Yay! I love Pokémon Rangers and I love the fact that it's added! Thank you so much avara, and also I was thinking that maybe the Rangers could be like an anti-Seeker Group. Instead of trying to capture Legendary Pokémon and preserve them, Rangers would try and save the Legendaries and prevent the Seekers for hunting after rare pokémon.

No problem, I'm glad you mentioned it or I probably wouldn't have given it any further thought! Absolutely, now I've done some reading up, I definitely think the Rangers could cause some trouble for the Seekers and vice versa, not to mention any other of the various organisations. This brings me up to a total of seven career choices which should be good fun to script, I'm looking forward to getting started!

Adding ranger career would be a fantastic idea. I don't know how you can add browser or the styler. As for the 1 pokemon rule i guess rangers can keep the event exclusive pokemons. and use 6 of them in the tournament. in the 3rd ranger game we can have multiple starter pokemons but only 1 is usable at a time and the rest stays in a farm. so it is possible to keep more than 1 pokemon to make it fair.

I'm not very sure how to express it, but I'm very glad that you're returning to this project. Not that your other project isn't any good, but there was a charm to this that I haven't seen in ROM Hacks for a very long time. Avara, I still believe this to be the best hack despite the hurdles that it has gone through. I'll most likely PM you my full thoughts since it's like 3 in the morning and I can't articulate my feelings correctly. Just know that I'm extremely happy to see this come back at full force! We definitely need to talk more, Avara. :3

Ok, so first of all, I am a major fan of this hack even though it definitely was a mess. I got really disappointed when you stopped working on it but I never deleted my game in hopes of you coming back. So, thank you for coming back and I wish you the best in completing this together with Ages of Faith. I do hope you allow me to beta test :)

Yep, definitely not going to add browser or styler if I can just substitute the Dex/Pokeballs; way too much effort for 1/8th of the game. Good to know some info about the Ranger games too so thanks for that insight, good to know it's not a solid 1-pokemon rule!

Man, I nearly didn't recognise you because of the username change! Really nice to hear from you again! =) I know; PM me your Skype name if you use it, it'd be great to catch up! At the moment I'm just trying to get all of the maps done for the game before I start scripting, but my manager has just switched me to nightshift at my job which I've never done before. It's taking some getting used to, so in all honesty I'm taking a break from the hacks until I get into a proper routine again.

Thank you so much! It definitely was too ambitious for a first hack, but I (hope) I'm a little better than I was back then and it won't have as many bugs as last time; but as with all hacks, it's not always avoidable for some reason or another no matter how hard you try =(. Of course you can beta test; as I said earlier it probably won't be for a while, but when I have something ready I can let you know. =)

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the inactivity! Since some of the maps for the first section of the game are now done, I thought I'd share them with you. I am not the best mapper, so any feedback is welcome! I do not want them to look Nindento-ey, but I do still want to keep the ideas similar to how they were in the first game. Note that tiles are not final and I consider them WIP since they all need improvement, and grass is just a flat green colour because I haven't chosen a grass tile I like yet =P

This is the unnamed "Route 1" of the game, connecting Brun Valley, the first town, and Clifftop Town, the second town.

This is Clifftop Town's map, featuring the game's first Gym and first Community Centre. Pokemon Centre, Gym and Mart tiles are completely custom, let me know if I can improve them!

The foot of Mt. Ore, leading you out of the mountains and to the third city. For those of you wondering about the seemingly random section of trees at the right, it's where the old Seeker base used to be.

Sogen Suburb; or town/city number 3. The exit at the top takes you to the forest entrance, while the path to the left takes you to the Sogen Gardens.

The Freelance Career

The simplest way to play the game; it's exactly what it sounds like.
You'll have no Boss to do things for and no HQ to report back to - you're just a lone Trainer trying to make a name for themselves.
If you'd like to play the game the way you'd play a normal Pok?mon game, with absolutely no loyalties to anyone but yourself, this is the path best suited to you!

The Researcher Career

Join Avlar's Research team and become a Pok?mon Researcher!
You'll be doing various missions like field work or collecting data for your Pok?dex, and you'll even be whisked away to exclusive unexplored areas.
Do you have what it takes to work your way up to become a Pok?mon Professor?

The Criminal Career

A new Gang has arrived in Avlar and they're causing all kinds of problems in the region with their antics.
Stealing Pok?mon? Mugging people? Making mischievious plans? All part of your job, and the Gang will become your family.
If you always preferred playing on the side of the bad guys, this is the Career for you!

The Seeker Career

Seekers are a prestigious (or pretentious, depending on who you ask) group of famous Trainers.
Their main objective is to own as many rare or even Legendary Pok?mon as they can to further their reputation and uphold their self-proclaimed "Elite" status.
If you love hunting for rare Pok?mon, this is the path you'll like the most.

The Journalist Career (new!)

Employees of the Avlarian TV Station have a reputation for being gossip-hungry and will do anything to get a good story.
As a Journalist, your job is to hunt down all the well-known Trainers of the land to get insider info, and you'll get invites to all kinds of events for "work".
Who's to say you won't become more famous than the Trainers you're chasing along the way, though?

The Police Career (new!)

With so much going on in the region, there's no rest for the poor Officers at the Avlar Police Department.
Fighting crime, managing the Prison (or sending people there!), and detective work are just some of the things you'll get up to.
Will you be one of those cops who "turns a blind eye" to crime? Or will you abuse your position of authority to the point of hilarity for your own amusement? It's up to you!

The Ranger Career (new!)

Many Trainers have high hopes of joining the well-respected Ranger Union of Avlar.
After your intitial Academy-style training, your duties will involve protecting endangered Pok?mon, taking care of the environment and helping the needy.
This Career will be your first choice if you want the mission-based gameplay, but without the "organisation" feel.

In addition to your chosen main Career, you can also take a Side-Career later in the game; these are "unlocked" through meeting certain conditions.
As with main Careers, you can only choose one! I am taking suggestions for Side-Careers for the remake, as the SCs here are the same as the original.

The Gym Leader Side-Career

Have you ever dreamed of running your very own Pok?mon Gym? Now you can!
Defeating each of the eight Avlarian Gyms will prove you have what it takes.
You'll start off running the first Gym and work your way up until you become the final Gym Leader of the region!

The Breeder Side-Career

Many Trainers take their Pok?mon to the qualified members of staff at the Pok?mon Breeding Organisation.
Some people breed Pok?mon for egg moves, IVs and more - you'll be doing it professionally!
If you're one who has the patience to hatch every Egg you can get your hands on, you'll have fun as a Breeder.
