What are your favorite characters in House of the Dragon? My favorites are Mysaria and Alicent Hightower.
Ooh tough!! I do think Alicent is very interesting and I love how the show has made a lot of these characters more dynamic because you don't really get to see the nuances in the book and I think the show has made her a more sympathetic character. I know a lot of people still hate her as a villain or one of the villains if they consider Rhaenyra the protagonist, but I think the way she has been written in the show and her background makes her a lot more understandable and explains why she is the way she is, and I don't really see her as a bad person - she's very much a product of her upbringing and she's made the best of the circumstances she was made to be in.
I am still such a sucker for just the cool aesthetic of being a dragonrider though so on that front Rhaenyra and Aemond have her beat, but I have to admit Alicent is a fascinating character and because she's kind of a 'villain' I find myself thinking more about what makes her tick than I do Rhaenyra.
I actually also really like the show's portrayal of Aegon II; that actor is fantastic lol, so good at playing that bumbling idiot and making it funny and entertaining while still showing how vulnerable he is - at his core you can tell he just wants to be loved - by his mom, by his people, by the smallfolk - and there's something very sad about his character because nobody does. And he tries, like he tried to give people whatever they wanted at court but he's brash, not very smart and doesn't want to listen to people, so it's a prison of his own making but he also doesn't seem to understand it. And again like Alicent, I also find myself thinking a lot about what makes him tick.
I haven't watched the finale yet actually as of writing this, waiting to watch it with my brother - so maybe the last episode wildly shakes things up for me, I don't know yet!
And what's your Hogwarts House? I think I know the answer but sometimes people are hatstalls.
When I was on Pottermore I was sorted into Ravenclaw, but my personal opinion is more people are Hufflepuffs than they like to admit - they're made fun of for being the catch-all house for leftovers but the traits that embody the house I think are most commonly found in your everyday people (including me!), like how many people are truly so intelligent or cunning or need to be brave and chivalrous, etc., you know? But most people try to be kind and hardworking, loyal to people they care about and so on. So realistically, probably Hufflepuff.
