Quick update from me. I wanted to play all last night, but I was pretty tired so I decided to go to bed instead. I'm currently on Route 5 with my team:

Roshi the (male) Wartortle, Lv 19
Fiona the (female) Riolu, Lv 20
Lila the (female) Braixen, Lv 20

I also caught a Furfrou but I don't plan on using him. I also think I finally decided who I want for the rest of my team, and I have a feeling I can't catch them till much later in the game. :P

I spent some time playing around with Pokemon Amie, which I can't help but enjoy how adorable it is, but I'm still trying to figure out parts of it. Enjoyment is easy to raise, but the other stats are a little more finicky.

I'm taking my time as I play along, but I just left Lumiose City after exploring and meeting up with Serena at one of the many cafe's found there. I mean, seriously, how many cafe's does one city need? Haha. I even got a nice hair cut, dyed my hair, and put on some gray contacts. I swear, player customization is going to make me go broke eventually.

So far my team is:

They're all at level 16/17. I managed to get a Froakie in a trade from Netto, so I've been using him along the way. I gotta say, I'm loving the new Pokémon so far and I plan on doing a lot of capturing and swapping around party members to get a good feel for most of them.

Well, onto the next big town or city and hopefully my second gym badge!

Woke up at 6 to get the game first, and boy, am I having a good time. I think it is safe to say that X and Y are so far the BEST main-franchise games. Everything about them is great: The region, the diversity of pokemon, the mapping, etc. Speaking of mapping, I am currently at route 8 and my God is it beautiful. The cliffs and the beaches are just stunning.

The funniest thing happened to me, though: On Route 8, I got a Zangoose horde. With one Seviper! Found that cool cause they are enemies. But then, instead of attacking me, the Zangooses started attacking the Seviper! I loled so hard... Little bonuses like that that make the games so great.

ONLY small complaint: I feel like the gap between the first and second gym is a little big. It's all right, of course, I just feel like it will be awkward taking such a huge break from gyms and then having one after another.

Just finished up in Luminose City (sp?), and am now just doing some grinding and Wonder Trades on my way to the next town. I got a Luvdisc from a WT that I WT'ed again (didn't want it or need it) for an Espurr which I plan on keeping in my team at least for a little while. I'm debating on whether to WT my Ralts, since I've got no desire to keep it- eh, we'll see.

Yet another update. I am now infiltrating Team Flare's base (the place where you catch Xerneas or Yveltal before the 8th badge.) Just before this I battled a friend online who had already beat the Champion and I whooped her ass, lol. My team is very overpowered right now, which is unusual since I always find myself picking looks over power but I guess all my Pokemon look good and are powerful at the same time lol.

I am simply amazed by how strong my Pokemon are. Maybe it's because most of them are over leveled? But they also have really good stats and movepools.. man this game is crazy. Need to name some of them soon, didn't have the chance to name certain ones because they were traded and such.

Also, Frogadier is now my favourite Kalos Pokemon.

Since I got both X and Y at Best Buy today, here's my first scoop of playing through X, which will be my main game of the two.

Spoiler:

So I started up the game, and played as the boy and named him Scott, which is my real name. I do like that female character though, i'll most likely play as her when I go through Y (particularly if I do a Nuzlocke).

After waking up and getting undressed, I was met with Shauna and Serena, who told me to head over to Aquacorde Town. I did just that, where I met Trevor and Tierno. Trevor's smart, Tierno's pretty fat-er, I mean big-boned. Anyway, Serena presented the three Pokémon to me, and ultimately, I decided on Chespin, which I nicknamed Chipper. Hardy nature, so that's fine with me. I then settled on S-Meister as my nickname and beat Shauna's Froakie in two hits of Vine Whip.

I'll just skip to when Serena shows me how to catch a Pokémon and gives me Poké Balls. Aw, does she like me or something? xP (I found it a bit funny that Mom thought the Prof's Letter was a love letter at first.) Anyway, I caught some Pokémon, including a Fletchling, Scatterbug, Bunnelby and Zigzagoon. I only really trained up Zigzagoon and Fletchling for now, because the other two I couldn't be bothered to do so.

After healing up, I went through Santalune Forest and found Shauna, which allowed for a good training opportunity since she heals me whenever I want it. I caught a Caterpie, a Panpour and Pikachu, while beating the trainers there.

So we made it out of there, where Serena, Trevor and Tierno were waiting, and got to Route 3. No new Pokémon caught here, so I went on to Santalune City. I did some stuff there, not too much, but traded Bunnelby for Farfetch'd, and put Pikachu and Panpour in my party. Then I went over to Route 22 and beat some trainers there.

Now to check out the Gym! I had Fletchling, so all the trainers were pretty easy. The first one had a Ledyba that missed with Supersonic. xP After getting through them, I decided what have I got to lose? Let's take on the first Gym Leader, Viola! "Come at me!" Sure, give me your shoot.

Santalune Gym overview:
Team entering the fight: Flutterfire (Fletchling F) LV12 - Tackle, Peck, Quick Attack, Growl
Chipper (Chespin M) LV13 - Tackle, Rollout, Bite, Vine Whip

She starts off with Surskit while I open with Flutterfire. She uses Quick Attack, but it hardly does anything, while Peck does more than half. Her: 40% or so HP, Me: 29/33 HP. She uses Water Sport, which is useless since I use Peck and kill her. Flutterfire grows to Level 13 after that, and learns Agility, which I drop Growl for since I never use that.
Afterward is Vivilion. I go for Agility just to be safe, but first she uses Infestation and i'm hurt by it. Me: 24/35 HP and +2 Speed. I use Peck, but it does less than half and she uses Infestation again. Her: 62% or so HP, Me: 16/35 HP and +2 Speed. I use Tackle as to avoid getting her to the range where she'll heal, but I get a critical hit and she uses Infestation again. Her: 18% or so HP, Me: 8/35 HP. She uses her Potion, while I use Peck and survive another turn of Infestation. I then do enough to kill her with another hit of Peck, ending the battle. Flutterfire grows to Level 14 after that.
Not much to report here. I had two Flying-types and a Pokémon with a Rock-type move (albeit a Grass-type), so I didn't think was going to be hard. Nothing too significant.

So she said some stuff about depth of field and my Fletchling, then I got the Bug Badge and TM83 for Infestation. Cool, cool. I left the Gym and that's where I parked it for now, after healing of course.

Current thoughts: So far i'm liking this, although i'm feeling that you gain EXP a bit slowly. Although it is the beginning of the game, so I won't judge that yet.
