do you still think R/S remakes were a good idea? Should we have waited until Generation 7 or just not at all?

Yeah when ORAS was announced I don't remember being very surprised at all. It was right about the time that most people were expecting a remake I think.

As for whether it was actually needed... frankly, I don't think it was necessary for them to remade during Gen 6 and I wouldn't have minded waiting until Gen 7 instead.

I used to speculate a lot about Hoenn getting a possible remake, back during 5th Gen I believe. After X/Y was announced I was starting to lose hope, but it was still happy when OR/AS did get announced, just in the generation I didn't expect a Hoenn remake to happen in.

Looking back on it, remaking Hoenn was a good idea considering how outdated the region was.

I had a feeling they would remake R/S before they announced it. It had been about 11 years since it was first released after all, and the Gen 1 and 2 remakes came out 10 years after the original games.

I don't think it would've mattered which gen the remakes came out in, 6 or 7. In the end ORAS were still good games.

I was in the middle. Initially I was convinced we would but be getting remakes, but when there were no remakes for the fifth gen, I was kinda skeptical as to whether we would be getting remakes ever again. Low and behold gen VI blessed us with the long awaited Ruby & Sapphire remakes. I'm happy with how ORAS turned out, they're up there with Platinum as my favorite main series Pokemon games! That means Sinnoh remakes are next, right?

I always thought we would get a Hoenn remake and I was hopeful it would come in Gen 6. After several references to Hoenn in X and Y, it got my hopes up and let's just say I had the biggest fanboy ever to the ORAS announcement ;)

I think they were definitely a good idea, Kanto and Johto got remakes, so why not Hoenn? I know you could still get your Pokemon from RSE to the current games but it's about more than that and going back to the region in 3D was amazing.

I was expecting Hoenn remakes back during Generation V and was surprised that they didn't come during that time. Then the rumors started again around the time X/Y came out and I thought to myself "if they don't do Hoenn remakes for Generation VI, then they will never do them period."

Needless to say, I was quite happy that the internet went abuzz with 'HOENN CONFIRMED' when OR/AS were announced-particularly because the fans would be quite happy to see Generation III's main paired games remade.

I was pretty convinced that we were getting remakes, just because of all the subtle hints dropped in X/Y and the fact that one was due. Maybe I just wanted to believe in a Hoenn remake, but it seemed pretty obvious to me.

Sound the trumpets, hoen returns and it was glorious, if depressingly easy. Too easy, I got board quick of it, did not finish ORAS. Loved gen 3 though.

I did. So much so, in fact, that I refused to do a playthrough of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald until one was announced so Hoenn would feel fresh again.

Although I wish they were more of an Emerald remake than Ruby/Sapphire, like HeartGold/SoulSilver was of Crystal.

I honestly was surprised when they came out with the remakes. (though this was before i paid much attention to game making patterns) I was really excited whent hey did though and found it to be an amazingly fun and one of the best experiences playing Pokemon I've had.

As for being necessary, probably not but it was cool to have it be part of the Mega Evolution period and fully confirm the multiverse theory.

    The remakes were great
    The intro blew me away
    Same with the graphics

    They were easy though
I get why they would be but
    I'd like a challenge

I was the type who wasn't expecting these games to come out, and frankly didn't care whether they did or not since I wasn't a major fan of Hoenn anyway. After the remakes came out I definitely loved the region and games in general more than I did on the GBA. At least now I know they'll probably keep remaking the other games too, so I definitely have Sinnoh to look forward to, but I bet they'll come out in Gen 8.

Even though I was already a huge fan of Hoenn, seeing it in 3D really changed my opinion about it, so I'm glad that I'm not alone in this thought.

I wonder if people can say the same for Sinnoh, though.

Never liked Gen III. Didn't think they were needed because we can transfer Pokémon all the way to the current and next Gen from the original games.

Gen I and Gen II needed remakes because you can't transfer from the originals. I also thought that if they did remake Gen III, then they would have to do Gen I as well because those are the only games that aren't on the DS format. Now we have the originals as virtual games that can transfer to Gen VII.

You didn't think so, even with the fact that Nintendo was marketing the 3DS at the time, which didn't have the GBA slot (meaning that newcomers to the series drawn in by BW and XY wouldn't be able to play Hoenn at all), and that the GBA games weren't even being produced anymore? Not criticizing, just curious, because these are the reasons why I assumed it was getting a remake.
