License anyone?

I don't have one; in fact, I've never driven in my life. I was too afraid to get a permit, and when I finally was halfway interested in learning, I was in Germany, where they don't teach American teenagers how to drive. And I've been too lazy to ask anyone here to teach me. 8D;;

I've had one for a while now. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't. we don;t have any good public transit around me so it's either drive, bike, or get someone to drive you somewhere.

The perfect thread for this point in my life. I turn 16 on May 12th, and I'm fully ready/qualified to get my license. I'm so excited! :D

Me but I got it when I was 19 ~ that was a while ago....a long while XD

I have a provisional driving license at the moment; which explains the fact that I'm a learner driver. I'm still taking lessons but I'm definitely aiming for a full license.

I got one last summer. Ahh its good to drive

I think I might be able to say that I'm the oldest one in this thread so far that hasn't gotten their license. I'm twenty-one, and I still haven't taken any driving test. It might be pure laziness, since I don't want to study or stand in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Or it might be because I simply refuse to grow up.

I am going to have to get my license soon, since the college that I'm transferring to isn't in walking distance. Plus, I am moving out of state, and...yeah, kind of hard to get out of state without a car.

But for now, walking and carpooling are how I get around.

Depends what 'license' refers to. I have a passport, which is like a license to go abroad, eh? National insurance card, something of a license to work, yes? I'm also the license (copyright and creative commons) holder of my artwork and literary work.

Anyway, yes, I do know you actually mean a driver's license. I don't have one and don't want one, I prefer cycling to where I want to get. Can't exactly take a car along the shortcut through the park into town can I?... Well, if my dad was still working for the borough council (and if they didn't concrete the barriers to the ground by one of the main gates), I actually would be able to, but you get the point. xD
But... sigh... it will be useful in the inevitable event that I'll be required to travel long distances to out of town shops and in doing errands for my parents and friends.

Call me lazy, But I havent really pushed for my licence yet. Dont get me wrong, I know how to handle a vehicle, I'm not very confident as I've only driven once or twice but I dont have it yet.

Not really... i'll get one in about two years or so... right now, i stick to my skateboard or my driver aka mum...

Here in New Zealand we have a three tier system. First is your learners which can be reached at 15 years of age, you simply answer some questions. This allows someone a permit to drive with a passenger who is either 21 with their full license, or have had their full license for two years. This stage is a piece of cake to pass and it always makes me laugh when people seemingly can't pass it. Clearly I have this one.

The second stage is your restricted, which because I am lazy I am still on it. This permits you to drive by yourself from 5pm to 10pm. 11pm when its daylight savings. You can not carry passengers unless someone in the car who has to sit in the front have their full license and is 21 or have had your license for two years or more. You can get your restricted six months after having your learners. Its fairly easy to pass, although I failed my first time because apparently I was not searching the roads, ie. not looking at side streets and such. It is about 30 mins that you drive for so they can test you. I told the guy where to go and went to another licensing place and got it. The lady was so much better, in fact males are such arseholes.

The system that I can go for but have been too lazy is your full license. Which is just what it says. To get this you need to have your restricted for 18 months or 12 months if you do a defensive driving course. The test is about one hour and its a far more technical drive. But I have just been too lazy to go for it. Although by the end of the year I will do just that.

Because the government here is run by idiots and the rules they enforce were made in the bloody stone age, I have to wait until I turn 18 (DX) before I can even consider getting a learner's licence!

So it's 3 years, 5 months and 20 days. Yes, I'm counting.

Bah...I was looking forward to getting my liscense, but they introduced new laws for learning drivers. We gotta fill out a log book with 100 hours driving time before we can apply for the prac test, such a pain. >>

Although, I've clocked out about 70 hours so far, can't wait to get rid of my learners and get onto my opens. *w*

I'm working on getting my license. Right now, I am in the second stage. This is when I have to get 60 hours worth of driving time logged in. The driving test is going to suck mainly because of parallel parking. That is a chore in itself, in my opinion.

I also have to do it before my permit expires, which is in 2 months. Fun.

I do. Just got one 3 months ago. Though I have not gotten my state ID yet.....really need to work on getting one...
Where do you live because a driver license is an acceptable form of ID for everything. I still have a permit because it will raise my parent's insurance rates by $2,000 per year (New York has the second highest insurance rates in the country).

Yeah, I do have mine. Weird thing is, I currently have no car, but it's good to have it "just in case"
Exams here arent that hard, at least, it wasnt when I took them a few years ago.
