Sorry for hating the new artstyle. and yes- I try to ignore it but I cant. Ash looks [abelist slur]. I can tolerate everything, from the so many new characters, non-traveling concept , school stuff, hardly battling but NOT this.

That may be your opinion, but tbh, I like how expressive the characters are in the new art style, so I'll defend it with my life. But I'll go now.

Its ok for u to defend it. Each one of us has its own opinion and that's why I defend Xy whenever I get the chance. I wish I liked the concept of Sun and Moon so I could enjoy it more, like I did with XY, but I don't =[

It's actually true, because while Kalos did break some traditions it didn't break the losing the league tradition. And as the response on Twitter indicated, the writers must have realised the worst mistake they ever made, especially with the hugely clickbait Japanese title. If I was someone in charge of the anime, I would have fired those writers because it's something you'll never live down.

Yeah, me too. If you're going to have Ash lose a league, don't try to tease that he's gonna win it. And besides, he really deserved that win especially in light of what was missing in Alola.

I mean, the writers are really trying to make me hate Ash, such as having SM turn him all dorky and childish, which I cannot relate to because I already feel like I'm a horrible person with my autism and I also had a fear the SM portrayal of Ash is making him into an offensive stereotype towards autistic people. Doesn't help that some disabilities make people unattractive that they stick out like a sore thumb.

I've got aspergers myself, and yeah, can't say I can relate to someone literally losing all their likeability and making them needlessly childish.

Ash is meant to be a character kids can look up to, and having him act dumb is going to spread the wrong message to them. Another problem is that Ash doesn't seem to care about his friends anymore, and will only seem to do something with them if he's dragged into it, which was not like he acted in previous generations. SM Ash just feels so heartless when you look at it, which makes me so sad because I care about likeable character traits and so far SM Ash is showing the opposite of that.

Agreed, and it's also a current problem with Goku, as Goku in the anime and manga is also being made somewhat unlikeable right now, though for differing reasons. And yeah, I also wasn't fond of how from what I heard he doesn't seem to care about his friends.

If the writers make Ash lose the inaugural Alola league, then it's clear that they are nothing but Ash haters and believe the whole "winning the league means the end" thing.

Yeah, no kidding, and it also doesn't help that that whole stupid claim didn't stop them from having Ash win the Orange Islands league.

At this point, I don't believe the writers want Ash to lose his leagues, I think the people they report to think it's best for him to lose to keep moving on. I believe the VAs and writers want to do more but can't due to their restrictions by the higher ups. Whether it's the league, they also have very shit time frames to create a story and hence rush it at times. seems like a hard job to me.

Remember that it was a mess when it started out, and while the Nebby and Aether Foundation arc may be the start of something serious finally happening, Weedle (or at least I think it was him) said that the anime has dug itself into a hole it can't get out of.

Are we watching the same anime? It really didn't started out as a mess, and what it did was not nerf the living heck out of Ash and Pikachu. And you should know full well not trust those users due to their own bias and misinformation.

SM has been the most divisive anime to date so far, due to the extreme mixed reception when it was announced. It's like the writers seem to always experiment with stuff every time a new generation starts, and to be honest it doesn't seem to work. You can tell if something is not working out with the target audience based on the bad ratings as of late, with XY being a ratings flop in Japan while SM is doing better (likely due to the Yo-Kai Watch influences on the format) but still not enough.

Were you one of those people who were tired about the anime's formula? And have you ever watched Yo-Kai Watch? Its style of comedy is far different than what the SM anime's style of comedy is being used.

You're saying Weedle is a bad person? He doesn't like SM either, and I can agree with his opinion. Remember that respecting opinions is a thing. Ash and Pikachu's battling skill wasn't nerfed, but I feel Ash's personality was nerfed in that he's now acting as childish as he was at the start of OS. For OS it made sense since Ash was starting out, but now as a veteran being childish is unacceptable.

I have watched the Yo-Kai Watch anime, and I hated it because it focused on slapstick and had no indication of plot, and I feel SM may have taken inspiration from YKW with the episode structure in the first year, hence all the "SM is filler!" complaints.

First of all, I didn't use those exact words, though I did mean the words in spirit. Second of all, the problem with SM is that they didn't even bother to get him to do a league until nearly a year after its first airing, and if anything heavily marketed that Ash changed his goal to basically be to graduate as high as he can. That is completely unacceptable, whether it actually IS a Yokai-Watch clone or not (and personally, I'd label it more an Emperor's New School clone in any case, which is STILL a bad thing). Third of all, when, until now, they essentially screwed Ash out of his goal of trying to win a league and become Pokémon Master by forcing him into the school environment despite it being made clear multiple times these past 20 years that Ash didn't even NEED to go to school to be a good trainer (since The School of Hard Knocks, if I might add), yes, they did "nerf" Ash and Pikachu. Say what you will about BW, and that WAS a bad series, but at least that series actually ATTEMPTED to focus on Ash's goal, while this screwed his goal over.
