There's a video by Poketuber SilverLeagueNetwork I wanted to share you guys regarding misconceptions made in Pokemon.

For those of you who can't watch it, here is what's listed from the video:

    10. Bug Being Weak to Ice (this one's new to me)
    9. MissingNo. Being the Same as M (also new to me because I M was just M-shaped)
    8. What Determine's Wurmple's Evolution (this has been plaguing me)
    7. Pok?mon "Breeding" at the Day Care (I'm pretty sure there's a reason why)
    6. Why Hasn't Pikachu Evolved Yet? (a very common complaint)
    5. Name Pronunciations (everyone makes this mistake)
    4. Yelling "PlayStation" at Pikachu (more of an urban legend than a misconception)
    3. The Designs in Pok?mon Don't Make Any Sense (another common complaint)
    2. Pressing "A" Repeatedly Makes It Easier to Catch Pok?mon (I have a habit of my shaking my handheld in sync with the Pokeball)
    1. The Game Hasn't Changed At All (a very common yet tiresome complaint)

This video inspired me to create a thread regarding misconceptions made throughout the series. See if you can think of other misconceptions that weren't listed on the video.

Back when I played Soul Silver as a kid, I thought water type was super effective against bug type. I dont know why it never occurred to me that water type was not super effective against bug type when there was no "super effective" text.

Up until yesterday I though Amulet Coins and moves like Pay Day and Happy Hour could stack, giving you a ton of money from battles
I was really dissapointed when I finally found out that wasn't true

Ah SilverLeague one of the few Poketubers I watch.

I used to think Ice resisted Grass and Bug resists Psychic. They don't.

I also used to think Pokemon such as Beedrill and Venomoth were immune to ground due to having wings. Pokemon need to be flying type or have levitate to be immune to ground attacks.

I think as a kid I thought Rock resisted Ice and Electric, and that Ground also resisted some types it actually doesn't; Fire, Bug, and Steel, to be specific.

Also, for the longest time, I thought that Wingull could potentially have White Smoke as an Ability in Generation III, due to me having "could have sworn" I got one with it at one point, and also me being a little kid who still didn't quite understand the difference between smoke and fog/mist.

Can't think of much else at the moment.

kind of sad that I used to do this for a number of years.

I thought it was holding A. I know it won't change anything, but I still do it o.O Superstition I guess.

I always (I'll admit that I still sometimes do it, I blame it on muscle memory) press the A button and Down on the D Pad at the same time whenever a Pokeball closes for a catch. I do know it does nothing to help succeed in catching Pokemon... but when you have a habit like that from 20 years of game playing... It's hard to break.

Another weird misconception I see every once in a while, is people thinking that Ditto can breed with other Ditto. I wish it worked this way, sadly it does not.

    I'm guilty of number 10 :P

I still get some of the types mixed up, but the bug weak to ice might be the worst

A fairly common misconception is that the franchise has been worth playing since Gen IV ended

It took me years to break out of the Pokeball button habit. It used to be Down + B for Pokeballs, and Up + A for Ultra Balls, for some reason.
