Most people hate Hoenn, me included; it won't be a popular remake series and not only because the originals are modern-looking enough, but they'll probably do it anyway.
The fact Game Freak makes remakes anyway is a clear show that they're running out of ideas, which is funny since if they made an obvious to-do: a PC-based MMO, the franchise would likely see a resurge in popularity.
I disagree with the claim they're running out of ideas - IMO making remakes =/= lack of ideas at any rate. (First off don't forget the new games/regions they've brought every gen as well as the remakes they brought, and all those new features/problems fixed in the remakes as well.) It's more that sticking to a general formula and remaking games brings them $$$, so they don't bother trying to fix something that is far from broken - looking at sales, it's certainly working very well for them. HG/SS will quite likely continue to prove that when it comes out outside of Japan.
An MMO as well? Nintendo and Game Freak don't operate like that, and I doubt it'd actually work when considered. That and a resurge in popularity would be unlikely to happen, as Pokemon is
already still popular. *points to game sales that broke records - even Platinum's*
Slow down there, I didn't say everyone; stop touting that anti-generalisation tripe.
My statement is coming from the numerous polls I've seen in the past, with enough replies to encompass most of the active members of this board. If you have a considerably larger show of opinions that says otherwise, please do present it.
Wll I can show one such one on another forum:
https://serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=398384 I can say that the majority of that thread (with 400+ replies) are along the lines of 'people who hate the games are silly I love the third gen', some with reasons. Plenty liked the games, and if a RSE remake is ever made, by the time it happens there would be many new gamers to buy and play it who haven't played RSE before (ten years or so would be a lot of time afterward).
But if it happens, it wouldn't be until midway in the 5th gen at the very earliest, I'd imagine, and maybe they'd want to make another new game instead. It's up to them really, so we'd have to wait and see.
I honestly dont think we need a remake of them after HG/SS, personally i just want a game where you can go to all regions and catch all pokemon without having to trade :p
Unlikely to happen, IMO - GameFreak have only ever gone at most two regions in the one game (with GSC which was downsized majorly), and seeing as they make plenty of money from games with just the one region, they'd stick to that. A game with all regions would possibly hurt their sales in the long term, I'd imagine - why buy a game with one region - but a new one - when the last one had all of them? Then there's problems, such as levelling - you'd hit the level 100's by the third region, and then what? Either that or each journey is very small... and we don't want downsized regions.
As for the comment that Hoenn Pokemon rule/suck... well, I've seen such comments applied to every generation. Whether they suck or not is subjective, really... IMO some suck, and some were pretty decent. =P
