Hello! I'm Víctor, a 22-year old Spaniard who has a degree in Journalism. I'm a procastrinator unless I have something to read and a videogame to play, which happens pretty often. I currently live in Madrid although I'll be moving to Buenos Aires (Argentina) next month to work there.

One of my really weird hobbies is buying CDs! I don't know anybody else who buys those anymore :P I'm also a comic collector and a to-go person if you want to talk politics.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a million other things but that's what this forum is for. Ask if you want!

    Hello Victor!

¿Real Madrid, Atletico de Madrid, Razing, Atletico de Bilbao? Which is your favorite Spanish soccer team? Or do you hate futbol?

Oh, nameless great Journalists and Writers escaped Spain to live and work in Buenos Aires. Ramón Goméz de la Cerna himself. I'm sure you won't be an exception.
So, what do you expect of Buenos Aires?

    What games do you like?

A Spaniard! That's pretty awesome. I love buying CDs too, especially music albums. I feel like that has more sentimental value than just buying tracks off iTunes, and I can play tunes whenever I'm in a car too.

What made you so interested in journalism in the first place?

I still prefer buying CDs over downloading music. It's a lot more personal and sentimental that way. I love the feeling of actually owning something cause it's gratifying.

Anyway, what kind of books do you read? Any specific genre?

I'll be happy to be the first person to ask you questions, Mr. Wentos. :3

    1. Do you ever see yourself in an anchor-like position in news? Or maybe doing field reporting? When I was in journalism classes, I was typically the person behind the camera, so would working in the studio be your thing, or would you rather be in front of the camera? So many questions, of course!

    2. What first got you interested in journalism?

    3. How would you describe Spain's Government in a nutshell?

My main goal is to be a writer, which is my current job. Although in my new position in Argentina, I'll be supposed to help with TV as well- but I'm a camera-shy person so I'd rather not be on screen unless absolutely needed. Obviously not to being an anchor XD

A politics comic I started reading when I was 8. I have thousands of them in a cupboard in my room XD Then the free tabloids that appeared around the 00's got me used to the concept of a newspaper.

A freaking mess. Corruption scandals breaking out 24/7, moronic ministers, a climate of popular discontent and an useless Congress which only says "yes master" to anything brought up by the President.

    Hello Victor!

¿Real Madrid, Atletico de Madrid, Razing, Atletico de Bilbao? Which is your favorite Spanish soccer team? Or do you hate futbol?

If you pronounce the words "Atlético de Bilbao" here, be ready to get hordes of Athletic Club supporters with pitchforks calling you fascist (no joke: Atlético Bilbao was the name Athletic Club was forced to use during Franco's fascist dictatorship because their real name sounded "too foreign"). If you call them "Athletic Bilbao", they might spare your life.

Also Racing? Poor dudes- they have been relegated two years straight, from 1st division in 2011 to 2ndB this year. And they might even get a bonus relegation to 3rd division if an alleged match-fixing scandal is proven.

    Anyway,

    Spoiler:

Runs on the family. My grandfather was an Athletic supporter, my grandmother was an Atleti one soo... I chose the Madrid one since I lived there and not in Bilbao XD

Oh, nameless great Journalists and Writers escaped Spain to live and work in Buenos Aires. Ramón Goméz de la Cerna himself. I'm sure you won't be an exception.
So, what do you expect of Buenos Aires?

I really don't know! I expect a 21st Century city, full of culture and cheap meat. It helps that I'll be paid in euros so that's going to help my income rate greatly. But, as I said, I'm not expecting anything- I'm open to whatever happens! (I AM expecting the October Legislative elections though, that will be fun).

    What games do you like?

I'm a huge sucker for RPGs. Just beat Tales of Graces f and Mario & Luigi 4. I'm now looking forward to Pokémon (obv :P) and the last Layton/Ace Attorney games.

How does it feel being one of the few staff members at PC to not be from an English-speaking country?

Well, I'm not the only one so I'm not completely alone :P Idk. I haven't really felt "special".

What made you so interested in journalism in the first place?

Certainly. Not to mention iTunes tracks aren't really "owned" by you. I'd rather have a physical copy. I'm not much of a 100% digital person yet (until I move and end up forced to buy games from the eShop because regional locking but that's another topic XD).

La segunda ya tal (aka Derk already asked that :P)

Exactly! And books? Uh, I'm a sucker for mystery/police novels (currently reading the Jaritos series by Petros Márkaris), and I have around 30 Agatha Christie books XD Also politics. Specially if there is a touch of humour here and there. I'm not that serious most of the time.

The problem with US politics is that the Democrats would be a right-wing party in Europe while the Republicans would go off the charts, so that's what keeps me off. In the upcoming elections, I'm going to vote for the Spanish Communist Party (which is currently fighting to become the second party in Spain) so I'd find it really hard to find someone I'd truly want to vote there (maybe Sen. Sanders, but that's just one congressman out of 535). Also, just thinking about non-public healthcare makes me sick.

