Is Pokémon the only monster collecting/battling franchise you're into?

I was into a few when I was younger - mainly because I had an extremely screwed-up sleep schedule and laid in bed watching Cartoon Network immediately after Adult Swim ended, and there happened to be a lot of those kinds of shows on at those hours, but anyway!

Bakugan was my favorite - I'd always try to catch the show, and while I never actually played, I had a single Dragonoid ball that I opened and closed fidgetingly until it didn't work right anymore. :) Good times, good times...I also watched Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds (although when I look back on that one, I remember the characters and story more than the battles/creatures), and an obscure one called Chaotic. (I need to watch some of these again sometime!)

I recently did some research into Digimon, and - I'm sorry, it seems like a perfectly good franchise, but I think I missed my window of opportunity to understand it. o.O So many types! (Not the virus/vaccine/data thing, the other type list that's like Dragon, Crustacean, Giant Bird, etc.) So many forms! Everything evolving into everything! (Pokemon is complicated too, of course, but I managed to get it in my head when I was a little kid with a more open memory, so...)

I am still very fond of Digimon, and if/when they release another game I will buy it immediately - the latest titles have had significantly more depth than Pokemon in pretty much every aspect. The narrative is better, the gameplay mechanics are significantly more versatile and complex (being able to de-digivolve and go into a completely different line really adds variety) and the presentation has had some actual effort put into it. Honestly, whilst I was more into Pokemon as a child, Digimon is a franchise that has evolved and matured with me, rather than stagnate the way that Pokemon has. Not to say that Digimon doesn't recycle the hell out of some things, or isn't awful in some respects (the less said about Tri, the better) but I think the franchise has aged significantly better.

I WAS into Monster Hunter, before World came along and ruined oversimiplified it, turning it from a complex and diverse series into yet another basic ARPG with an awful shoehorned-in narrative and rubbish selection of monsters in exchange for more responsive controls and combat...and slightly more convenient multiplayer. But lots of supposed QoL features that make the overall product far worse.

I'm more of a casual Digimon fan at best - I lost interest in the franchise around Data Squad and never got to play any of the games. Cyber Sleuth looks neat though, maybe I'll give that a try. Likewise for Yu Gi Oh, I fell out after the end of GX.
Does Shin Megami Tensei count? In a lot of entries, you can recruit demons that can be fused together into stronger demons. I got into the franchise in 2013 through Persona 4 Golden, and since then I've branched out into the mainline games and other spinoffs. I particularly like Devil Survivor for the strategy aspect, as well as Persona of course. I really want play Digital Devil Saga, Nocturne and Persona 2 but I don't have a PS3 or a Vita >>

I had a very short stint with Bakugan, Beyblade, and Yugi-oh (if those even count). It was way back in elementary and it was only for the toys. I still remember when I wouldn't eat lunch just to buy them lmao (in my school we had a small shop close by that sold knock-off toys of those in droves). I would also watch the anime of these on Cartoon Network every now and then.

Games-wise though, I've never been interested in any other monster collecting title or franchise. Digimon never enticed me once I don't know why. There's just something about Pokemon that made me perpetually loyal to it.

Hey you can still always enjoy the older games. I have the understanding that Double Cross is still going strong.

As for me I am v fond of Digimon Tamers. Maaaybe somewhat about some other seasons as well, but Tamers the most.

Other than that I'm a Monster Hunter regular. Awesome and functional monster designs, naturalist maps, engaging three-paradigm combat (even more in 3U even if water combat is controversial), really nifty and catchy music, Nargacuga, and AI Companion Cats! What's not to love. It's basically the franchise that is giving me most of that Gamefreak refuses to offer.

As well as Pokémon I am a fan of Digimon and Yokai watch. Despite what other people might say, I don't think they are Pokémon rip-off's. They are distinct enough to be very different lores, stories and universes. Gameplay is also quite different. I will say I like Pokémon the most but I do still love other franchises.

it sucks to say but yeah, as of currently, pokemon's the only one i'm really into these days.

as a kid, i used to be HUGE into yu-gi-oh and i was an avid collector for years (assuming that counts). unfortunately though, even though i would have decks upon decks and all, i eventually fell out of it like 10+ years ago because everyone around me just kinda stopped playing it. i had no one really to play against, so i had no reason anymore to collect the cards. i even had my own duel disk! man that was fun.

for digimon, i've only ever been into it as a very brief stint when i was a kid, and i got into one of the GBA games (i think it was battle spirit but i'm not 100% sure), but that's about as far as my interest went. it never really pulled me in the same way pokemon did, and i feel like it's kinda way too late to get into digimon again given what i've missed the past decade and then some.

I'm a very large Yo-Kai Watch fan! I've played all the games, and went out of my way to get the Japanese version of the 3rd game because it hadn't been localised yet! Besides Pokemon, that was the only other game I could play for long amounts of time without breaks. I found them to be really fun, but I haven't played them in a while. I'm thinking of playing the 1st one again (It's one of my favourite games, period), so many memories with the game. The game used to be criticised for it's battle system, but I found no issues with it. Some of the designs for the Yo-Kai were pretty good Cadin/Robonyan/Kameppa are some personal favourites, and the meta in the series was (almost) perfected in Yo-Kai Watch 3 (until that stupid 4.0 update came out that released new Yo-Kai probably stronger than half of the Uber tier Pokemon in Gen 7, those like... 5 of them threw balance off the whole game). Besides that series... I haven't really played many 'monster-catching' JRPGs.
