Them game corner minigames. How long do you spend in a game corner trying to gamble away coins to get that darn porygon? Do you even bother with the game corners? If not, why?

I tell ya, as a kid on the 1st gen pokemon games, I'd spend way too much time in those things. It's one of the reasons why I don't go to casinos (I am over 21 now so I could...). Those slots, and hell, even the voltorb minesweeper were just way too addicting for me XD.

  • I always get short end of the stick on game corners. If anything it taught me not to gamble, actually. There are some rumors that some slot machines have better odds than others, though there's nothing substantial to testify the validity of those statements.

  • I usually don't bother with the Game Corners because if I decide to go in, I usually don't come out until I've won my prize Pokemon or I'm completely broke. The latter is more common, so I avoid them in general.

  • I tried playing some of the games on the Game Corner but they didn't really caught my attention so I left. I found them kind of boring. I'm not much of a gambler either.

When I had nothing to do, I used to go over to the Game Corner every now and then. I wouldn't stay there for too long, though. Maybe just five or six minutes. I was never able to score much coins by playing the mini-games, because I wasn't very good at them. I wasn't very lucky, either. If I ever needed coins to buy TMs, items, or even Pokémon, then I would just go up to the counter and exchange my money for those coins. xD

  • I never really got into the slots, but I loved the roulettes in RSE.

  • I think the FR/LG slot machines are relatively easy to play. I remember my brother and I taking turns with those machines during a drive to Vegas when we were kids. :P We hit so many jackpots! Despite being Rocket-run, those slots don't seem as rigged as some of the other ones.

The slots in D/P/Pt are kind of friendly too, as long as you keep at it. I still remember getting 10 consecutive bonuses and winning that Explosion TM the first time. ^-^

For the games that give you a choice of slots and another game (Card Flip, Roulette), I preferred the other game. Slots were evil in those. Also, I love Voltorb Flip.

I go into the Game Corners alright, but I just buy coins with my money solely then exchange these coins for prizes, I can't really recall the last time I actually played a game there...

  • I never enjoyed the Game Corner due to how annoyingly hard it is to get good scores. I was actually glad the anti-gambling law in Europe caused the removal of the whole Game Corner by 5th Gen. The only Game Corner I really enjoyed was Hoenn's, which had that fun roulette.

  • I've tried my hand on those slots and won quite a bit of coins with it. Voltorb Flip was cool too. Won enough to get myself some TMs. Didn't manage to get that Porygon though.

    This! xD

I at some point decided to believe that it shouldn't be possible to win there, that the player wasn't meant to be able to afford those prizes from winning at the slots, so I gave up totally and didn't play in any later games than second gen.

  • I hate the slots. I can never win. I do like Voltorb Flip and Card Flip. Didn't leave the Game Corner in Soul Silver until I got a Dratini to trade to a friend.

  • I only ever do Voltorb Flip when there's a certain TM or something I want, though on occasions i'm able to get big amounts of coins. In a recent Monotype here, I spent an hour grinding for a TM24 for Thunderbolt before even beating Whitney.

But in games other than HGSS, no, I just cut to the chase and buy coins.

Hohoho... The only Game Corner that I played for a longer time was the one in Veilstone,
since I was aiming for the Explosion TM, which I eventually got.

Usually it's the BGM that's attracting me to get in the Game Corner. :)

  • I was too lazy to save up money from slot machines, I bought my coins instead! I re-battled trainers who'd give a decent amount of money while using an amulet coin so i could afford the Game Corner coins...

  • I tend to avoid them because I almost never win and none of the games are actually fun to me. Except for voltorb flip, I can play that all day, on any other games I just buy enough coins to retrieve the prizes. ¯(°_o)/¯

  • I spent at least two hours one day playing Voltorb Flip. Once I figured out how it worked, it ended up being fun! But after I left the Game Corner, I completely forgot about it. I still need a Porygon, so I better get back into it!

With effective use of fingers and a tapping machine, I managed to buy up enough cash to buy Porygon and others in Blue. The other games I used to buy up using cash. That Voltorb Flip thing was just too stupid and didn't give a single grit of coins. Nope, nothing. I believe HGSS's Game Corner was a waste of time.
