4th Gen Honestly, whoever thought of events should be fired

    I, like many others have bought Platinum..however I bought my copy after all the events took place for ROtom forms, Darkrai, and Shaymin, which means I cannot get them as me being the OT without hacking.

    Okay, so maybe the event things makes you do a little work, but whose idea was it to make it a limited time?
     
    i agree. events are really stupid. i mean i can see giving out special pokemon at events but make it so that the pokemon can also be obtained in the game. darkrai is my favorite pokemon and i cant get one because i didnt live anywhere close to where the event was taking place. same with all the other ones. i think that all pokemon should be available in the games, not make you go to gamestop or other stores/places to get them because not everyone has one of the stores close by and also not all stores do the events. the wifi ones arent as bad but still i cant restart my hg or ss without loosing my pokewalker routes.
    and i really dont want to hack my games because i feel it takes away from the games.
     
    events really don't bother me as I do not care for or like legendaries when I need them for my dex I just trade for them
     
    I agree with Poster #2. I am sometimes "near" events, but even then. I usually wait about 8-14 months after the game is released before I buy it. Mainly because I'm dirt poor :(

    But I did buy HeartGold at it's release, mainly because I am a nostalgia addict and LOVED Pokemon Gold.

    But that's getting off topic a bit. The point is they should make all legendary Pokemon available in the games without the addition of a special event. I understand Pokemon that have special movesets (as to be honest, I don't care if Mew doesn't have Beat-Up, Etc,.) but I don't want to have to fly all the way to the New York Pokemon Center just to get a full Pokedex.
     
    No, I disagree!! I love events!!!

    But they should just make them more accessible for you guys who have trouble getting them. I can agree with that.

    But events are AWESOME! We need more events!

    Events really irrate me. Why do they hate me? D:
    I don't live near anywhere to get any event Pokemon. Why can't they just make event-Pokemon incredibly rare. Like, for example, a cave that you can only enter if you have 6 Pokemon at level 100 or something like that? But oh no, if I want Darkrai or any other event Pokemon I have to travel hundred's of miles. Great.

    Mew, deoxys, lugia, ho-oh you know the jist.

    All events, It made you die to know that there were legendarys there that you had NO chance of getting :(
     
    I like wi-fi events.

    I just wish you downloaded them to your console, instead of the game. Then you could also go over the 3 wonder card limit (I've never reached it, but I don't get it. Do I have to lose a pokewalker route to get Latias??).

    If they were downloaded to the console, they could just be programmed so that they can only be activated once per save file, right?

    There's nothing wrong with movie events, etc. It makes sense, they only really give the pokemon to some darn dedicated fans. And then a few of those fans clone them and spread them throughout the world to get some other rare pokemon. xD

    I agree. It's shameless profiteering, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. The only Events I can have access to are the ones from the wi-fi connection, and now that that's gone I can't get any of them. It's highly unfair, especially if you need them to complete your PokéDex. :/
     
    I don't think it's fair that some events are only for certain countries. I think they should be for everyone, really. I mean, the wifi events aren't so bad at least you don't have to go anywhere to get them. I do think it's kind of stupid to have to go to an actual store or somewhere else, just to get a pokemon onto your game. Especially when not everyone lives that close to said store, or other type of event.

    And most of the event pokemon are special or rare, so I don't really think it's all that fair to not distribute them to everyone who owns a pokemon game for their DS. I know people clone them all the time, but I'd kind of like an event pokemon that I got myself (not including that GS Pichu for HG/SS), instead of having to get a clone or hack to complete my pokedex. :/

    I did all the events and I had to delete a wonder card in order to get another event on there. You don't loose the event. All you loose is the card. And the cards only purpose is, if you have a japanese version of the game, wonder cards can be transfered to a friends game. They disabled that on American games. You wouldnt loose the event from loosing the card.
     
    They are there for those who listen,play actively,and who care. Not for them to just be there forever,for everyone to grab one and make that pokemon extremely common in a game.
     
    If they made them more available that would've been nice. With the Darkrai and Shaymin events going on it caught me off guard that the Arceus event was at toys r us. They should just stick with wi-fi and improve the way that it functions. They made a big fuss about being able to get events via wifi and they haven't done much with it. It would be sweet if they incorporated a way to get the events permanently by paying very little to unlock the event on a wii or something, and some people might be opposed to that but it's better than just missing out. Just find a friend with a wii and go over and get your events on. But I can also see that backfiring and nintendo becoming A-holes with the concept and getting much hate for extorting people for event pokemon.
     
    I especially hate the way Game Freak have come to rely on Events lately. It's not like they're not making enough money as it is. It's probably going to get to the point one day that the game's main Legendaries are ~Event only~.

    Events were scarce in the first two generations, but about half way through the third, they just went bonkers with it, now look at the fans, many are mad because Game Freak, or should be renamed to "Event Freak", relies too much on events, I can't even make my Shaymin obtained through walk thru walls turn into sky forme, cause the event Shaymins were fixed to having only those un-nicknameable individuals turn into Sky Forme and all others stay Land Forme FOREVER, cause they do not care about the fans at all, only themselves.......

    With this, it has made people almost IMPOSSIBLE to complete their Pokedexes legally

    To make things worse, they are making Zorua an event only, despite not being legendary at all, this is dissapointing many fans who live far from events and really want a Zorua, including me, hopefully, this is not true and we can get Zorua ingame, this is probably a Zorua that learns a special move that others of it's kind can't, we can only see when the games come out (hope to God that there is another way to obtain Zorua) Some people don't like Zorua, but for the people that do, this is just awful.......

    Nintendo cares nothing about their fans, just look at how they treat the Mother fanbase.....
     
    If I remember right, the Azure Flute hasn't been released yet. :/ So, what's going on now? Did they forget about it now that they're promoting HGSS? Looks like it's gonna meet the same fate as the Altering Caves in FR/Lg and Emerald, which was put in the latter for no reason since the event wasn't even held at all.

    I always miss events. I mean the only ones I have access to in the UK are when they are giving out pokemon at Toys 'R' Us.. and I don't even think they've done that for ages :|

    The ones obtained in Platinum can be both Sky Forme and nicknamed, but anyway.

    It's been like that since the start. Although technically you don't need event Pokemon to complete it anyway.

    I don't think GameFreak really make money from the events. And I doubt that was their reason for creating Mew either.

    Earthbound bombed whden it was released in English (although it was there own fault), so that is sort of understandable.

    i dont mind so much the event pokemon themselves, but i seriously CANNOT STAND IT when they give out event pokemon with unique moves ONLY for that event, example is jirachi with draco meteor, so it's like if you get a bad natured one, oh well you get whatcha get and you dont get upset >=(
     
    Ok events aren't necessary to play pokemon games.
    All I'm reading is a bunch of hate on Nintendo.
    So what if they made a pokemon exclusive its not their fault that you don't live close to a event location. There are plenty of pokemon not exclusive to events that are extremely powerful.
    If nintendo hated their fans they wouldn't even make events...

    the arguement just because some kids in U.S. are denied a darkrai that nintendo is a facist coporation bent on world domination is just pathetic. You should be thanking Nintendo that they even give the possibility of event pokemon, and that they update the pokemon games. Seriously they put out a pokemon game almost every 2 years and the fanbase will never be satisfied because its just not enough for some people.