I do believe the US system is much better than what we have though, at least when it comes down to balance of power. In that way, I'd rather live in the UK, which has the better of both systems in my opinion.

    Yay for the UK wooo

La segunda ya tal (aka Derk already asked that :P)
Dammit, feel like an idiot now >.<

Seeing that you have lived in Spain your whole life, how well do you speak English in real life? And how did you learn English in the first place? You speak very well, so I'm interested to know. Also, seeming as you support Atletico Madrid, what are your hopes for this season? And if ever got the opportunity, would you become a sports journalist?

Well, my English level is a C2/Cambridge Proficiency which is the highest one possible for a non-native, although, to be honest, my accent is rather thickly Spanish for obvious reasons :P The British people who have met me can attest to that. I learnt it at school. Yeah. Started having classes in 1st grade when I was 5 and didn't stop until first year of University, 13 years later. Of course, I truly started learning when I began to read books (Harry Potter, mainly- didn't want to wait anotehr year for the translation) and, specially, when I got a copy of Pokémon Ruby in a contest. I truly put all my efforts to understand what they were saying, and the fact that I could "guess" what some attacks were helped a lot. Also, a couple of months later I was sent a Spanish Zafiro so I was able to double-check any words I hadn't udnerstood on my first playthroughs.

Then I found Internet forums! They help you a lot to learn slang and how to talk to people outside of grammar books.

My hopes for this season? Making it to the CL quarterfinals, winning The Other League (aka finishing 3rd in the League, right behind Real Barça), and hopefully avoiding Barcedrid in the Cup draws until the final so we can have a chance to win it. In other words, the top hopes for anybody else in Spain other than Madrilona.

And I love sports but sports journalism would be at the bottom of my priorities right now (well... over Tabloid Press whateverism). As I said, I'd rather talk politics.

Do you use any English on a regular basis outside of PC? (or the internet in general)

Very rarely. Last year we had to interview some German guys who didn't speak Spanish, and I was asked to listen to an US Ambassador press conference once since none of my workmates speak any decent English and the Ambassador doesn't speak Spanish XD Otherwise, no. Only for computers and well, videogames. And English books, of course.

What's it like being a cereal?

Do you have a favorite set of Pokemon cards?

Don't you hate having to wait on stores to stock CDs? That's assuming you like to buy new releases, anyway.

How do you feel about chocolate?

Other than Espeon, what's your favorite Eeveelution?

    what

No really. All I know from PTCG I have learnt it from watching your videos so I don't really have an opinion XD I'm going to say anything without Aipoms.

And well, the CD store in my neighbourhood closed some years ago so I now have to go to shopping centres to buy them, and those don't tend to have stock issues. Also, I love to check the older stands in case I find a cheap album I hadn't heard about before. I found a lot of great bands that way.

Chocolate milk for breakfast (aka milk with powder cocoa), maybe some chocolate-flavoured yoghourt for dessert (which I tend to alternate with other varieties), and maybe a slice of chocolate cake when I'm eating in a restaurant, so not very often. Oh, and ice-cream cones in summer. But you'll never see me eating a chocolate bar. Idk why. Never appealed that much to me.

Uhhh well I'm starting to like Sylveon mostly because it's cute, but I don't have any other preferences XD

It's just a contraction of my full name, Víctor Ventura. People used to call me W because of my initials so when I first had to think of a nickname to use on the internet, my first idea was that. Obviously, I was told it was too short so I decided to add more letters from my surname until I got a word that didn't sound too strange- and the rest is history, as they say.

Did you know you have a sickass name?

Would you travel to write a story you're deeply interested in? How far would you take risks right now? do you think it would change?

David Moyes. United. Your opinions? Also, do you believe the English government is right in believing that convincing more people to take out mortgages is the correct way to kick start the economy into a recovery/boom (a little bit more economic than political, but hey ho!)

    Hi went~

If you could become a blue moderator again and had to pick two sections to mod, what would those two be?

Travel? Certainly. I'm going to work to Argentina in a couple of weeks and I'm ready to go anywhere, as long as I can manage with Spanish/English (I'm not going to go to a place where I wouldn't be able to talk to anybody at all just out of the blue).

The more confident I get with my job, the more I'd be ready to travel, I guess. But I have zero intention to become a war correspondent or anything like that, and I don't think I have the slight interest on studying some magical story in the middle of Africa, I'm foremost a political junkie.

Not following the Premiership too much, so I don't really have an opinion just yet. Sorry!

I don't think the way to recover from the housing bubble is creating a new housing bubble, that's just stupid. Also the fast way, but you know, no shortcuts really work in the long run. Might help in the short one but the main problem was that the housing prices skyrocketed out of actual market value. Helping people get mortgages will prevent those prices from returning back to actual offer/demand equilibrium, which should be the point.

Forum Games and Sydland. Yes, I'm so boring I'd go back to where I started :P

In fact, if I ever quit admin, I'd ask for a chance to be allowed back in there, like Sammi did.
