I can credit my life to nepotism. It's how I make a living <3
Nepotism...
*immediately google translates and looks in a dictionary*
:c
/me has troubles understanding what that means anyway
So I'll just not contribute to the conversation today and hide in this corner here :l
*hides in this corner*

It just means favoritism; giving a position to a person for reasons of personal connections rather than merit. Nepotism is rampant everywhere, which is why networking is so important; you never know if that kid you met in high school and talked to once every few months is the one that's going to have an opening and think "you know, that kid I talk to every once in a while is looking for a job in this field, I should ask him".
So basically, it's an word for:
Someone getting a good job because said someone knows someone else in that job who may help the first someone out?
If yes then I'm pretty much boned, because I don't know any people IRL with those kinds of "connections" yet :l
Exactly.
You're only 15! No one knows anyone with connections at 15. You start in college basically, when you take internships and strike up friendships with the boss and then make friends with people that are all going to be professionals in a few years - then suddenly, connections. I refuse to unfriend anyone from my fancypants school because who knows when they might get a big job and I need one and they'll be in my contacts.
Well the things for me is, simply put
IRL friends are as unreachable and nonexistant for me as about any other of my life goals :c
Hence why I'm concerned about the majority of things regarding nepotism...
My family really urged me to go into the medical field, since most of them are doctors or pharmacists. Even with promises that they would really help me out and hire me. They still always bring it up to me to become one. But, I'm sticking with zoology/wildlife conservation biology. There's not much money in it, but that doesn't bother me. As long as I'm enjoying what I'm doing, I can say that I'm happy.
Hopefully, with time, if they see that you enjoy your career immensely, they can be happy that you're happy, even if they didn't "get what they want."
Well, some of them are slowly realizing that I'm not going to change my mind haha.
I honestly can't wait to begin working, because I've been so eager to have a job and be able to make my own source of income. Only downside is, I'm probably going to have little of said money to myself as I pay for my tuition in college.
Oh, and I applied for a job awhile back at a local Target store, and I got the magical denial email this morning. Oh well.
I agree that it's at least good that I heard from them about not getting the position. That's nice that they actually told you no though.
Tornado warning here with a confirmed tornado in the area. Maybe I'll get to see it! Hope everyone is okay though
