    [PokeCommunity.com] Lumiose City

Lumiose City is the largest and most populous city in Kalos, and in the main series games so far. It's jam-packed with several cafes, the Battle Institute, a fancy hotel for rich people, the laboratory of the region's Pokemon Professor, the Looker Bureau, an art museum, the PR Video studio, the Eiffel Tower Prism Tower, some nice restaurants, the most expensive (but I love the coat I bought there) clothing boutique in the region, a train station, several unique shops, a ghost girl who has a thread made for her every couple of months, a Gogoat riding service, X/Y's first game breaking glitch, and whatever other stuff I forgot to mention.

What do you think of Lumiose City, especially in comparison to other large cities like Jubilife, Saffron, or Castelia? Anything you wish was added to the city or taken away? How did you feel the first time you set foot in Lumiose?

i cant tell you how much i HATE lumoise city. of any city ever made in any of the games, i would pin this as the worsed designed out of the bunch.

to start the city is designed like a wheel. all built in the same way, with the same structures, and the same materials. not only does it make the city impossible to navigate, but it's exactly the opposite of paris, one of the oldest cities in france. at least they should have made the lower part like a downtown/older part with old buildings (with character, mind you).

secondly the city feels very offensive to french people, starting with the cafe obsession the kalosian people have. most of that i think can be contributed with the japanese obsession with the french (there is much about france they like to leave off like a lack of hygiene and the very modernized sections of the town. not that the series has much that isnt stereotypes of the countries they represent *cough*cowboys in new york*cough*.

and finaly, my most hated part:
    MOTHERFUCKING. CAMERA. ANGLES.
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

dont ban me for that i'll change it if it needs to be. i just cant stand barely being able to see in the city. i would take a top-down view of the city anyday over the horendous task of trying to find stores on the side of the alleys without peripheral vision. why couldnt they have made it so much simpler. also getting into stores with the roller skates on is a nightmare, as you go too fast and miss the doors completely every single time. the camera angle was awesome in Black/White with the curved part of the town *cough* bad jokes about middle long island being filled with absolutely nothing*cough*.

i think this game was the most rushed game GF has ever made, starting with the really atrocious engine and poor story/character development. i am very upset with this and i refuse to get X because of this.

that is all, dont ban me plz.

I hate Lumiose City. I hated getting lost and I hate that obnoxious music that plays. I swear doing that Looker side mission was a pain in the ass when I had to navigate around the city. I basically used a taxi to get around places but with that mission, I needed to go through the alleyways to complete certain tasks. I also hate that a lot of areas were closed off because I wasn't stylish enough. Plus the clothing prices were outrageous and some of it didn't even look that good or were too plain.
I still managed to get access to every area in the city after doing a bunch of restaurant battles and such but I still don't like this city at all. It doesn't help that Smash Bros. for 3DS included Lumiose City as a stage along with the Lumiose City theme that I can't turn off.

Oh and the camera was ass. I do want to know what's up with that ghost girl. Scared the crap out of me during my first playthrough.

I actually liked the place, to be honest; one of my favorite places of Kalos region, right beside its very own Pokémon League. It's big, filled with people, and has got a lot of things around for us to see. Plus, the 3D-style graphics do a great job showing off all its features, if you ask me, which is another reason behind my likeness towards this city. I'm not too fond of its theme, sadly, but whenever it plays, I try to turn volume down so that I don't have to precisely listen and whatnot. If it were different, though, things would have been flawless (at least from my perspective)!

    I didn't know that anyone hated the city so much. {XD}

I like Lumiose City because it actually feels like a large, populous city. Jubilife and Castelia were meant to be like that too, but they've always felt kinda....empty and boring to me. And I loved the whole Looker Bureau thing.

Though I do agree that the lack of a good map is a big negative about the city. Like Game Freak:

    Spoiler:

WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT THAT? Put that in the game. Or at least keep the mini-map thing on screen for more than a second. And put a little dot on it marking our current location. C'mon. -_-

I'm so sad Lumiose City is copping a lot of hate in this thread already, but I guess it's likely to blame on the lack of a map in-game meaning it's easy to get lost. I actually liked the great work with the 3D graphics in this location, it made great use of it and felt more like a "true" big city compared to other regions.

The camera angles sometimes got annoying and the theme music wasn't the best, but I think I love how it was heavily based on Paris, such as having an Eiffel Tower clone where the Gym is housed.

I didn't like Lumiose City AT FIRST, but it came to grow on me. It has the restaurants, and a lot of buildings present throughout like Celadon, Jubilife, Lilycove, Castelia, etc. Not to mention it has my favorite Gym Leader in the game, Clemont.

What made you not like it at first?

So... am I one of the few people who liked Lumiose City? :b

For one thing, it's not so hard finding around the place; usually I'd just use a Taxi to get around, but even, the roofs made the place easy to follow, for me. There's also a ton of things to do; hair stylist, forfou stylist, stone shop, clothing shop, actual jobs, resturants, cafes? It was pretty interactive!

Well, the camera angle had to get some getting used to at first, but it's honestly not that bad; in fact, I actually started to enjoy it because it showed the city in its full beauty that way. If anything, I kinda didn't much carefor Gen V's Callistia City's camera view; idk, it made things pretty.. dull? Mmm, the theme could get some work too. Other than that, I think it was an outstanding city. <33

I think it would be the fact that I was always going back there in the main story, and at first it was awkward to venture through. But in time I came to be able to catch onto it.

Maybe I should clarify. As someone who has a horrible sense of direction, Lumiose City is a nightmare. The music was just an added taunt to my nightmare.
