AMA Let's try this out...

You mentioned joining for a ROM hack, so what's your favorite ROM hack and why?
I haven't played too many ROM Hacks, tbh. I've played some of the more obvious ones like Glaced or Flora Sky. For all I've seen Glaced is probably the closest to my "favorite" in regards to hacks created by other people. My main issue is actually that I rarely agree with the design decisions others make. Many focus on story which is like the least interesting part to me in a Pokemon game. Others balance the gameplay in a way that I simply don't enjoy.

In a lot of ways I prefer the original games but with some tweaks. As a result I've made my own (private) versions of Blue and Crystal. I mostly just added a bunch of qol options and made Pokemon more accessible. There were some instances where I tried my own little balancing acts. They usually broke those games in the weirdest ways possible. But that's fine by me. I just like weirdly broken stuff, anyway. xD

So yeah, Glaced for a ROM Hack that was made by someone who actually tried to create a game. And my broken mess for simply casual playthroughs. :P

What are your twenty favorite turn-based rpgs?

Thanks, Megan.

Thanks, Megan.
That's a big number! Also, I'm not even sure what is considered "turn based" these days. Let's see:

Golden Sun,
Golden Sun The Lost Age,
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
Radiant Historia,
Final Fantasy 6,
Treasure of the Rudras,
Chrono Trigger,
Xenogears,
Disgaea 2,
Final Fantasy 4 (from The Complete Collection in particular),
Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals,
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest,
Lunar Legend (though I heavily advise against that version; it's the worst way to play the first Lunar game imaginable),
Final Fantasy 5,
Chrono Cross (technically I love everything about the game except playing it, I've never actually beaten it ^^"),
Persona 5 (I do have bad memories of the game due to rl troubles I had at the time),
Dragon Quest XI,
Final Fantasy VII,
Tengai Makyou Zero/Far East from Eden,
Fire Emblem Awakening

I was having a hard time coming up with that many mostly because a lot of the RPGs I played were not exactly turn based. I guess I could have put a bunch of Pokemon games on the list. But I felt that was a little too easy.
Unfortunately, due to hardware limitations, I also haven't played the Xenosaga games. Those ones I'm really interested in.
Why did you give your avatar a giant hammer?
Do you want the short answer or the long one? The short answer is because I thought it was funny to replace the umbrella with a hammer.

The long story is that I've already had multiple times where I drew avatars with my oc having a hammer. The original one only had a regular one. I think that was right after becoming a mod. Because, you know: you need to show everyone who is the boss around here. And of course, because people get used to things very quickly, I need to adapt by increasing the size every now and then :P

Ironically, my oc wants nothing to do with weapons and violence. So, it's just me committing to the bit. ^^"

What is the piece of artwork you're most proud of drawing? What makes it stand out so much to you?

This is a tough question for me. That's because I'm not too much of a fan of anything I draw. Even if it looks ok on the first glance, I know I won't like it when I take another look.

Now, it's a little more complicated than that. It's a combination of a couple things: lack of motivation, lack of time, lack on an "environment" where I feel like I can grow as an "artist" and of course my severe case of "self-awareness". ^^"
I've yet to draw something that I end up finishing because I felt content with what I created rather than just so I'm finally done.

I guess, some drawings that were alright are my current avatar, a previous Halloween-themes one and that one drawing I made during Artswap this year that Lavender had in his signature for a little while. ^^"

What are your fifteen favorite video games?

Thanks, Megan.
I have to think about that:
Radiant Historia, Morrowind, Xenoblade 2 and 3, Golden Sun 1, TLA and Dark Dawn, Terraria, VVVVVV, Final Fantasy 6, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and Symphony of the Night, Pokemon Blue.
What is your favourite meal of all time?
None that come to mind, sorry. :(

How in the universe are you able to find enjoyment playing Morrowind? 😵
(this is a serious question lol, I've tried 4 separate times, but I can never get much further than starting town before the constant attack missing causes me to say screw it)

Short answer: I grew up with it and am used to the jank.

Long answer: I know a lot about the game, including a ton of things that make the early parts of the game a lot easier.

For example, your hit rate also depends on your stamina and charging your attack. This becomes less relevant as you get more proficient with your weapon. But at the beginning you want to keep your stamina bar high during a fight and you also want to charge your attack and not just spam the attack button.

There's also a merchant in a certain town who has a lot of gold and buys items at full price. The house he resides in also has a box with good armor that sells for quite a bit of money. You can use that money to increase your weapon proficiency. The teachers in Morrowind are actually good, compared to later entries. Granted, you do have a lot more skills, as well.
If you play with the official addons enabled you'll also get a lot of "visitors" with valuable items so you don't have to worry about money basically ever again.

There's also a sort of "hidden" quest you can do at the beginning of the game that rewards you with a really good weapon that can last you throughout a playthrough. So, when you do hit, you at least hit real hard.

I should also mention that the difficulty curve in Morrowind is kinda weird. The early game can be tough. But once you're past that part it doesn't take too long to get really overpowered. ^^"

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and Symphony of the Night

[PokeCommunity.com] Let's try this out...

You're so right...

Any favourite souls in Dawn, or favourite areas/music from either of those games?

While I actually did get all the souls in DoS it's been so long that I don't remember what they all do. I like a lot of the movement-souls like Bat Company for flying, Panther for fast running and Hippogryph for the high jump. It's sad you don't get to use the latter so much due to them coming so late in the game. ^^"

Favorite area in DoS is probably the Garden of Madness and maybe the Clock Tower. The former because of the ambience and the latter because I kind of like the boss fight (even though only years later did I hear that it's a reference to Dio from JJBA).

Not sure what I'd pick for SotN. I like the Alchemy Laboratory quite a bit. The Colosseum is also pretty interesting.

Do you have any pets?
I don't. And I won't get any anyy time soon, either. I simply don't have the time do care to care for a pet. I'm actually even having trouble just caring for myself, tbh. ^^"

I think owning a cat would be nice, though. I like cats more than dogs, anyways.
What's your favourite kind of music?
Videogame music and progressive rock. My favorite sountracks come from games like Chrono Cross, Radiant Historia, as well as series like Xenoblade (or the entire Xeno-"franchise" in general).

Favorite prog rock stuff is probably from Motoi Sakuraba and King Crimson. The former is known for making music for the "Tales" series of games. But he has also composed a couple albums of his own. I do like his earlier works more than his later ones, though. I think I like his first album still the most.
The latter is just a band that I generally like quite a bit. Although, they kinda have the similar problem where I like their earlier albums more than the later ones. My favorite album is "Red" which coincidentally also has my favorite KC song "Starless". The album "In the Court of the Crimson King" is pretty good as well, with "Epitaph" probably being my secondmost favorite KC song.

What's something you're passionate about that most people wouldn't expect? o_O
I'm not really a passionate person. I guess I'm very eager to look for free alternatives to commercial stuff? Like, preferring open source software over paid products. Even if I caved and bought a license I'm more than willing to ditch it if I find a more interesting free alternative. ^^"
What's your favourite video game?
I've played too many (different) games at this point to really have that one special game that I like more than all the others. Instead the best I can do is come up with favorites in different categories. My favorite retro jrpg is probably still Golden Sun (potentially TLA), favorite modern jrpg probably Xenoblade 3.
