If you were mod for a day...

To be honest, when I wasn't a mod, I never thought about what I'd be doing if I was actually a mod. Though now that I am, I just do things I expected a mod would be doing. In any case, I was eager to hand out my first (deserved) emblem for one, answer a report and close a thread. I did it all fairly quickly so I guess I'm fufilled, but you tend to create little goals for yourself, well I do at least, when you've got nothing to do.

I currently muse myself at how the administration could use threads like this to whittle out people particularly unsuited for a staff position, granted the posts are not necessarily serious. Probably not to much effect. None the less, I do see a lot of "ban stupid people" — really? Again probably not; but 'stupid' is quite a vague and subjective word, and I'm left to wonder just how subjective one can get before their +4 Moustache of Authority needs realigning.

Anyway, taking the liberty of assuming I am not actually replacing someone for this hypothetical day so much as merely supplementing them, I wouldn't do anything unless it was clearly in breach of the rules; I wouldn't want to risk the notion of muddying the day of the local full-time mod who's already proud enough of their work. I would also explore the forums my new group permissions allow me to view.

As soon as I became a Moderator, I'd give infractions to random people just to create some chaos around the forums.

But seriously, I guess I'd do a Moderator's job; give infractions, lock threads, edit posts, move threads, delete threads, delete spam messages and all that good stuff. To be honest, I wouldn't have the time to be an active Moderator. Being a Moderator is a big responsibility and it could turned to a lot of work depending on the community.

I spent time working on the rules for Other Entertainment in the first 24 hours I was a moderator, and looking around the staff forums.

Since I'm already a moderator, I'll just take it "If you were s-mod for a day", in which case, I would spend the entire day reading threads in the HQ. I'd likely get banned after the 24 hours considering that stuff's top secret. Same goes if I was an AA or an SA for the day as well, only in their respective forums.

I'd abuse the massive profile picture permissions moderators have.

C'mon guys, don't deny it, you would too.

I dare you to take that information and make it public. I would. Censored, but still. It'd be really fun to read this kind of stuff (considering I know how to access that area and read it without going online, stealing all the information on PC's server is fairly simple) but we'd get in trouble. XD

Honestly, I really want to help out the RBYGSC area. Really badly, too.

I will add a new rule:

*All of you must be Piplup, has a Piplup avatar and a signature containing but not limited too one Piplup Sprite.

I believe that mods can only change their section's rule's, so Galukxy in your section only no one would get infractions but people still can be banned ;P

Well, if it was just for one day, I would probably read the threads I find interesting in the revealed section(s).

i would actually get threads up, instead of just goofing off. then i'd look at threads, and actually moderate (because most mods don't)

but if i were a real mod, i'd do that, but also goof off because i'd have time to (do mod stuff every other day, but do some on days off).

i know it sounds boring, but at least there would be 1 active mod instead of lazy ones.

I would probably start weaning through all the unused accounts. Like "Joined July 22, 2003" "0 posts". Yeah, he's gone. ;D

"Last Visited: Never" That's the most important part. Any account over 4 years old that has 0 posts and visited never is on my list.

Actually, I'd return my old thread back up in the PMD section that was taken down about a year ago. It was a sticky, that's why. Still open, though.

become an unprofessional jerk who is rude to newcomers and friendly folks when it's uncalled for, bask in the illusion of power and popularity and narrow down topics that can be discussed for the few members who like to ruin them because i'd rather not take the precious time out of my day to monitor and infract them. which is what my job would entail, but the social aspects that come with the title are much more preferable u kn0

Get mah' beatin' stick and wack me some trolls!
